  1. My last offence was in a CTR on the A339 Alton road in Hampshire. It was circa 2003 and I went for an early Sunday morning blat. I had been following a lardy golf doing about 45mph and when he turned off I opened the taps into a lovely well sighted straight of about 2 miles in length. I was concentrating on the road when I spotted a little white spec ahead. It turned out to be an old colleague from Farnborough RPU and his 20.20 van, bugger! I pulled up behind him and we exchanged pleasantries accordingly, how's the family etc etc. I then asked him what I was clocked at and he said 94 mph. He made a gesture about scrubbing it but I knew this would jeopardise his data up to that point, so I said "no" I did wrong and should be punished accordingly. The offshoot was a court appearance on a clean licence at more than 50% over the posted limit which gave me two options. The first was 6 points and a £500 fine or a 28 day suspension and a £250 fine with no points. I took the second option and was able to book holiday from work to cover it. Since then as stated in the recent article by Ekona slow is the new fast for me. My driver training had led to overconfidence which resulted in this offence occurring. As for track days lol, well the last time I went for an instructed session I was marked as very smooth and safe but won't win any races, the instructor knew instantly I was an ex copper
  2. Well new battery fitted and as yet no issues. The idle has also improved. Looking at the history the battery I removed was only the second one fitted in over 11 years so needed a change anyway. What with all new OEM O2 sensors and various other bits it should be ok now. Not holding my breath though, I think maybe new aux belts and an alternator check next
  3. I think the plan will be new battery then a check for water ingress around the bulkhead. I only say this as my driveway slopes downwards and pitches slightly to the offside of the car and worth checking.
  4. The list of issues I've had recently have been annoying. 1)CEL light cause rear O2 sensor, both replaced. 2)Central locking not functioning correctly, new fob battery. 3) CEL light front sensor fail to heat, both replaced OEM. 4) Sidelight bulb gone and then mysteriously works again after two weeks. Aside from the sidelight issue which was a faulty connection all other CEL issues have returned and all rear their ugly heads when the electrical system is loaded eg when it's cold and I have multiple things on. I'm now thinking it's the battery as this morning my fob mucked about again only unlocking one side.
  5. Cheers for the offer mate but I'm going to hold out for some facelift ones I think.
  6. Sod it I'm just going to get facelift bi xenons instead. I've now used a fine cutting compound but it looks like one small spot has been damaged by the glue so further cutting is pointless.A shame as the rest of the lights are fine bar one inch and a half patch where the glue has eaten the cover. Thanks for the input guys.
  7. If they're still available, please could I have them? PM sent
  8. The previous owner of my Z installed brows paint matched to the car. I didn't mind them but noticed the lens underneath were trapping heat and starting to damage the surface of the lights. Today I removed them and by christ were they bodged on. The putty like substance was easy to remove but what appears to be superglue type stuff was also present. After a good clean I still have glue on the light cover one side and was wondering what sort of solvent destroyer would sort it. I need to be careful as it may have eaten into the cover a little. Oh and if anyone wants a free pair of GM brows they can have them
  9. I can't even remember what snow looks like
  10. I'm not keen on Mercs latest styling and those graphics really ruin it.
  11. Saudi is merely a case of wealth protecting it's own kind, what people don't see is the abject poverty some are in over there. Regardless I do agree the medieval barbarism ISIS employ is a different league but inhumanely beheading someone is still wrong when lethal injection would suffice.
  12. Now if the Italians were leading the charge it really would be serious What was the old joke, ahh yes it was something about Italian tanks in WW2 having one forward gear and five reverse gears.
  13. The middle east merry go round continues apace. After the war my old grandad stayed in service and was involved in Palestine and Suez. He always said never trust an Arab as face to face they smile and shake your hand but if you turn round they will stab you in the back Obviously that's a generalisation and as we sit here passing judgement I can't help but feel the double edged sword is being pulled from its scabbard. ISIS are an abomination taking extreme actions with intention of shocking civilised people worldwide, the irony is the state of Saudi beheaded over 80 people last year and yet money and oil speak in softer tones. ISIS is indeed on a mission to convert non radicals but their flaw is rooted in the tribalism within Islam, more Muslims have been killed by other Muslims than any western folk. The Suni and Shite (spell) casts are also at war here perpetuating years of unrest, throw in the formation of a Jewish state and the recipe for disaster was served. The only option with ISIS is action, targeted air strikes are intended to assist those ground forces already striking back at them. Ideally this should have been actioned when ISIS were a smaller outfit and they were evolving, they are a result of disconcerted individuals who were fuelled by previous western involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hence the double edged sword, we will I'm sure as a unified front defeat ISIS but be prepared for escalation everywhere and also be prepared for the next re branding of what is essentially a medieval ideology abusing religious belief. My field is the security sector and to all those doubting air strikes I say this "Even before the decision was made to bomb Syria the amount of tangible threats to the UK had increased ten fold in the last 12 months, inaction or action makes no difference to our current threat level".
  14. A bargain for someone, if I didn't already have exactly the same system I would have bitten your hand off for this
  15. I did exactly the same mod
  16. Right I've now replaced both pre cat sensors as I threw a 0130 code. However there were also failed to heat codes for both post cat sensors which are also new.Question is would this possibly be a consequence of the original upstream fault and the car not fuelling etc right or could it be a blown fuse or similar. I'm going to run the car until it comes back on but in the meantime any advice on where the fuse is for the heated rears would be appreciated. The original issue appeared on the first sub zero morning we had last week, maybe just coincidence.
  17. What he said ^^ I can see it's a manual. Same year as my old one.
  18. Well I ran the code and it's 0130 so a pre cat sensor bank one. I'm going to get both replaced tomorrow as I don't want my new cats buggered.
  19. Time to get the car mapped I think, first cold start of the year and a month after having new post Cat sensors fitted the CEL comes on. Reading up it seems to be fairly common with Berk HFCs fitted. Same code as before relating to post O2 sensors.
  20. I just don't drink the shite full stop. I would agree with a zero tolerance policy tbh. Various people react to alcohol in different amounts for example an old friend of mine during our years of misspent youth was safer after ten pints than when he was sober. He still got clobbered eventually first receiving a year ban then a three year one, only then did he wisen up and stop drinking and driving! I also know people that aren't right after a glass of wine.
  21. EVO motors is ok and he does get some good low milers in.
  22. This will more than likely be an ISIS sleeper cell activated after France bombed training camps in Syria last week.
