  1. Your geeky-fu is impressive, I like it!! Why not use a Raspberry Pi though? It's quad core will blow your old Jetway mobo away You shouldn't have any problems running WIn7 or Linux on a Pi.

    4000 miles

Ha, I think I've done ~3,000 in 3 months in my Roadster. They're meant to be driven, not pampered in a garage.
  3. If you put standard springs on then you'll have a larger gap between tyre and arch. If they're brand new standard springs, then the gap will be larger still, until they settle. How much? no idea. I've never reverted a car back to standard. I've only ever lowered them. Haven't bothered with the Z though, looks and handles well as standard IMO.
  4. If you have lowered springs, and go back to standard, then the ride will be softer. Shorter springs have a higher spring rate to compensate for the reduced travel which gives you a harder ride. WHich is great for cornering, but means more visits to the dentist to have your fillings replaced.
  5. You've gone vanilla? Beamer or Audi?
  6. <<< In the North, in IT I've seen a fair number of strike threats by London Underground, and they seem to plan it for the most disruptive times. And this... http://www.dailymail...on-members.html
  7. I doubt it. I think those that do support him haven't thought it through or are career benefit claimants. Let's take renationalising the railway as one example. Sounds good, but it's terrible, and redundant. It means the Rail Union would once again hold all the power. They can strike when they want and hold the Country to ransom. They would have no competition so we'll see a steady decline in management; late trains, filthy trains, stations falling into disrepair - exactly like it was in 1980. There's no upside whatsoever. SInce the trains have been privatised, it's been a massive change for the better. They're faster, cleaner, service is brilliant and the Stations I've been too are no longer embarrassing compared to Germany and France. Corbyn is a ridiculous leader.
  8. More hostility I've found. Only owned it three months and I've had three people make seriously dangerous manoeuvres just to get in front of me. And yeah, it's rare I'm let out of a junction, so I usually have to bully my way out. Z owners wave. And kids seem to like it.
  9. I used to hammer A3 and A4 petrol or Diesel in my Fiesta ST150, until you got to S Line variants. No offence, but your car must be broken or you're a terrible driver if you're struggling in a Z.
  10. Blown head gasket? Hope not. There's no smoke and it's running perfectly. I topped it up when the engine was off. Do you think that may be it? Maybe just not topped it up enough. (I hope). Maybe not then. I had a similar problem on a different car. Losing coolant, no visible leak. It was the water pump leaking slowly, and the heat of the engine vapourising the drips before they had a chance to hit the floor.
  11. Nikwax is brilliant stuff, can't believe I didn't think of it at the time. I've even got a bottle of Polar Wash for my hiking gear. Must buy some of that.
  12. There are plenty of threads on here alone where someone is either moaning or bragging (for want of a better word) that their Z was mistaken for any number of cars, from Audi TT's through Porsche's to Lambourghini's and just about everything between. No matter what you own, someone, somewhere will think it's something else. Maybe, but that's not really what I'm getting at. I'm talking about the formula BMW use. If you left Uni with a degree in product design, the last place you'd want to work is BMW or Audi. You'd want Jag, Ford, Vauxhall, Nissan, Honda, etc. You can use your imagination. BMW and Audi don't really have one. I agree the 6, Z and I look more distinctive, but they're pretty much exceptions to the rule/formula.
  13. Result. I use this site to report potholes and they always get fixed. Something worth bookmarking. http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/
  14. I use Fabsil. It waterproofs, returns the roof back to black, and protects against UV. I recommend at least two coats as winter is coming. I've heard Autoglym is very good too, but that price always put me off...maybe I'm just a tight arse lol Fabsil - £10 1 litre AGlym - £20 500 ml
  15. Still looks like a repmobile though, they all do. For 16k, I'd want something that catches the eye, not induces a yawn. Snip An old RS2000 would get more admiring looks. Beamers are just too plain, common and similar. No character at all. Anything rare will get an admiring look from an enthusiast, the note alone from the S85 in the M5/M6 turns enough heads. I don't know about the area you live, but I've never seen another M6 on the street here. Seen a hand full of other 6ers, which makes them rare enough as it is, never mind one with a factory V10 fitted I agree with your point about 3 and 5 series, though, they are 2 a penny all over Europe, same goes for Audi 4's, 5's and 6's. I had an M5 in my rear view a couple of days ago. I couldn't tell if it was a 1, 3, 4, 5 series until it passed and I saw the M5 badge. if I spent 50k on a car, I would not want any one to mistake me for a 118, I don't care how fast it is. I think that's why most of us buy Zeds. They're quite rare, distinctive, attractive and you won't mistake it for any other Nissan, let alone any other car. I'm almost contemptuous of Beamer and Audi drivers for the lag of imagination and style. Bland. The only ones that get a pass are the BMW Z. And the last good looking Audi was the Quattro IMO.

  18. Your TV makes a huge difference to graphics. I have an old 1080 HD LCD TV, and the PS4 looks barely any better than the PS3. But on my mates wafer thin LED TV and surround sound it's stunning. I prefer PS4, they seem to release the kind of games I rave for, like The Last of Us. At the end of the day, i prefer PC gaming. Consoles will never get close to the versatility of a PC. Any of the Total War series would flop on a console for instance.
  19. I think there's three motors that control the roof mechanism. Two in the boot - You'll have to strip out the trim to get to them, and one inside the car on the "parcel shelf" bit. First thing would be to ensure they're all running. If not, check the relay and fuse http://www.filedropper.com/roof
  20. The fobs work on 433MHz, so could be some kind of TV signal blocking it. Won't be Wifi. You can get frequency scanner/sniffers for pretty cheap to help you track down the source
  21. Nice tips there bud, cheers
  22. I hear it's expensive crashing at the ring.
  23. I'm guessing if the money is by card and the money is in your account, then you're paying by Debit Card? If so, then no charges for him. Sounds like he want's to declare to HMRC that he sold it for less than he actually did. Which is fine for you as you get a cheaper car and he makes profit he would have lost on the declaration. /2 cents
