  1. I agree it looks like the grey/black/white (old speaker cables) have been chopped and removed from the iso plug and new wires (the fat green and see through ones) in their place
  2. Hi guys! Just taken the aftermarket stereo out of the zed (see my for sale post ) and I found a small bit of "twist and tape" behind, and some of the wiring (to me) looks aftermarket (maybe new speakers or something). Just wondering if any of you ice guys on here that are more familiar with the stock wiring than I am can see what has been chopped/changed back here? Thank you!
  3. Price reduced!! Hi folks! The previous owner had this stereo fitted when I bought the car, but I'm changing it back to the original one so thought I'd see if anyone on here fancied this one. Condition: Used, but very good condition from what I can tell! All works perfectly well, and the only defects are the expected finger prints on the screen (it's touch screen) but I'll wipe these all off for the buyer so it's like new. Basically no major problems or scratches etc. Price: From the website (below) it looks like it went from £600 to £345 to £245 over its lifetime, so as it's used shall I start by knocking £100 off so £145 £115 Postage: I'll happily post it as I have the box, and I'd imagine the postage will be in the region of around £10 as its quite heavy, so if we call the final price including postage: Price including P&P £155 £125 If I have overestimated the postage I will happily re-emburse the buyer, and if I have underestimated it I'll just take the hit. Also happy for people to collect (I'm based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham) in which case postage will obviously be free. If you are local and are busy, then I'm happy to drop it round free of charge (any excuse to give the zed a run out!) Details/specs: To save me just typing this all up the following specs are copied and pasted from: https://www.caraudio...vd_p-25967.htm# (this is the exact stereo as on this web-page, I hope copying and pasting this is okay? Just thought it'd save everybody the effort of having to track it all down themselves!) Pioneer AVH-3200DVD 5.8" double din touchscreen DVD Stay in touch. Stay in tune. Stay entertained. EDIT: I have now taken the unit out and in the process spotted a small scratch on the front plastic bit, but the fact that I have never noticed it before highlights how small it is, and it doesn't really come up in the photos (just trying to be honest). I will also be happy to include the wiring (which should be enough to plug it straight into your zed, at least how it was wired into mine) and the front fascia in the sale. So you can effectively plug it straight in. Although just to be clear, this is just the standard pioneer wiring that would come with the unit and the standard fascia (as shown in pictures) - and not the snazzy ICT gear I'm afraid. Thanks for looking Gus
  4. Unfortunately something's come up (absolute classic) so can't make it anymore... spot now open for someone or a plus one! 5. A zed on the Isle of Skye sounds like my idea of heaven
  6. Depending on how far you want to take it I'd say you can save yourself the cost of courses and just try and pick it up yourself. I obviously can't speak on behalf of everybody on here, but personally I feel more than comfortable doing most "hobbyist" jobs on cars, ie standard servicing, most mods, and on more simple engines (wouldn't fancy doing it on the VQ just yet) - engine rebuilds and jobs etc, and all of the knowledge has come from a mixture of reading post after post after post on the forums and in manuals and then tied in with a bit of trial and error. Starting off with the smaller jobs, with a lower risk of breaking something then working your way up will slowly see you be able to do more and more complex jobs down the line. Plus the bonus of being on this forum is that if you ever get stuck, or concerned about damaging something is that you can just stick a question up on here and someone will very quickly help you out. But yeah basically I'd say (from the sounds of it) the level that you want to achieve is more than acheivable off your own back and there's no need to sign up to courses or the like - more money and time to just dig in and get your hands dirty. Just be brave and with a bit of common sense applied you'll be surprised how hard it is to actually damage your car! Although once you start getting into the bigger things, it becomes very difficult if the zed is your daily, because things inevitably take longer than you expect if you're waiting on parts etc so that's just worth baring in mind Basically in my opinion - just dig in mate and you'll develop a great understanding and a lot of confidence quicker than you might expect If it's then something that you'd like to persue properly, I'd ask around at all of your local garages and mot centres to start off with and offer your work at the weekends to start off with and take it from there.
  7. Okay guys as promised here's a picture to try and show what's going on... It looks (to me) as though there was quite a deep scratch at some point which someone has tried to either polish or sand out, so now I'm just trying to work out what's actually left of the paint.. Any ideas?
  8. Gave the zed a quick wash this weekend (inbetween the showers!) Used BH shampoo, quick glaze (blackhole) then topped up with poor boys natty wax... nice and shiny again now
  9. Welcome along! Good luck with your search Plenty of info and help on here should you need any
  10. Good idea I was going to look for a local detailer and see if he could quickly have a look at just the one patch for me, but just thought I'd ask on here first

    some pictures

Great looking zed mate! Wheels are spot on!
  12. I can't quite tell if its just been polished badly or wetsanded - I'll try and stick some pictures up at the weekend Either way I'm just a bit concerned how much clearcoat is actually left on there
  13. Welcome along! Looks like a great find mate well done!
  14. Hey man! Yeah hopefully see you around locally some time!
  15. Hi guys - bit of an odd request but I wonder if anyone can help me out... There is a small patch above my driver side window where it looks as though there used to be a scratch that a previous owner tried to remove using a bit of wet dry or the like so I was wondering if anybody local (Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands area) has a paint depth pressure gauge we could use for literally 5 mins or so to just check what's left of the clearcoat before I next polish the car. I feel a bit cheeky asking and I realise that the gauges are expensive (hence why I'm apprehensive to buy one for one small patch, considering I don't do correction for a living or anything) but just wondering if anybody around the west midlands has one and is free next weekend sometime? Cheers guys!
  16. Dear lord... What have I started...
  17. Thanks guys! Time to go bucket shopping!
  18. Okay so now that I'm getting into this detailing lark it's clearly important to use the two bucket method (with grit guards)? Looking around, I'm struggling to find any deals for less than £25 You could say that I'm being stingy - but this seems like a lot for a couple of buckets and some little plastic grills, so are there any alternatives that people have come across? Like just getting some buckets for £4 from wilkos etc or do I just need to bite the bullet and convince myself that it's a good deal because once I have the buckets they should last a long time? I'm aware that detailing and stingy don't sit particularly well together but I'm still pretty keen to save where I can
  19. Brilliant! Thank you again Amy for organising this
