Fair enough, I agree that they are open to abuse, although I don't think that it applies particularly more to CDS than other instruments although my knowledge on the matter is also limited.
-
Sorry, I know you said don't get you started... But could you clarify what you mean? If you're referring to dodgy practices like undervaluing of CDS by banks on bonds that they hold then sure, but I don't see how the swaps themselves actually constitute fraud if that's what you mean.

My preference would be the APR - I think that style suits the zed shape better. It might look a bit OTT without a bigger front bumper though, but if you're only concerned about downforce then I'd imagine that would give you more than something like the 380RS one, and being a replica it might be more aesthetic than functional (although I don't know how faithful replicas are to the originals).

Glad you got it sorted mate. It must go like poo off a shovel! Are you planning any styling mods? I ask because I like it as it is, nice and stealthy

That sucks. It really is such a mindless and cowardly way to express discontent with ones life.

Welcome

Yep, what those guys said. Have thought about getting one myself. Great colour in the pic like valy said

Of course banks can encourage people to live beyond their means - I never said otherwise. All businesses encourage people to spend though. If anything, the banks are obliged to warn people of the risks more than other industries - you don't see Apple telling people that financial liquidity is more important than having the latest iPhone do you? As coldel said, we're not talking about kids here. If you borrow more than you can pay back, don't blame whoever lent it to you.

I just can't think of a way that you can sell the zed and get something any good while still making a profit. Anything cheaper (including upgrade and maintenance costs) will be complete poo...

As I already said, people are inherently greedy. The sensible ones temper that greed and don't go beyond their means. It's just gambling really - the clever people make money, the others lose it, the greedy and stupid lose everything . Banks, consumers and regulators all played their part in the credit crunch, and it will happen again in some form, because that's just how it goes. Just don't be one of the people that bet their whole stack on a certain outcome

I don't like the word Evil, it's too abstract. Driven by pure greed at any cost? yes, absolutely, 100% Were they the prime mover that caused the global financial meltdown? Yes, absolutely, and the Governments were thoroughly complicit. You need to watch Inside Job. It illustrates perfectly how these assholes were, and are, thoroughly detached from everyone else, and reality. It's just a game to them. People are inherently greedy. Sure there are some bankers that cross the line and are irresponsible, but you could say that about any industry (and make a sensationalist documentary about it). Banks are just easy to point the finger at when things go bad because they're such a crucial part of modern economies. No, I'm sorry, I can't agree with your justification, or parallel. Greed has been demonstrably institutionalised in the Banking and Financial sectors. You need to understand the mechanics of their greed that led to 2008 to grasp just how deep that greed went. It's truly shocking they were allowed to get away with it. There was a failure on the part of regulators and to an extent bankers, no doubt. There was also a failure on the part of some consumers to manage their finances and not borrow beyond their means. What caused that? Part greed, part stupidity I'd say. You seem to think that banks can force people into positions where they can't afford their lifestyle, which isn't true. It's a system which can fail, but it takes both sides to get greedy and irresponsible for that to happen.

It looks like an HKS style exhaust. At that price I'd expect the quality (in particular the fitment, but also durability) to be a bit of a lottery. FYI, that's not how 'exhaust' is spelt

Just posting, to say there's no point in posting? Nice work No, just to point out my appreciation of this thread

Maybe the brakes felt spongey because they were running cables? I wonder if foxes can chew through braided lines? Jeez, I'll think about anything but work on a Friday afternoon...

No, definitely not allowed What sort of thing are you thinking? I suppose you could supercharge an MX5, but ultimately once you're done with all the upgrades I don't suppose you'd have stacks of cash left over. Zeds are something of a performance bargain, so I'm not sure this strategy has a great deal of value.

I remember Gordon Murray admitting that they made 1st stretch to just over 60mph (or 62 maybe) in the F1 so the shift wouldn't ruin their figures. Unless you've got launch control the chances of replicating those times are next to none anyway, and it's not something I'd want to attempt in my own car.

Looks good, but just thought I'd mention that AFAIK there's no real benefit in using a machine polisher unless you're actually polishing - the products you used are just a glaze and sealant. -
Do you know many people that have one? I drove another today, fantastic little car but I think it feels quicker than it actually is. It's screaming for some boost. I need to drive another 370 I think. Here's the thing for me - feeling quicker than it is is a plus point. Like I said before, there'll always be quicker cars on the road, so might as well enjoy how a car feels. Unless you feel like you're going fast, it's kinda pointless and past a certain point only increases your chances of getting nicked. Speed is only good for pub bragging points, although I would qualify that by saying that there is a minimum amount of grunt for a car to be really fun, and the 86 is a little short of that as I mentioned (but still a very nice car to drive). I guess the fact that it's a sports car that's slower than most hot hatches could be seen as a shortcoming, but those in the know still recognise it as a fine drive I feel.

Welcome No man points lost re the vx220... Fine cars as I understand, although I was told that they can be proper twitchy (by a race driver and instructor no less). Only the usual car buying tips from me really. I test drove one that crunched changing from 4th to 6th, so test that. Listen for any knocking from the suspension as the bushes and arms go on these at this age. Happy hunting

They're saving that for the 24th June

Yeah, the lightness was one of the main objectives with the 86. I think if they gave it enough grunt that it felt, well, grunty, it would have much more appeal. I loved driving it when I had the chance, but I wanted some decent shove when I got the hammer down. Not much more necessarily, just a bit of added urgency
