Hey guys, First off i hope everyone has had a good christmas and new years i certainly have! Some small progress on the engine swap as everyones been busy with christmas but just in the process of swapping the bits i need off the dead engine to the new engine and fingers crossed the next week or so if it all goes back in without a problem i will be up and running! May be interested in this shortly mate, im pulling some dreadful carbon wrap off mine soon and would probably be cheaper to source this than have it resprayed if damaged!

Hi Guys, Are there any traders or companies anyone's aware of that does an engine gasket kit (vq35de)? Dont really need head gaskets, but everything else. Also if possible ASAP as the engine im hoping to try and get in this week! Cheers Craig

Ill be firing some photos off next week when we start doing it, i will take off the bonnet wrap but judging by the underneath by the seals its been resprayed so im guessing its going to be ugly! The lad i had it off had owned it since April 2013, He might well be a forum member and hope he reads this and someone shits in his sandwiches.

Hi mate thanks very much! No point moping about it just get it done! The bonnet will be removed but the side stripes are growing on me adds a little character to the car so I'm not bothered!

Thanks for the nice words guys, No doubt i will use ClarkMotorsport in the future but i have a handy friend who can contact nissan and get my bits and bobs i need, ill take some photos as we swap it over for you to see

Hi mate thanks for the kind words! I'm not sure what the condition of the clutch is in the car at the moment but have one prepped in case. I'd like to do the flywheel but I have no budget for it unfortunately!

Hey guys, So your probably asking already why the name? Well quick story as im sure some of you are aware ive had a terrible start to zed life! My names Craig and im 26 from Swansea, South Wales. Ive always had this itch for a zed that i wanted to scratch and after my unfortunate bottom end went on my Nissan Silvia S15 i thought what better time than now! So i started to have a look for one and wanted the dark grey and with the GT pack. I thought great found one in Birmingham (but this made me feel a little un easy due to the rep Birmingham seems to have selling cars) But being NAIVE i thought lets at least go take a look, so i dragged my friend to take me up (3 hour drive). We arrived and obviously i got excited it was sat on the drive and looking gorgeous (apart from the gash carbon wrap bonnet and stripes on the side which btw have started to grow on me lol). I inspected the car and looks wise it looked great and underneath looked great. I asked to be taken out for a test drive and the sound of that car just had me going! But again no strange noises everything was great. We negotiated a bit and it was originally up for £5000 and i got it for £4100. It took a bit to get him there so i thought great genuine guy. I drove it home again 3 hours and not a peep and a phenomenal drive home. Stopped at a mates to have a cup of tea and then driving back to my own house i heard a pop and the mother of all knocks and the oil light was on. I thought surely not no way but it sounded identical to the silvia. I pulled over checked the dip stick and low and behold it was as dry as gandi's daps! I thought just out of misery ill throw some oil in but no nothing still knocking. The bottom end had gone on this. Thats two in two weeks! I phoned the guy back up and said mate did you not even top the oil up and he said "oh dont worry about that noise ive had it before just top it up with oil and it goes" to which i screamed some expletives saying "i wouldn't have bought the car if id have known that!" - But that is another story and another post which is finished. So to sum it up, i took for granted that someone owning a car like this would have stayed on top of all the maintenance but this is where Project: NAIVE came in. I SHOULD of checked this myself when i was there but didnt. So moving forward and having a big think. Im hopefully sorting a new engine in the next week or so and will begin to fix it. Plus this community was to fantastic to just stay away from, made me feel right at home straight away! So i felt sorry for zed sitting in the drive today so pulled out the cleaning gear and gave it a mini make over. More to come soon!

Thanks for the points mate, but ive ran Nissan Sbodies highly modified for the last couple of years so running cost not an issue, when i buy the new engine im buying a new clutch for it, makes sense while the engine is out. I can tidy up the bay at the same time! Will - thanks for the option but im never going to drive a golf, its just not me! As mentioned something gripped me driving this car home, it makes me want to sort it. As i said it came with FSH and the previous owner before this guy looked after it immensely and i plan to do the same.

Yes i agree mate, after factoring in the initial pain of a new engine i think i would still make money on it! But i can see me staying with the car for a long time if i change the engine. As mentioned love the car!

Thanks guys, another reason for wanting to keep it, this community! I havent been in a decent community since my Toyota MR2 days! Im based in Swansea mate Define young, im 27 Ive just never needed to have credit so i know nothing about it to be honest, i rent a house so no mortgage etc. I started off with a Nissan Almera, and worked my way up by doing things to the cars and getting a better one, i ended up on a Nissan silvia s15, and since the bottom end went ive dropped abit! lol but as i mentioned something gripped me on this car when i drove it home, this is whats stopping me from getting rid of it.

Thanks mate, i appreciate everyone's comments and yes i know bit naive on my case. But the car was actually up for 5k originally and knocked down to 4700 and i got him down to 4100 by saying ill be there that weekend.

No no im not that stupid...Listen to what im saying... I got the car home, told him it was knocking and he said "OH thats fine mate ive had that before when i let the oil get too low, it made a horrible knocking noise, just put oil in and it goes" If id have known that i wouldn't have bought the car. Now he told me the eml was on due to the lamda sensors which was correct. No other codes show. The only thing im at fault for here is not checking the oil when i was there, that was stupid on my half. SO hands up in that respect, at the end of the day, he killed it the day it first knocked so hes lied in the sale ad.

And if the seller turns up, it's an open and shut case and the OP loses the court fees. Not a good idea. I'd rather lose a couple of hundred quid as I have some proof that he said he ran the oil low and oil light and knocking came before and then said "just put more oil in mate the knock goes", surely that's sold not fit for purpose..
