  1. I can't say for sure, however the physical switch inside the door within the handle wouldn't budge, as if it was entirely stuck. I was driving along and gave the central locking button a go on the driver's side switch panel and it worked. I'm thinking something was frozen and stopping the switch from moving. Just glad it resolved itself quickly - and hoping it won't happen again tomorrow! I'm going to try parking facing the other way (driver side toward the houses on the street) as the passenger side was much less frosty today.
  2. Ha Rob you reminded me, I bought some of that last year! Lost it so didn't actually apply it. I tried using the key, but oddly that set off the alarm
  3. Interesting development today. Unlocked doors remotely, went to put bag in boot. Boot didn't want to open in the slightest. No worries, I'll put the bag in the passenger seat. Door opens fine. Go to get into driver's side. Doesn't budge. Unlock button makes the usual noises in the door but no dice. End up climbing in from the passenger side, warming the car up. Drove for a couple of minutes, tried the lock again and bingo, works fine. Anyone had a frozen lock mechanism before?!
  4. I see this guy quite a bit on my commute from Milton Keynes. Looks like a Nismo V1 bodykit & spoiler, could be mistaken! Was wearing a black hat today. I wave but don't get any 350z love
  5. I had two half-days with Ride Drive last year, was great fun and well worth it.
  6. I'm in! After my tragic immobiliser failure the day before Japfest last year, I intend to try again. Hopefully with some new bits on the car to make it stand out 1.Andy James +1 2.Buster +1 3. 7. Dragon Age Inquisition for £7.50 at the moment on Xbox Live. Gonna give it a go.
  8. I've got an Invidia Gemini with stock cats. It's similar in volume to the stock, just a nicer sound. With decats the Gemini is much louder, probably in the region you're looking for, they make all the difference.
  9. Hi Mark, Any chance of one for me? Red writing and gear layout as per Paul K's please. I don't suppose you do a dark or black finish for the metal? If not, not to worry the silver looks great too! Given the time of year, I appreciate I may be waiting a little while but that's fine by me

    Banana arms

Rob beat me to it! Those are the ones I got. Sorted me right out, no more squeaks.
  11. Thanks gents. I'm hoping he was just using the wrong terminology for a manual tensioner rather than making up bits! He quoted me £50 to replace it including labour. If it's not a total pig to do I could have a crack at it myself.
  12. Hi all, I've just been told the squealing on my belts is due to needing a new 'auto-tensioner'. I've got a Rev-Up VQDE. The belts are new as of mid-July and are in good condition. Squealing occurs when cold (i.e. in the morning and after work at <4 degrees) and lasts for up to 15 seconds, usually less. The volts on the gauge show around 13 on start-up and then climbs to 15 by the time the noise stops). Activating the folding mirrors, wipers or headlights before the gauge shows 15 volts causes the volts to drop again and the lights/mirrors won't activate properly. I've asked a few of my fellow 350 owners if they know anything about auto-tensioners and they have drawn a blank. A cursory Google search hasn't led me to any new auto-tensioners either (I like to check prices). The mechanic is self-employed and has been a friend of the family for many years, looking after the cars and has generally been very good in the past. I wouldn't like to think he's having me on, but I can't think what else the problem could be other than a tensioner (given the behaviour of the belts and the source of the noise). Can anyone shed any light on this? Could this part have another name perhaps, or am I just being had?
  13. Yeah got Burnout in the Games with Gold or whatever it is on Xbox 1. Quality game.

    The vision

I haven't heard of the louvres rattling. Been looking at buying some for a while. Would be interested to hear if anyone has experience. I've found the HR bonnet before straight from Nissan: http://nissangenuine.com/nissan/nissan-hood-fea0mcf4ma/ £245 which is pretty good. I'm saving for a full bodykit in the new year, so also excited for 2017! Best of luck.
  15. Darn things pinged off again today. I don't have much luck! Any suggestions for adhesives to stick them down for good?
  16. If I were in the market I'd have gone for that in a heartbeat. GLWTS.
  17. Got them fitted. It was an issue of temperature as people suggested. Ran the vents on hot for a few minutes, pressed them on and after a few minutes they are pretty much sorted. Not 100% on the edges, found that they cut in to your fingers if you're a bit on the clumsy side.
  18. Glad you had better luck. I didn't take the edges off - was that part of the instructions? Do you still have them? Otherwise I did everything you did and no luck. Held it down for about 3 minutes would decent pressure, straight off.
  19. Ok just gave up trying to get mine on. I didn't get any instructions as far as I can see, so used the wipe, waited a bit and then tried to stick it on. Held on with pressure around the edges for a few minutes - came straight off. Any suggestions?
  20. The tricky part is that I won't be adding the S/C at the same time as the build. My understanding is that with the VQ I should be aiming for a high compression ratio of around 11 - I'm not sure if this will work as a two phase job. The intended power is not a great deal over 400bhp, maybe 420. As my daily driver I don't really want to get to the stage where the supporting mods list gets massive and significantly more expensive (big brake kits, large oil coolers and so on). I definitely agree that it would be silly to go for stock internals given my ambitions, it's a case of finding the balance of what I need vs what would be a nice to have.
  21. I should have mentioned, I'm looking to do the build for two reasons I've got very low compression (tested Saturday), 142 on the lowest cylinder so far from ideal as a foundation I'd like to get the most bang for buck (on the fun/safe seasaw) as I can! I'll drop you a PM, cheers.
  22. Hi, So, I'm teetering toward an engine rebuild/refurb rather than selling my beloved 350. As I would like to have the option for going S/C down the line, I'm also thinking of some uprated/forged internals to improve reliability. I'm getting quotes from some of the garages I know and trust, so that's the labour aspect in hand, however it is the parts list that I'm not so confident on. I know rods, springs and pistons are usually included in the uprated side of things, beyond that I hear differing opinions. Could the good folks of this forum give me some suggestions please? ** Edit, it's an 07 DE Rev-up
