  1. So my clear gun isn't anywhere as near important as my base gun? Im debating whether to use the Sata mini jet I'm considering for base and clear until I can afford a secondary dedicated clear gun. I'm also tied between a 1.0sr tip or a 1.2sr
  2. Iv read using a spray primer I'm more likely to get solvent pop and bubbles through my base coat?
  3. I was considering using the same gun for laquer/ base coat but iv been advised to spend good money on a base gun and suffice with a cheaper laquer gun as opposed to using the same one for both ? Due to cleaning and bits curdling and sticking to the fluid needle meaning I'd blast the occasional bit of crap out onto the job?
  4. I feel for you Ricey. Do you now need to primer/paint that again before dipping? I'd get carried away and dip my shoes, dip everything if I got into that
  5. That brings me to another question, is epoxy based filler/ glue suitable to fill in kerbs before sanding/primer in? I hear of people doing this as opposed to body filler.
  6. Thanks guys, to be honest, I deal with bodyshops everyday most of whom would be happy to help me out. I just fancy a go myself doing small bits in my garage. Like somebody else said, I'd feel a bit in the way! Not to mention im exploring all avenues for advice because I feel like I'm hounding painters lately with all my questions! Lol Iv also came to the conclusion I'm probably best buying a mini jet. Full size guns take 15cfm or more and I'm looking at 14 cfm Compressors (probably the 50l) 3hp V engined one. So I'd probably not be able to efficiently run a full sized gun as opposed to a mini jet. I'm not looking at painting anything massive (bodyshops for that!) not to mention their better compressor and particularly filtration. And their time served experience of course.
  7. Compressors - bigger the better? I know it's all about cfm but I'm looking at burisch 50l and 100l Compressors both putting out about 14 cfm, price difference is £210 as opposed to £270. I might as well get the bugger one and not regret having the smaller one right? Both 3hp
  8. Spraying in the garage, I plan on getting some patio heaters to bake/ warm before paint.
  9. Thanks guys! Any tips for lacquering spokes? Do the faces first and then carefully lay it in between or spokes first then faces? I'm doing my touring alloys first that are fairly rounded so I won't have a problem.
  10. Iv averaged 20.5 over the year. Added up all my fuel receipts
  11. Thanks guys, I'm learning everyday lol. Today iv found out the difference between etch primer and regular primer, and never to use the same gun for primer as you would for basecoat/ laquer. I'm going to buy the kit after Xmas and read up until then on what to do/ what not to do. You may take the above for granted but that's because you've probably done it before! Also been looking at some patio heaters to bake alloys
  12. The last thing I want is to be flatting out a laquer run! Even on a wheel. I'm going to practice, practice and practice before I try painting anything of value. I just don't want to buy cheap and buy twice really.
  13. Thanks guys, iv seen a 50l 14.6cfm compressor I like the look of. Iv been told moisture traps are essential, i think il try and get that second hand devilbliss gti and a cheap fast mover mini jet for primer. Wheels are tricky I know, but if I mess them up I can redo them. Panels are a bit different! I will practice on a scrap door or the fridge freezer or something. Maybe get a knackered alloy from somewhere to practice on. My dad's wheels on his passat are crap so I can have a go painting his when I feel I've got the hang of it! Wheels also hide minor imperfections. Panels don't.
  14. Has anybody painted panels or alloys before with a spray gun? I know there will be some people here with repair/ refurb experience. I'm considering buying a gun and compressor and having a go myself painting my alloys & my father's. At the moment I'm just eyeing up a decent gun and equipment and undecided whether to go for a mini jet which would probably be better for what I want or picking up a second hand gun such as the devilbliss gti (seen one for £120 on ebay) Also tip sizes, most are 1.3 and I wondered if there's an ideal tip size for primer/ base coat/ laquer?
  15. My video consist of 'whaaaat? I can't hear you over this loud exhaust'
  16. Dan & Stevo please so some form of carpool karaoke. Atomic kitten or something. Throw I'm some scantily clad wimmins and you will be viral in no time

    Fuel Costs

I have owned my zed since September last year so just over a year. Since ownership I have kept every single fuel receipt (mainly so the next owner knows iv ran on super unleaded). I've done 4226 miles in total, loads of short journeys included, to and from work everyday which is less than two miles one way. So in total over the year I have filled up with 939.39 Litres which is 206.63 gallons. Which equates to 20.45mpg average. Altogether the spend on fuel was £1,132 which equates to 26p per mile. I thought this might be of some use to somebody. I love every mile of it
  18. Mine had it, mine had small pieces coming away with age so I removed it to prevent them getting sucked in. I didn't know until now it came with the airbox. Exact same. I still have it in the garage.
  19. Bonnet is flaking, good price though. Check tyres as new decent tyres add up (£125 each for Michellin pilot super sports) the bonnet will be £200 to re spray, hopefully from a decent bodyshop who can match the colour without blending into the wings. Check window motors work, take it for a blast to make sure clutch isn't slipping and rev needle sticking or fluttering/ hesitating. When stopped after make sure no smells of clutch. Test drive with window down to listen for noises. New exhaust is a cost also (cobra exhausts sit at £550ish +£250 for y pipe) or you could go back to standard for about £400. Edit:also noticed the rays alloys are flaking. If you want to refurb these factor in £50 per wheel. On the plus side rays are good alloys I hope I haven't came across as negative lol just trying to cost any repairs . oh! And if you do check oil level which is advised make sure you check where the hole is before you pull it out! I checked when I bought mine from a dealer and it's an awkward stick to put back in!
  20. I've just renewed for the year £303 fully comp with exhaust declared (elephant) Previously was with Axa @ £420 fully comp - this renewal they wanted £550 I'm quite happy about this years premium. 25 y/o 8yr ncb
  21. I love it when a plan comes together, hope they get what's coming to them. People steal because they're scumbags, the drugs are only an excuse.
  22. I think the s15 looks nice as well, let's face it with these cars it's about performance rather than how they look. We need more budget turbo rwds.
  23. Iv been looking at Nissan S13/S14 for sale on eBay and auto trader etc. Most look like they've been abused for 15+ years and have bumpers hanging off and interior ripped out, roll cages etc. There are still some nice unmodified examples out there. What are people's thoughts or experiences? They are praised as one of the best tunable engines.
  24. I had recently bought a samsung galaxy s6 refurbished off ebay (same as you sim only and to replace my galaxy s3 i had from new) Then recently at work my boss asked if i wanted to buy his samsung galaxy s7 edge for £200. I had to. Its great! and I have one of those cool flip cases included which knock the hpone off once closed so I don't pocket dial anyone like I did with my last phone.
  25. Same as ekona, dvla and insurance. But then again I didn't have a particular service garage nor a pcp agreement
