My friend that I grew up with used to work for Carcraft which is a large network dealer in the north west.
I used to listen to his stories about customer cars or cars that had gone there for work to be done.
I asked if he could do some maintenance on my Clio there and he told me not to bother as he and the other technicians used to really thrash customer care and generally abuse them. There's a stretch of road near the Rochdale branch, A627M. It takes you from Rochdale straight to oldham with a roundabout at either end. The techs called it their racetrack.
Get on at Stakehill roundabout, towards Rochdale, then round the roundabout (sideways) heading towards Royton and Oldham.
Get it maxed out if you can, then get it sideways round roundabout B then back up towards Rochdale but come off at the Stakehill slip road and into Castleton.
I remember how enthused he was when he got to road test a V10 M5 and various other performance cars.
He also said Carcrafts 100 point inspection was BS. There were 100 checks but he said 60% of it was things like "does the car have all 4 wheels?" "Does the car have lights?"
