I'm quite simialr in age, and I have a Jag XF as the "family" car along with my Zed. the Jag is a 3.0 Diesel and i'm pretty impressed with its acceleration (only marginally slower to 60 than the Zed) it does waft along quite nicely, munching motorway miles easily, but it does shift some when it needs to (also has the benfit of a "flappy paddle" manual mode if you fancy taking over from the auto box)

Modern sealed batteries, ones you don't top up are known as Valve regulated or VRLA. They recombine the hydrogen produced during charging with oxygen to maintain the electrolyte level (hydrogen + oxygen=water in simple terms) The valve is there to vent off excess pressure. not so much worn, just covered in years of built up crud

is the OEM knob leather?

Until such time as i replace the stock knob with a fancy Nismo one , has anyone got any advise on how best to clean/restore the standard one cheers

yet....somewhat unbelivably, the GT86 laps the TG track quicker than the 350Z.....which my mate who has one reminds me of frequently!!!
