  1. Found this. Post 17 (In red) http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/69998-hfc-vs-decat/
  2. Not had dealings with this company, but I've had similar experiences in the past with dealers. I sue them if they don't deliver. I had a Vectra a few few years ago. Couple of weeks in, the DMF started rattling. They said take it to get it repaired and they'd cover it. Went to collect the car and it hadn't been paid. Long story short, I put it on the credit card, emailed, wrote, visited. Got no where. Started a small claims in court - they capitulated. Paid in full with costs. Second one. Trader sold a car to my son for £900. Turbo packed in after a week. "Sold as seen!!" Long story short, sued them, they defended. Judge told them they were morons for coming to court and not reading the SOGA. £800 for turbo + costs, plus loss of wage for the day £1150. Found out later from the quoting garage that it was actually the EGR pipe that was split. £44 + fitting = £74 Ah man, my bad Should have refunded my son when I gave him the opportunity. Son bought a push chair for his baby. Wheel fell off the next day. Owner of the shop actually laughed at him and told him to leave the shop. Recorded delivery letters, final chance, sued, coughed up, plus costs. I'll sue any con merchant from the comfort of my couch. No skin off my nose if they want to play games.
  3. Would a Z pass the emissions test without Cats? I know they won't because of the rules, but if they were tested, would they pass?
  4. Japspeed do sports cats for 300
  5. Oh, what I didn't mention was that the other car I covered myself for was a TDCi Mondeo. My premium went up lol The reason? You haven't driven the Mondeo long. "But I've owned the 350 for 24hrs" "....I don't know" Bonkers.
  6. Don't they rust on the rear arches? That would indicate not, but I don't know for sure.
  7. Had hell today re-insuring the Z. I won't go over the entire hassle as it's ridiculous, suffice to say I would have made more progress talking to a potato. Until I finally got through to a woman with a brain. So "MoreThan" refused to insure the car. I asked why, as i bought the policy 2 weeks ago without issue (I had to swap the policy to a different car while my Z was in for repairs) Apparently, because I said my car was a GT, they wouldn't touch it. So I asked how heated leather seats, cruise control and a funky radio makes my car uninsurable - needless to say, she didn't know. She asked if I was sure it was a GT I asked how would I know? "it'll be on the log book" Checked log book, it didn't say GT. Checked the "Is it Taxed" site, no mention of GT. "OK, we can insure it" Meh, ok I said. I agreed with her to send a copy of the log book in, so that they will reply to confirm in writing that they believe on that evidence that my car is not a GT, and they will honour any future claims on that evidence. She said that was fine. They're just odd. One of the earlier potatoes I was talking to said "Sorry, we can't insure you. It's an Import (it isn't), it has poor security, and you're too young. I'm 44. I just hung up on him after he said that.
  8. Thanks guys. I can safely say I'm very happy with it now it's all fixed and running as it should. I've got a paranoid ear for the box, and I can't hear anything untoward. :teeth:
  9. Update: Picked car up an hour ago and the new gearbox is sweeeeet. No whining or notchiness (is that even a word?) in any gear. The Gearbox guy showed me the internals of the old one and once shown what to look for it was pretty dire. Hats off to the dealer, he paid for the lot with no arguments. Nothing was too much trouble even though it raped his wallet. So if you're looking for a car, I'd recommend giving John a call, a real stand up guy (Link on previous page)
  10. 70-100 Sounds about right. Just don't use ATS or Kwik Fit
  11. Probably too much fuel. Air filter due a change/clean?
  12. I did see this yeah, pictures paint a 1000 words, this chap from what I remember, done it on a ramp and says you can do it off of axle stands No reason you shouldn't be able to do it on axle stands, I've done a few (Not Zeds). But be warned, it is thoroughly back breaking work.
  13. Found this, any use to you? Pity the pics are missing. http://www.350z-tech...el-install.html EDIT: Yes they do, they're at the bottom
  14. Not sure what that means yet, but I'll look into it. Thanks
  15. Nice find bud, I'll let them know. Not sure if it's DE or HR, only had it in my hands a few hours. 300BHP 2006 is all I know. Thanks for that!
  16. I'll take a look. Prefer recon really, I know it's right then No idea, I know very little about gearboxes.
  17. Just a wee update: No news over the weekend, obviously. Called yesterday and could't get any solid information from the Gearbox woman. Same deal today. Spoke to the dealer. He's been liaising with the mechanic since Friday. The gearbox is beyond economical repair which really surprised me, it didn;t sound quite that bad. Anyway, he's been trying to source a recon unit. Hard to find apparently. Z33 box 321/A03 that has the clutch arm on the outside, and the cylinder bolted on top. So if you guys know a reputable source? I'm still quietly shocked that I'm not getting an argument/attitude over it. they're supposed to kick you to the kerb when they've got your money!
  18. Thanks bud The Gearbox Centre in Buckley. Heard they're very good. Do they do single flywheel kits for the Zed? Unfortunately the car has reamed me financially this month, so I'm just going to have to let the dealer sort this one, otherwise I'd definitely have a new clutch at the least. I think the last time I had a DMF done ran me for £550. Wish I'd done it myself, it's not that difficult, just time consuming and awkward if you haven't got ramps or a pit. Lol my mates car has just come out of there having at a recon box fitted due to something letting go and punching a hole in the gearbox. He's just had about a grand of work done by us as well.....poor lad. DMF and clutch will run you anywhere from £750 to over a grand depending on where you go. They do a solid for the zed I do believe Then I'll almost certainly be getting a single as my first mod on the car and doing it in the summer. I hate DMF's with a passion, absolutely useless things. I did ask the guy at TGC if he had any recon 350 gearboxes. "nah mate, it's not a ford escort" haha

  20. Me too when I come to change it. Good aftermarket dealers are rarer than hens teeth.
  21. Exactly. I spent 15 yrs in the motor trade, and I never found a single dealer worth a toss. I'm hoping this guy breaks the stereotype and lives up to his advertised word.
  22. Name put me off, but he seems to sell very well cared for cars. I think this one got in under his radar. Anyway, we'll see how it's handled and I'll update as and when. Will be Monday now before the Specialist has ascertained the damage. http://www.tradecars4u.co.uk/
  23. Was bringing the car home and noticed a whine in first gear. All other gears were fine. I didn't really notice it on the test drive. Concerned, I took it to a gearbox specialist yesterday who said the bearings are shot, and needs stripping. Advising that if driven, the bearing will eventually shatter and destroy the box. Going to costs a fair whack. Luckily the dealer I bought it off has been completely brilliant about it, and seems more eager to keep me happy than keeping his profit intact. To be fair, he's probably going to lose his profit on this problem. Was contemplating rejecting the car, but it's an absolute minter aside from that problem.
  24. Thanks GM. I did see a 2010 plate with 50K going for 5k on there, but that sounds a bit too good to be true. It is a minefield below 5k. It seems for 8k you can get a really nice one with FSH, low miles, etc. I think I'll top up with a loan, you get what you pay for at the end of the day.
