  1. I am considering buying a UK set of clocks for the Fairlady as the speedo on my car is calibrated in Km/h with no MPH indicator. I have previously tried a couple of Speedo converters which I have found to be crap basically. Fleabay are selling MPH clocks previously used on UK zed's and I am wondering if anyone knows whether simply removing mine and replacing with a UK set of clocks would give me an accurate MPH reading? Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Hi Zedders, I recently posted a thread re, quality of the Zed's factory fitted bose system. On reflection, this doesn't sound too bad - at least when your standing still.. I am running Bridgestone Potenzas on mine but with windows and volume up, the road noise is so loud, I can't even here the lyrics !! I'm interested in opinions on here as to whether the Zed does suffer from road noise to a large extent or whether the bose really is a crap bit of kit?
  3. hmmmm.. I think its the speakers that are rubbish
  4. Say it isn't so, but my opinion is that the zed's standard bose audio system is rubbish. Anyone agree? I know there is a lot about this on here but can anyone recommend some - not good - but GREAT speakers for this car? I am interested in a couple of 6.5's two rear and a sub. ta
  5. The problem with supplying your own parts is that you tend not to get a guarantee as the garage will argue that the problem may lie with the part you supplied. I had this recently with a speed delimeter/converter and the twats local to me now don't want to know. Perhaps I will fit this myself but need to ensure that it is sealed tight as mentioned earlier on here.
  6. Thanks. I am still in two minds. I want the work done but not at the expense of a new pair of lights. RT-Perf want £300 for the work with me supplying my own lights but at least I know it will be done properly even tho I think the price is rather OTT.
  7. Anyone on here know how easy/difficult it is to split the headlights on a Zed? I have purchased an LED flexible strip and want to hook up DRL's inside the existing headlight unit. However, the feedback I have had is that it may be hard to open up the headlight without A) damaging the lens or ensuring an adequate seal when they are put back together. Either way, I cant get a quote from garages until they know whether or how difficult it is to split the headlight unit? Anyone on here dunnit? Would you advise it? Ta
  8. m8 thanks so much for the pics. I opened up the fob as you suggested and guess what? Soldered and fixed it. What a rubbish design. Short of emailing Nissan Japan, any idea on how I can get a duplicate (have immobilizer code) when this one inevitably breaks again? Nissan UK doesn't stock this fob.
  9. Thanks for your reply. Im sure this is not aftermarket. There is no battery. Any idea how much I would be looking at for a replacement? Here is a pic of the immobilizer fob:
  10. This is a proximity fob that came with the car when it was imported. It is entirely separate from the door key; There is no battery. I believe it is a Cobra system that came as standard.
  11. Can anyone on here (with experience of this problem) shed any light on how much its gonna cost me to buy a new immobilizer fob from a stealer? I have checked fuses, cleaned contacts etc but the immobilizer won't disengage. I've got the code on a sliver tag so hopefully its just a case of purchasing and programming the fob. - For anyone that's had this problem, make my day and tell me its £50+... Thanks in advance
  12. Chris (Cs2000) has advised me to ask the question on here as to whether anyone knows where I can change my projector headlights to a custom upgrade incorporating LED DRL's in the Zed headlight unit. I know there are some stockists in the US but it has already been pointed out that with the beam direction and fitting, I am playing with fire following this route. In terms of what i'm looking for, HID's would be nice but not essential. Anyone know of reputable UK stockists? Thanks
  13. Mudman - How do you know yours actually has the reverse tilt mirror feature? This is a dilemma I am facing. The sparky that looked that mine told me I would need to establish from Nissan Japan whether my car is so equipped. People on here have said that if there is a small 'auto' button under the steering column, it has this feature as it is a cut-out button. The problem is that this might just be heresay unless anyone can prove otherwise ..
  14. Yes reversing lights work. I've looked at the fuse box and although there are many spaces, I don't believe there needs to be a fuse for this device to work
  15. There is a possibility that this should be on the JDM forum but I have posted here in case anyone without an import could shed any light. The odometer of my zed has a letter in a small square box next to the mileage. When I first purchased the car, it was showing 'B' and I measured distance over 60secs at 60mph and it read km's.. now it is showing 'A' (maybe adjusted during a service) and witht the same speed/time calculation, it gives a distance reading in miles. Can anyone confirm that toggling this changes the reading please?
  16. no longer interested due to no response
  17. Thanks for your replies. Correction! Mine actually idles at 1750-1800rpm on a cold start. Yes it is an auto. Can anyone advise me whether a tune-up would help? I've had an engine service recently but it was just a routine one
  18. Hi Folks, The FairladyZ is the first real car of any performance I have owned and despite its 3.5l engine, I am wondering whether it needs tuning as it sounds like a jumbo jet when starting from cold. Having said this, it does settle down after a minute or so but idles at about 1,500 revs. Can anyone clarify whether this is normal? (Had engine service recently). Thanks in advance
  19. Thanks boys. To answer your questions. Yes, I need the features. If they are on the car as genuine parts, naturally I want them working. Secondly, I have tried the auto button you describe for the mirrors. It does not work in all configurations. NB. The Corner Sensors are Corner Sensors but Parking Sensors if you prefer
  20. Hi people, I have spent many weeks now trying to diagnose the following faults with my JDM fairladyZ. 1. Reverse dipping mirrors do not operate 2. Corner sensors do not operate I recently had an experienced auto electrician look at the faults with no success. Regarding the mirrors, his advice was to first establish whether the ‘auto’ button underneath and to the right of the steering column is for the mirrors. (This has been suggested by other members) In regards to the corner sensors he said a wiring diagram is needed and cannot determine if there is power to the module. According to the set-up, he believes that these are original Nissan features. On the advice of Nissan UK, I contacted Nissan Japan but awaiting response. I am at the point now where I am getting tired of pouring in money to fault find these issues but resigning myself to paying Nissan dealer £75 diagnosis fee before they even fix anything. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions?
  21. I found these on flea bay: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a1be6adb4 The thing is, I don’t know how many LED's or how bright they are. Im looking for super bright DRL's which will shape into my headlight like this.. (but without the stooooopid red devil lights which I think look retarded). http://zledslights.c...053&id=35026696 Anyone know if this is a relatively easy mod? Unfortunately I’m not near Blackburn. Im in Northamptonshire.
