  1. My sons 24, with 2 NCB. And his quotes on a Zed was over £5,000, with black box What the hell!
  2. Just pull over. Chavs aren't worth it. No ones worth it.
  3. Best guess.....you'll never really know but we've enough forum cars having problems and the most common and consistent way that people could be causing the issue is through use of wrong fuel. Don't forget a knock sensor has to detect a knock first before altering its mapping which means detonation has already taken place. If the car says use high octane then you need to use it.....period. If your mousing round in a Nissan micra that doesn't need it then yes there is practically no advantage to sticking high octane fuel in. Gotchya. I'll have to try and find some of those threads, sound interesting. And apologies guys, I didn't mean it was a con for performance cars, I meant it was a con for the regular car driver; that it does anything useful for them. I'll still be running premium in my Z.
  4. I drilled the non return out. Much much better now. @Quinster: Main dealer would be your best bet, or see if ZMANALEX will send you one.
  5. Son used toothpaste on his badly fogged headlights yesterday. Came up crystal clear. I was impressed. I use T-cut on a random orbital. Does the same job. Megs is waaaaaay over priced for the same job.
  6. I think main stealers price everything so high so you don't buy anything from them. It's the only logic that fits.
  7. How do you know it was down to fuel octane?
  8. Seems the boffins say it's a con. You can skip the first 3:49.
  9. Running it. And cleaning the inner rear wheel arches a lot more.
  10. Refurb costs as much as a second hand 'unknown' box. 600ish.
  11. Got them on my GT Roadster. I stand corrected ... is the right hand controls that are missing on the roadster ? Not on the GT one anyway. Cruise on the right, and Media on the left. Mines an 06
  12. Got them on my GT Roadster.
  13. A 4 or 5 watt Solar powered trickle charger is ideal for storage. Just modify it to be mounted outside while the car is inside, that's all I did. And it's free.
  14. Did mine after reading this, and I did have a few blocked jets. Still pretty lame and throwing the water out though. Will have to buy a more powerful motor I think.
  15. It's usually the manual box that has issues. As someone here said, it's a bit agricultural. It's a fitting description.
  16. Both variants are, or getting on for, 10 years old, so it's pretty old tech. The Golf R Estate, Passat BiTDi and a bunch of other estates would embarrass the HR or DE variant nowadays. If you want fast road, you don't really buy a Zed anymore, unless you have a stack of cash to modify it with.
  17. Is it just mine, or are they all like that. Turn it on, get 8 miles to work, and it's only cleared 1cm gap on each of the element wires.
  18. Ah @*!#. I'm going to get it in the ear on Monday.
  19. I would have to refer to Post #8
  20. Brilliant! I wonder if I could run Android on it which could double as Satnav, media player and radio. Inspirational thread for sure, thanks
  21. Have you got a link to the type of USB > Ribbon you used?
  22. I love it. Seriously tempted to do this. It's better than the after-thought of the glove box. How did you connect the touch screen ribbon to the mobo? That's what intrigues me the most
