Morning all. 8am, arrived at Abbey Motosports to do some work. as referenced in a recent thread, I made mention that there are no before / after dynos for bolt ons. only 'after' bolts ons, and after ecu remap. http://www.350z-uk.c...re-after-dynos/ So I am going to have 3 curves on my graph, where most people have 2. 1. Arrival. (stock / current state) 2. pre-ecu tune (all bolts ons fitted) 3. after ecu tune. I'm booked in for the the P3 service, plus the following: '06 airbox (Velocity stack mod) Plenum spacer Sports cats Y pipe Uprev tune. Currently done: Lightweight flywheel Non-resonated Cobra. Lookin forward to a good day 8:30 Interesting...i've just fitted a Cobra non-resonated exhaust, I was meant to be fitting a Y-pipe today, but theres already one fitted !! Result. cant see a stamp on it. not sure of the brand. Thats some money saved today 8:45 Ok first dyno is run. 246whp Happy !! dyno chart will of course go up when i get it. Interestingly.... about Air Intakes. Mark @ Abbey showed me the outputs of the Air intake temperatures. The ambient air temps were around 53celcius, which after its 2nd / 3rd pull temps had dropped to around 15celcius. (im pretty sure those numbers are right. ) for FYI purposes, if anyone has ever wondered why when doing 3 pulls on a dyno you usualy get a little more power each time, its not because your engine is warming up.... 9:10 Car is now in the Magic Room, where wishes come true 9:30 Y-pipe is a Toyosports (found on ebaymore commonly than their website.). The guys found the name plate on the side. 11:30 Liverpool just won the FA Cup! bored of this game now. Next.... 11:35 The guys at Abbey give the car a thorough vehicle inspection. looks like i've got a few problems to fix in the future. Most annoyingly, another nail in my tyre. thats the 2nd in a week. I wonder what i've been driving through. 13:30 I think we must be nearly ready for the remap. dont forget iv had a full service too, and ha to have a puncture repaired. adds a little time. 13:35 Hey look, Stephen Hawking has just released an article saying he thinks A.I will be the end of mankind.   2. just checked out your link. got a little excited myself, until i saw who was selling it!! ...oh and lo behold! Never buying a bean from A1 Jap again. had grief with them over Celica parts before. But, that aside, what is sitting there must be worth something to someone.
  3. I've not seen it done (not that ive looked for it) but 370 fly would be tough for 3.5litres NA on paper for a road car. its over the 100bhp/litre mark. I refer to my signature... so dont listen to anything i say. that being said... get digging for someone who has. Theres a chap here with 340@fly with wild cams The standard specs for the HR cams are: Lift: Intake/Exhaust : 10.5mm/10.5mm Duration: Intake/Exhaust: 248/248 Intake Open: 2º BTDC Intake Close: 66º ABDC Exhaust Open: 68º BBDC Exhaust Close: 0º BTDC Overlap: 2º which you knew that im sure. With your 7,500 rpm rev limit they appear like a very mild grind to me! in fact my DE specs arnt far off. Does the HR have variable timing? (i dont know this answer, but im assuming it must do). that being said, the high rpm limit gives you scope for bigger cams. The first hit i found was GT Motosports on stateside, offering a warm 264/258 duration spec. or Jim Wolf does a couple of specs. https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=3987 Cams will be £800+springs etc before labour fitment. Alot, but leaves you a sizable budget left. This must have been asked before.... but i cant see it in the recent posts, and its a common word to be searching for. does anyone have these fitted to their Zed? look absolutely awesome! will go so well with probably any bodykit. especially the Chargespeed with its slotted vents.   9. Rather than join in, i'll just say; where is the dyno. If its just a 'heat soak ''issue'' ' then why is this any different to any other car? its just an age old argument of hot air vs cold air discussed from armchairs, rather than dyno'd intakes.

  11. Everybody knows that the induction kits lose power on the 350z. Everyone. if you dont know that then your clearly not reading through the forums enough I am going to Abbey M/S next week for bits done, and their recommendation too is not to use an aftermarket induction kit but to use the '06 airbox for 'maximum HP' Then reading through post after post from forum members everyone keeps repeating the same answers ''induction kits LOSE you power'', lose is the key word here. Not worth the money, or dont make as much power as a '06 airbox, etc i could understand. but lose. Lose ?? So, i did what any normal person would do - and i searched around the UK forums looking for the dyno that showed that an aftermarket induction kit loses power over OEM. Found it. here it is: <link> and then I also searched the US forum too. again, found one here too <link> If you are having trouble opening the links above, its because they dont exist... i cant find these illusive dynos. Anyone know where they are?   12. Mouthwash, whats wrong with the MeistrRs? wasnt sure if that was sarcasm on your part. £350 is a very low budget. OEM replacements all round must be more than that? Springs come into your budget though....

  14. Check the door : OUCH flamed. well, that was my experience anyway just a few weeks ago. maybe you guys have had yours too long and havent had to look at a 10yr old Zed that havent been forum owned and looked after.
  15. maybe i typed that wrong... i meant walk away from any owner/dealer that doesnt know about this most common of faults, because that means they dont know the car, or are lying.
  16. i bought mine a month ago - best tip i can give you, when you phone up ANY sale (private or trade) when you ask them about the usual MOT, service history etc etc, ask the question: ''what is the condition of the inside drivers door?'' the plastic there scratches and chips really badly. anyone who answers 'its fine' or sounds confused about why youv'e asked this bizzare question... walk away! I found some private owners who said on the phone that it was fine. got there an it was scratched to buggary (which is normal. no big deal) but unsurprisingly, they lied about some other things too! and in terms of dealers... this question will catch them out if they actually havent even sat in it to drive it yet themselves. I am about to send some bits off for wrapping, i need some odds and sods if anyone has some to keep me on the road. monies will be exchanged of course I require the following: Washer fluid bottle Cap Powersteering bottle Cap. OEM intake pipe (not the airbox) Battery Cover, 'fly-eye' and the black cornerstone plastic beneath it. Brake fluid Cover, 'fly-eye' and the black cornerstone plastic beneath it.   20. its about 4 inches in dia, too big for a front badge, plus its battery powered. would need to waterproof it, then 12v feed it, and make it smaller, and... yea. that would be tricky. at night, and during the day, its a as colourful as the first picture i uploaded with it on the table. problem with my phone camera is that it thinks its too bright a light source as adjusts the contrast/brightness so the colour is lost. my rear windows are tinted, so during the day i would have it turned off, so you can see it if you look for it. with the light on during the day it almost looks like a little glowing face. pretty cool. maybe i should get a picture of that instead....   22. something with a round logo i think would work better with it than what i went for. maybe re-design the 350z-uk forum log to fit into a round hole eh? lol 2 likes out of 2 replies.... thats better than i thought. maybe it looks better in the pictures than the flesh. lol Gumball 3000 would be awesome, if i ever went on that trip lol.

  24. now granted this is with a camera phone, so it messes up the contrast a little. but here goes.... So there. i think if this was something textually graphic, like, the GumBall 3000 logo or something, then it may look more awesome. what i have acheived, it to look like a muppet. lol. but it was worth a punt. i bet no-1 else has ever given this a go eh?
