  1. Volvo are just trying to reduce costs and increase profits. I have a 2017 XC60 D5 polestar as a daily. It's comfortable, well spec'd and surprisingly quick....ish. I like it, so I test drove the new xc90 D5 when it was released and was horrified. I was expecting the same 2.4 5 cylinder twin turbo diesel as my car, but it has a 4 pot 2.0 diesel. It sounded cheap, really struggled to move such a big car and just felt wrong. The salesman gave me some bs about being eco friendly and that's the companies priority. Kind of falls flat when you find out you can't buy a v40 with a smaller engine than the xc90!?! There is also nothing eco friendly about a 2.0l diesel struggling to move a huge SUV. Every Volvo gets the same 2.0l, 4 pot engine whether it's a £17k v40 or a £70k top spec XC90 D5. It's ridiculous.

    MOT failed

I was just looking at the dorman ones on Adrian's site. The ebay ones seem to good to be true at that price.

    MOT failed

I'm going to replace the arms I think. Ball joints can't be in great condition after 12 years. Everytime I think of a new exhaust something expensive crops up. Which brand and did you go with? Are these eBay specials awful?

    MOT failed

Is there any benefit to replacing the banana arms? Car has done 39k miles. Replacing the bushes is a lot cheaper.

    MOT failed

I thought the same regarding the w brace. They seem to think it's the subframe rather than a brace. They must have not seen many Z's. Thanks for for the heads up re the bushes. Thought id call nissan for a laugh. £950 and a 28 day wait for a w brace and 2 banana arms.

    MOT failed

My car just failed its MOT due to excessive corrosion on the w brace and failed rubber bushes on the front suspension arms. Surely I just need to replace the bushes and not the arms as the garage have suggested? The arms are fine, but the guy at the garage said "it can be difficult to remove and replace the bushes". Thanks
  7. How much do these cost to run if you do around 4K miles a year? I'd use a independent garage for servicing not Nissan.

    Changing gear knob

I'll try that first. I'm glad I seen the thread about removing them as I would have probably damaged my gearbox if it's on as tight as most are.

    Changing gear knob

I got it from rhdjapan. I was worried it might take a while to arrive but i only ordered it 5 days ago.

    Changing gear knob

Couldn't find a Tommy k hebi bebi so went with the second best option. Did consider another oem but they wear so badly. Never seen one that looks good.
  11. I'm about to change the gearknob on my z. Ive seen a few vids and threads where people remove the trim surrounding the stick, to grip the stick with mole grips. Is there any reason why they don't just wrap a cloth around the gaiter and grip the stick without removing anything? im scared of breaking a clip/tab or something removing the trim. Thanks
  12. I think the most important thing with these roofs is keeping them well lubricated due to their over complicated design. Some say they won't operate in cold temps but mine is works fine on cold days. Not much help with your issue I know. My350z has a roadster section with loads of info on various roof problems.

    Golf R

Great cars. And the 1 year deals at £299 per month are very tempting. Ridiculously quick on uk roads but a bit sterile and unexciting for some.
  14. Pretty sure Tarmac has very similar.
  15. I had both. Mario kart is the best game on either. And street fighter 2 was better on snes. The good old days. £40 for a game was a lot of money back then as a kid.

    Fuel line leak?

Could well be. I've got a feeling it's a slow leak so something like that would make sense. It's going for its mot this week so it will get sorted.
  17. W brace seems to be prone to rust. Aftermarket replacements are better and not that expensive.

    Fuel line leak?

I'm confused. Just had a mobile mechanic out to fix it and.........no leak. Could it be the fuel has dropped to to low a level in the tank? I assumed it was a line because it only leaked when the engine was running? It was a dry day when I noticed the leak, pissing down this morning.
  19. If you look on US forums some expensive systems have a lot of issues. Injen and stillen seem to get a lot of bad reviews regarding quality and longevity which surprised me. Exhausts have gone up considerably since the last time I was on here, no doubt due to the weak pound. Makes Japspeed look even better value than they did previously.
  20. Older autos are bad if youve driven a PDK, DCT or newer ZF. My daily is a 2017 xc60 D5. I got it because of the high spec and big discount at the time. I wanted an auto initially, but had to order a manual as I found the auto unbearably slow and sluggish. The dealer looked offended when I said it was dog ****. Only way to know is a test drive as mentioned above.

    Steering wheel

Is it possible to have the airbag cover trimmed? This is the next job on my list. Just ordered a new gear knob to replace the original so the wheel will look tired.
  22. I've just bought some poor boys natural look. It's recommended on detailing forums and my350z. I'm going to clean them first with APC to get rid of the car plan cockpit shine rubbish.
  23. My door cards are in really good condition, but the car plan interior cleaner I used has left them looking a bit "streaky". What is the best product for cleaning door cards and giving a nice (not too glossy), even finish? Preferably something I can get in a shop rather than online. Thanks
  24. I would get the newest, lowest mile car you can afford. A 80k car quickly becomes a 100k car, which is always a problem come resale time regardless of what anyone says.
