  1. I love the Exige, to be fair the Elise is a belter anyway.Even a Vx220 is a proper tool, love em.
  2. Haha what a read. My OH does the clothes on the floor thing and a bit of overnight washing up from time to time. Other than that she does the washing and the house on a Sunday and I potter and hoover etc during the week. Because I work 12 hours and she works 8 we have devised a balanced routine.
  3. I remember the days of stressing over my first stone chip .I was that bad once I used to put off driving when it rained or there was salt on the roads. My friends thought I had OCD big time. I'm not as bad now thankfully. The novelty of a new car wears off after six months now when the new reg comes out at least we used to have a year to glory in it The big positives are warranty and tech, I will certainly buy new again one day but only when I have the cash to do so. I remember picking up my last CTR which was the last new car I bought, five years of trouble free motoring and waiting to collect the keys in the showroom whilst the salesman babbled on.All I wanted to do was get in the car and go but listened to the blurb out of politeness
  4. My children have enriched my life so much, they put a massive strain on our relationship for a while but we are through that now. My son is now 18 and fairly independent (that's why I bought a two seater ) my daughter is 10 so a few years to go yet. I'm glad we worked out our issues by talking and appreciating what we had was worth saving. It's so easy to get into a rut and all to easy for the stress of the everyday to wade in and scupper things. It may be a cliché but we started by talking about when we first met and what attracted us to each other, this provided a benchmark to take the conversation forward to the present day and the reasons we were drifting apart was obvious.
  5. I gave up on new cars many years ago when my second child was born. I used to be the kind of individual that bought new cars on HP or bank loans and yes to be fair it was generally trouble free motoring or covered by warranty. PCP doesn't interest me but I know a few people that change up every few years on these schemes and they seem to be fairly happy with the deals they get. It certainly suits those egocentric types who like a new reg every few years. These days I buy outright older vehicles I can afford that are pretty reliable and any money I would normally have spent on a loan etc gets saved in various ISA s and put towards my GTR fund. It also allows me a maintenance or modding fund for the current Z should I need it. I suppose having a mortgage and children has just made me more cautious with money these days.
  6. I consider any car doing sub 7 seconds to 60 mph as quick, sub 5 seconds fast and sub 4 seconds as unaffordable
  7. Will a thicker one fit under an HR strut brace?
  8. I think Jez was impressed at Hdev with the gains. It was 281bhp before the map so was pretty solid plus it had a P3 service beforehand which helped I imagine. Motordyne ok thanks.
  9. I'm currently in the process of face lifting my 05 DE. Rear lights done and bi xenons should arrive late this week or early next week. I've had the Uprev done and she's pushing out a healthy 295bhp, so the next step is either a plenum spacer or an aftermarket one. If required I will get an HR bonnet and brace to raise the available height under the bonnet. Suggestions on plenum options welcome. Thanks.
  10. Yes, good idea about the camera, have one front and back but haven't thought about using it for that. That's exactly how the Class 1 police do their training, lucky blighters. We didn't have cameras back in the early 90s during Road craft training and grade 1 wasn't employed for all traffic officers, I only completed grade 2 high powered pursuit. We employed a verbal commentary system as part of our assessment, but cameras would have been a superb tool to analyse back in the classroom. The onboard Vascar system was consulted occasionally after a run but we had no rear facing device on our Senators
  11. I bought this one in a sale for £80 IIRC. Money very well spent - it's an awesome kit with working diff, drive shafts (so you can see the V8 in motion, although there are no cylinder heads so I think compression was compromised ). Brilliant kit, just go buy it Brillo I bought this for my boy, I also paid about £80.
  12. Always easier if you don't have children together, harder if you do.
  13. I just let them crack on, my licence is required to earn a living and I'm not losing it for toffee.
  14. Facelift possibly black last three on reg XYZ. Didn't flash as I was following in a van
  15. I'm a huge Honda fan, B series civic type R, EP3 Type R, DC2 and DC5 R's and an NSX 3.0 manual. The S2k is the only one I never tried funnily enough The Z I have now replaced a manual E46 M3 which in my opinion wasn't that good. The Z is a good compromise between all of the above if practicality isn't an issue for you.
  16. In my modest world your living the dream, what a superb set up to have in your back garden. I have a shed sticker acquired from Bob but I've never visited the hallowed turf. I must get down and visit when it's all done (if of course you don't mind )
  17. I had a Sinclair C5 once, does that count? Some long and lengthy posts on this topic so I will keep it short and sweet. We will at some point need a replacement for petrol and diesel powered vehicles. Whether or not it's purely EV I doubt it but who knows. It's admirable that manufacturers are pushing the boundaries although as businesses they need to adapt to make money. I have one hobby and it's cars, the thought of EV makes me cringe. I'm sure being forced to adapt to different powertrains in the future won't come easy to most but we will adapt I'm sure. The advent of this new tech may introduce even more dire consequences to die hard car fans such as the full automation of the road networks. The need to physically drive a car may disappear altogether. Let's not be to hasty in heralding the new age of EV motoring and let's hang on to our hobby for now please. Go fill your boots with EV if that's your thing, personally they bore the shite out of me.
  18. They'll use your passport one where possible. Hope so as it's the same photo
  19. Ironically my latest licence is due to expire this May. They will be receiving the same photo they did in 06, let's see if they notice.
  20. Looks like 1167. Mine was a continual pain for rear O2 sensors especially after having high flow cats fitted. I've since had them mapped out, lovely.
  21. I like the road manners of the 350, it's a nice planted well balanced chassis that responds best to smooth driving much like any rear driver. Yes it can be provoked if desired but the steering feel and throttle respond very well when it does so. It's a car that deserves respect when driving and makes you work a little harder than throwing around a hot hatch with FWD and it's that driver involvement I like. As a petrolhead it ticks an awful lot of boxes for me.

    GT-Four

That's a damn fine car sir!
  23. I average around 25 mpg in my DE since the Uprev map. Before it was done it was around 27 but it was running very lean. What were the official figures for both DE and HR engines at launch? I would happily trade off a few mpg for the newer HR engine with a higher rev limit to be fair.

    Fuel

I receive about £25 every few months in fuel vouchers from Shell. I use my loyalty card on my company motor as well as my own so not great but better than nothing. They also send through vouchers for other things if you choose that instead.
  25. Welcome Basingstoke here, I once had a Mk1 RS focus, damn fine cars and looked after by Tremona garage Enjoy the Z and look out for meets in the regional meets section.
