  1. Is it parked on the flat or a slope when not in use?
  2. Oh so they don't look like beetles and dont have an engine behind the back axle lol, I must get my eyes tested.I wasn't antagonising anyone it was an analogy
  3. I like design not one companies struggle to hone and perfect what in essence is a silly idea. Now that's my rant on the 911 esque range of porche lineage but the poor man's choice the boxster and cayman now they are really excellent to drive. I would definitely have one of those
  4. I've had this with other cars, is there a stronger smell of petrol after you've driven it around the area of the filler cap? Sometimes the rubber seal on the cap fails.
  5. Of course insurers also factor in vehicle crime stats versus the amount of claims per vehicle type and repair costs. One of my current clients is Thatcham research and they work in partnership with other agencies such as Audatex. One studies impact survivability on new cars in an independent crash lab and assesses repair techniques etc. The other then translates this as a measure for any particular vehicle relating to insurance.
  6. One of my roles for a previous employer was accident investigator . Also our most popular type of accident whilst driving was a rear end shunt, driving to close to the vehicle in front or lack of observation at traffic signals/junctions. This was followed in second place by crossing another vehicles priority. Interesting also that excess speed wasn't a major factor in most accidents but the fatality rate increased in those accidents involving speed.
  7. It's a misconception that the ladies have less accidents,in reality men and women have roughly the same amount of accidents on average. The distinction especially within the 17 to 25 bracket is the type of accident. It's all to do with biology, the men having ancestry relating to hunting and gathering are mentally better on average at spatial awareness tasks and take more risks especially relating to speed. The ladies are more cautious whilst driving but less capable of spatial awareness tasks. Hence male accidents are usually more devastating and expensive whereas the ladies are more than likely low speed car park type dings. There has been a trend of more ladies having higher speed accidents but insurance companies put this down to the increase in career women owning more powerful cars. Any device that slows down new drivers is a good idea and also anything that helps reduce the extortionate premiums they pay is also good. So to recap, men and women crash on average in equal measure but the value of the claims is lower for women on average because the accidents are usually low speed. There is a distortion of figures relating to technology such as mobile phones or driving under the influence, these factors confuse the accident figures but don't occur in a sufficient number to affect the average. Women in general are safer than men end of.
  8. Avoid Honda Reds unless your garaging it, they fade badly. Cool cars the S2k's, and the later the better as early ones were very unpredictable.
  9. Lol. In a day you will love it, own it a few months and you will long for something else, that's how the buggers at BMW get ya!
  10. Last night between Tesco and the A34 about quarter to eight, looked good
  11. The most reliable cars I have ever owned were 1) Honda CTR EP3 2) Focus RS every German car bar the 330 has let me down, Jap is the way forward.
  12. Good for them, did they have a low mileage one. Mine has cost me an average of 600 a month in maintenance over the last 6 months!
  13. Nice engine when its looked after. I sold these to fund it, 330ci and my beloved FRP
  14. I had a rather unfortunate one on my old Honda NSF 125cc bike many many moons ago. Not a personalised plate but close. It was C566 UNT.
  15. Mine on the M3 at 41 is 350 fully comp with a 100 quid excess.The Z is 324.
  16. I have an E46 manual, looks awesome and goes like stink. However the S54 engine requires more tlc than any other car I've owned.Every month there is something else that needs doing. It's certainly not the best car to own or drive. The E92 is better only by the virtue that maintenance is measured and incremental, nice V8 too.
  17. That's the strange thing I have always been a considerate driver but in a bmw or audi other road users on the whole don't like you.
  18. It's ok I have photo bucket
  19. Cheers guys, I can't wait to pick her up and get detailing. I assume this site requires a hosting page for pics?
  20. It's not often in over 24 years of driving I have nirvana moments. There have been two occasions in that time and don't laugh but they have all been front drivers up till now.The first was back in the day when I grabbed myself a Mk1 golf gti, this led to two Mk2's after. The second was a totally by chance test drive in a Ford puma, that took all of 100yds for me to realise that the cutesy looks hid a well sorted steer, I ended up owning 4 including a FRP. Now don't get me wrong I've had RS fords, type r Honda s and plenty of BMWs including the M3 but none come close to that feeling the Z induces.I travelled 200yds in it and that nirvana feeling returned, I'm going to have more than one of these I just know it
  21. Nice low mile GT in metallic grey with black leather etc. Pick it up Monday and trading in my M3 for a wee profit. Sweet.
  22. Well I've found a Z, should be picking it up next Monday. Although the M3 was a nice steer it didn't have the fun factor of the Z. It also attracted idiots like flies to a turd. Plus the temptation and ease at which it accelerated made it a danger to a petrol head like me. I've gone for an early 05 GT spec car. I knew as soon as I heard the exhaust note and felt the steering feedback in the Z it had to be done. Most people think I'm mad going from an M to a Z,but outright speed isn't my priority. A car that talks to me and makes me smile on the twisties means more. So bye bye M3 it was good but don't believe the hype it wasn't good enough.
