Hi, new 350z owner North West
TT350 replied to davies700's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
March is a bit optimistic about the frosty mornings lol. Wasn't the eastern beast laying siege to us last March? -
If it's not noteworthy I won't bother. But, I'm sure if I remember when I went from OEM to an exedy uprated clutch/flywheel, there was a noticeable difference in crunch and whirr. Feck it.
-
The clutch engages smoothly, it's just the sound it makes. Sounds like whirring and grinding. I thought that was down to running single mass flywheel.
-
Thinking about changing out the single mass flywheel for the dual mass. Can this be done with the beefy updated clutch I have, which is a 3 paddle, and what changes will I receive? What I'm hoping is that it smooths things out a bit and reduces noise. Having owned my modified Z for a while now and formerly thinking that comfort, noise and general day to day tolerance wouldn't be an issue as long as the car was just fast, I now realise that i actually do want it to be easier to live with. On that front, I want to soften the ride when I eventually get adjustable suspension. I presume stiffer anti roll bars would help stop body roll when I soften the suspension? Thanks guys. Who loves ya baby.

Holy thread revival, Bat Man. No updates in my hiatus? I had a lengthy lay off the gym. I did however lose a lot of weight in my previous job, as I walked 20km per day 5 days a week. I'm wanting to renew my gym membership and just lift weights. My new job is a 50 minute walk away/3 miles at a very brisk pace. I walk to work and back so, that's an hour and forty minutes cardio and the gym is inbetween work and home. Walk there, lift weights, walk home. I'll walk TO work before any food, which is then fasted cardio. I know that for me, fasted cardio really works. Summer/university is my motivation. So I will be starting preperation in plenty of time. I don't want to feel at all self conscious about being out of shape. I just want to totally nail this year, so I want to be focused at the tasks in hand. So any updates, guys?

Would a 2007 be too old? I suppose it would if you're looking to spend 20k. What age would one be for that much? I've also been looking at the C220D. And R33 Skylines lol!! Oh the dream never dies.
-
Wow, yeah. I didn't know anything about them, hadn't thought about them. There's a beautiful 07 for 10500 on auto trader. But the interior is red. 4.2FSI. Would you be buying new and setting the spec?

Audi A6? Been looking at these on a 14 plate as a daily for the future. Lot of car for the money.

I'm late to this but, it's sad news to hear of one of the forum members dying. I'm no stranger to loss of loved ones so my thoughts and feelings go out to those who loved him that he leaves behind.

That sounds beautiful.

I'm sorry to hear you're selling up :-(

My Z has been in the same state it is now, for a couple of years. At best I'd like to release the full potential of the modifications I've done to it and have the bodywork sorted. Age related things. Respray in grigio Silverstone, suspension mods and new wheels and also get out and about in it like I intended to. Minimally, I'd like to sort the bodywork and respray in standard colour and resolve all the wear and tear items which are just wheel bearings and droplinks.

Lagos....... Nigeria?

The future is bright. The future is orange. I'm looking forward to it.

While I've got a bit more time.... Everything has been on hold for a long time now because I've had a great many things to address in my life that meant totally putting the brakes on this project. I've got a lot planned for my future. The way life was going was just utter chaos and imminent failure was approaching. Had to swallow my pride, go see a therapist, make baby steps on the long journey that is still and always will be ahead. I've managed to pay over 75% of my mortgage. Homelessnes was a big fear of mine because I don't have any relatives. Well, any willing to let me couch surf. And I don't even know where they live anyway. So in another year, I'll own my property outright. And as a side project I'll use it collateral on a 2nd property that needs a lot of work. September, I'm back off to uni to do a course in nursing. Yep. Nursing. One of the worst things about having no one, is actually not being able to care for someone. That's when you really lose your humanity. I can deal with no one caring for me, but I noticed I was totally losing a sense of humanity. I don't want that to happen. Also, it's going to allow me to move out of this country. The average registered nurse makes £57k in America. Here it's a 3rd of that. Half at best. A new career, a new location and a new start awaits me in 3-4 years. My Z has been the love of my life for the past 6 years. I do still love everything about it. It's everything I want in a car. It's a shame it's been put on hold. I miss driving it very much. I use public transport. The Z is just too thirsty with what I've done to it. But, unless I sell it, I'll continue to finish it. That means more power, new wheels, suspension upgrades, bodywork and respect. Interior really needs a tidy, too. Sorry I've not kept in touch. Gareth.

It'd be all or nothing if I sell it. Don't want to faf around taking the kit off or selling the kit and engine as one. I'd be left with a Z with no engine to try and sell :-( I probably wouldn't be asking mega money for the whole thing anyway! Bargain basement.

Still here.

Hello. Very suddenly, my car has begun rumbling when turning any direction. I've googled "rumbling when turning" but it's either left or right, never both. Seems very odd for both to go at once. Especially as the nearside one was replaced 4 years ago. The only other thing it reminds me of is CV join noise but the Z has none on the front, does it? Ta.
-
Yeah. This. I hear bad things about CAI but, surely that's only applicable for NA cars that actually have to gulp in their own air.
-
I don't know the AIT, but it's bloody hot. I'll get a reading soon .
-
Most likely! I forget how good it sounds when there no leak/loose part in the exhaust system. I hope I can properly get bay temperature down and intake temperature way, way down. Is there enough room in the wings to mount the filters? Some vents in the side would look cool.

Boost is 4psi at the moment.

No, the niggles wouldn't bother me. It's par for the course. But, V8 sound though. Love it, especially with a big set of cams in. In all likelihood I'll stick with the turbo VQ35. I'm just sounding off, getting opinions. My car is my hobby.

Not many do understand me lol. I get bored quickly and my mind wanders. Of course I'll see how it goes once it's all sorted.
