  1. There is petrol stations on all the main roads I've planned for, but i'll be carrying a 20 ltr jerry can with me just to be safe, I would recommend everybody does this. Spirited driving plus up and down the gear box (lots of hills and twisty roads on this route) will see fuel being used rather quickly !!!

Edit: Also recommend filling up at every station we pass

    20l! blimey lol

A 5 litre backup can is only going to get you 20 miles at best bud and I reckon that would leave you short, well short on some parts of this road trip. But if we are all clever about fueling up then we shouldn't really need the jerry cans, but I'm erring on the side of caution.

  3. Lots of places of interest along the route, best advice I can give is try not to just drive past them, stop and take in the views and take lots of photos, the Fairy pools on Isle of Skye is a must, as is Rannoch Moore and Glen Coe, there's an endless list of things to see and visit. Also the beaches on the north west coast are outstanding. Also if if your passing through Inverness, there's fort George military museum, that's a must if your interested in military history. Like I mentioned in my first post www.visit scotland.com is well worth looking at.

  4. It all in the planning....... and depends if you are going to do the full route. A 20 ltr jerry (in each car) is a very good plan as is filling up at every petrol station you pass..... They can be few and far between on the far north and west of Scotland, but it's not the moon either. www.visit scotland.com is a good starting point, as is doing a Google search for petrol stations on each road / route your planning to take. Be mindful that a lot of these roads are single track and barely black stuff coated on parts. Oh and in April it regularly pisses down up here  so don't be setting off without good out door clothing. It can be up to 15 points colder up here compared to where your coming from. I would also get booking hotels soon, they are not plentiful on some of the places the NC500 takes in.

Yeah I'm still making them matey. I have used an orange for the Z before, it's not a perfect colour match, but it doesn't look out of place in a sunset Zed. Let me know if you'd like me to make you one or have any further queries. ;thumbs:

  9. I understand that Irn Bru And appreciate it, that was what I wanted as well but after speaking to Meggie I decided to leave it mainly because of her attitude. We all going there to have a good time and feel as much comfortable as we can.

You must have caught her at a bad time mate, I've spoken to her 4 times over the last few days and she was very accommodating. Still at least your reasonably close for beer time at the end of each day

  10. Yes was odd that Maggies rates were higher than on the websites, still never mind.

This is going to be EPIC.

Got in from work today to find Mr Postman had been delivering my dash cam + memory card, head unit, new LEDs for the air con unit (not easy to get hold of!) and some 5d vinyl wrap for me to have a play with on the dash. Checked the dash cam and its not a knock off so well chuffed with that (bought a G1WH for £28 from eBay usually they are £40!).

Booking Web sites always get better rates mate, they bring in a lot more business to the hotel, and again booking.com could not give me enough rooms. It's £8 dearer to go direct, not a lot really.

  11. 1: Irn Bru +1 - all booked

    2: Irn Bru's son +1- all booked

    3: Chirag1988 +1 all booked

    4: Coldel all booked

    5: TomBorehamUK +1 Booked

    6: ap427 +1 all booked

I will be staying with you guys at the same hotel on Saturday night, other nights I have booked in different hotels within short distance from you. I have found better deals. It will be EPIC.

Fair enough but I have spent enough time on trying to organise this trip, and I couldn't get the block amount of rooms on any one site so I went direct, couldn't be arsed spending hours on the phone and wasting my time trying to shave £20 off the price. I got what I felt were decent hotels at decent prices that were able to accommodate ALL of us. Not an easy task !!

  12. I'm all booked up now, including first night arrival from London. Really looking forward to this now!! :teeth:

Did you get your group convoy booked into the premier inn from the link I sent you and are you still crashing at our house mate ?

  13. Ohh yeah that is lovely. B)

Not sure if it's £35K lovely but still very nice. ;)

GM........ that escort is .......as my 23yo Focus RS driving son would say "I'd gie ma left nut to own that". Lol

Well a recent article I read said this guy got $350000 just for one nut which in GBP is only £24000 odd so he's still short on the money for that Escort.

I just hope your son hasn't seen the ad then as he'll need to sell both nuts to afford that, :scare: ...unless he p/x's the Focus RS & one testicle for it of course.:lol:
