Hi guys, thanks for kind words, turns out I'm about 5 miles from the guys house right now, up here working ahaha but no I won't confront him. I have a good friend who can pull the engine I'm thinking about bottom end rebuild...What are you thoughts?

Im wanting to save for a new engine, but i have no truth in the history of the car considering whats happened so im abit cautious but i guess finding a low mileage lump would be decent, i have a enough friends to drop it in for me. Ive never had a credit card or any debts so as tempting as just sorting it quick goes i cant bring myself to it lol. Ive always saved for things. Ill have a serious think but thanks for everyones input!

My problem being is i dont feel i know enough about these cars yet, id love to get a new engine in it, the noise that engine made from the first mile i drove it kept a grin on my face the whole way home! I am half tempted to keep it covered and save for an engine but its how much it would be to get it swapped. Like i know i could of swapped my SR20DET engine for about 700 quid in the s15, i know its a different ball game but an overall price to have in mind would be nice.

The frustrating part was i went to take an OBD reader with me and forgot about it. But lesson learnt, thanks for your imput on this guys Probably wont be able to afford another z so maybe in the future, but for those 3 hours it was one of the best drives ive had, better than my S15 by miles!

Im not the type to throw punches...lets just say that... Secondly this is a lesson learnt, i took his words for granted when he said his mechanic said the EML was on due to decats. Yes i should of checked the oil but again youd think driving one of these the previous owner would of kept on top of this, if it was a "genuine sale" but then since ive been there hes blocked me off everything. Go figure right?

He told me engine was fine ran fine nothing wrong with it, test drive was about 20 minutes. He also told me the engine management light was on and his mechanic had told him that it was lambda sensors despite there being no decats etc.

Yeah its had a plenum spacer on it, scorpion exhaust and an aftermarket y piece by the look of it, all past MOTs with it, the guy before the guy i bought it off looked like he really well maintained it regularly. REG MF04 XSC

Yup partly my fault not checking oil when i was there i took his word for it, he took me out down the road and it all seemed fine but could of easily topped it up with thicker oil to cover the knock. OR it could just be a case of i didnt check the oil, it was low, i drove it home for 3 hours and it just popped. Either way i just feel like i dont know what to do lol!

It could well of been an honest sale! but the fact when i first messaged him and said the engine is knocking he said "Oh that happened before when the oil got to low for me i just topped it up and it was fine" i was like mate if you had of told me that i wouldnt of bought the car... The service history shows i think it was 5w30 in there Is there nothing else it could possibly be or "you just know that sound is a bottom end gone" like i knew with s15s?

Its basically 3 hours away, swansea south wales to birmingham, ive told him to come down and collect it with my money, im using whats app so hes reading the messages but not replying...

Well thanks for confirming guys, im so disheartend lately with cars, i drove a nissan silvia s15 before that and the bottom end went now this! Curiosity how much are the engines fitted these days? It was the best drive home of a car ive ever had so would be so sad to leave it now.

Soooo ive bought the car driven it home, no gripes at all, noticed literally as i got home the oil light on the dash come on...i noticed pressure was at about 30 all the way home. Heres a video on the engine noise, i think i know what it is...ive put oil in it and still there...but noticed oil pressure is higher now? Yeah the lad says he has it cleared now and again by his garage and it flags up as lambda sensors. Thanks for the quick reply and ive just thoroughly enjoyed reading your build GM! Would love to come see it one day!

Hi guys, My names Craig from Swansea in South Wales. I have been driving a nissan silvia s15 for the past year or so but unfortunately had the dreaded bottom end go on me. Ive always wanted a Z so i thought what better time than now! I think ive found the one i want. In the lovely gun metal grey finish with the gt pack on it. Im just wondering is there anything else i need to look for common faults etc on this? Ive had a browse through and found about the window motors going which this one has no biggie, the rear drive shafts? this one is fine. Im also told the engine management light is on after fitting an exhaust? Im guessing its lamda sensors/spacer etc? Apart from that it looks great. Heres a photo anyway, the carbon wrapped bonnet is going! Cheers Craig!
