I had mine replaced last year when I added Day Running Lights. I've also got some Ebay specials 6000k and swapped those orange indicator light bulbs with slivertec bulbs. As OP said, its PITA to get to the tight spots and mine was a little bit easier as I took the whole unit out. As for night performance, I don't think these Ebay specials are any brighter than OEM ones (they looked nice and not overly bright to dazzle others). If you are driving a lot at nights, I would go for those Osram or Philips night breaker or something similar.

One of the boot popper decided to give way this morning. For the past few days, I've been struggling to open the boot by one hand only and suspected the poppers are less effective due to the cold. (I've already added a few washers last year to fix the non-popping issue) I know Clark Motorsports sells them but I'm wondering if I can get them somewhere else cheaper? I suppose I need to change both to get an even spring load on both sides rather than replacing just one side. Does anyone know the part number? I might try my local Nissan garage. Cheers!

He says in his post he's done the pedal trick lol.. I thought he did the pedal dance to read the fault code, but didn't reset the ECU.

Try the pedal dance (i'm assuming its same for UK and import). See if the issue reoccurs again after. Not an expert on this but we have few forum members reporting similar issue and it seems to be something to do with recent weather (condensation etc). You might not need a new sensor after all. Give it a try before you spend any money on it.
