Fingers crossed, I always say to the salesman "look, I'm not here to go for a scenic drive round the block, if I'm going to buy a car I want to drive it how I would if I bought it".... 9 times out of 10 they are perfectly fine with this and 70% of the time I have returned and bought the vehicle, this guy just wasn't having none of it which was a shame as I probably would have bought it but then I saw the impreza on the way home and the rest is history. I'll report back once I've found one local. There are only a few Z's around my area and they turn heads of all ages which I find better than the local chavs staring at me when I get home from work

I test drove a Z last year but the guy that came with me from the garage was very 'please be gentle' I dont even recall getting out of third gear due to the limited time he wanted to be out so I dont think I got to fully experience it. I do agree, the turbo shunt is something of an addiction however where I live there are very few roads where you can hit silly speeds for long. I'm going to look at test driving one again and then get straight back in the WRX for a good comparison. Like you say, I can always go back if I cant bond with it

It is a good car don't get me wrong, it serves as a great work horse for my daily commute and the turbo is fun but there is something special about the 350, I have a kenwood double din sat nav in the scoob that I will be keeping ahold of. Will I get anything decent for my budget?? Also, with working offshore I have two medium sized bags that I have to keep in the car in case of a call out, will the Z boot be able to accommodate?

Hi all Joined the forum last year so not so much a new member but I am now in need of scratching the Z itch... I was going to buy a 350 last year but was side tracked by an Impreza WRX however I keep seeing 350's and am falling back in love with them.. Question is, my total funds will be around £6000 once the subaru is sold...what will this get me in the way of a nissan? I have a minor concern that I may have regrets moving from a turbo back to N/A, is owning a Z as fulfilling as I imagine it to be?

Finally ready to lose my Z-ginity!

Even still, i cant argue with that from a 3.5 V6... that must of been quite a jump!! The biggest decider for me is £650 insurance with 3 points (silly 36mph in a 30 :-( ) Thats a really good price. When I got my zed it cost me over £900 to insure, even though i had 20 years NCB gained driving high performance cars and motorbikes. I was totally amazed as I was quoted something like £450 for an M3 and £500 for a porsche boxster 3.2s and yet the insurance companies regarded the zed as a much higher risk for me. God knows why. Even a brand new Nissan GTR came in at about £400 on the insurance quotes! I'd love an M3 at £450 a year, it is very strange how insurance companies look at cars...I had three options in mind... > Nissan 350Z > BMW M3 (E46) > BMW 645i I looked at the M3 for insurance and got a minimum of £1900 absolutely no chance! So it was a toss up between the BMW and the Z as the 645 is only £100 more on insurance than the Z.... so a 4.4 V8 is cheaper than an M3 in the end I went with what I prefer and have always wanted to own plus.. I have read that if something goes wrong with the 645 you might as well just hand your credit card to the stealers -

The biggest decider for me is £650 insurance with 3 points (silly 36mph in a 30 :-( ) Depends what you're used to I guess. To get the best from the Type R you really need to rev the nuts off it & keep it in VTEC as you know I'll bet. Before the Type R I had a modified JDM Impreza WRX that was running 295bhp+ on a high boost map (SimTek ECU) so that was even quicker than the Type R but not as high revving. The Zed has much more torque than the Type R ever had and being RWD you do have to adjust your driving style. A much better car overall than the Type R though imo as it's more of a luxury sports car whereas the Type R is a hot hatch. I loved my type R, great car but yes you do have to wring its neck to make progress. Im not a fan of turbos tbh, i like naturally aspirated engines and the idea of a V6 makes me feel like a kid at christmas, i just need to save a little more to reach my budget...absolute torture!! -

brilliant cheers peteman, I didn't know whether it was something I have done...I've set it up for automatic subscribe so I guess just a bit of a slow server. Thanks again! -
Hi complete noob so might just be missing something but like the title says how do I set instant email notifications when I receive replies on threads, etc i.e. I've started a 'New Member' thread and I can't tell when someone has replied, normally on other forums I will receive an email with a link that takes me to the thread, is this available on 350z-uk? Cheers

As long as it isnt too tail happy like the S2000 then shouldnt be a big problem, I've found an '05 at the Norwich Car Centre which is only 21 miles from me so might pop along at the weekend and see what it is like behind the wheel. -

wow...thanks for the welcome guys, i would of replied earlier as I thought I had thread updates notified via email...can someone point me in the right direction to change the setting to allow this otherwise I'll never reply haha! Sorry to sound stupid but can someone define 'HR Engine'? If most of you guys can get 22-24mpg whilst having fun then I'm sold...more than I expected. I'm used to oil consumption from the Type R and MR2 so it has become a religious weekly check, it terms of general wear & tear what sort of damage could I expect from tyres, pads/discs? One other question...what is it like in the wet/snow? I would imagine being a RWD V6 it would be a completely different animal to what I've had previously Literally today been offered a new job offshore so the budget most probably will be stretched..however... I must obey the missus to some degree as we're also saving for a mortgage -
Hi all! I'm Mike and as the thread title states...I'm finally ready to take the plunge into Z ownership!! I've owned many, many cars even though I'm only 23...everything from a Golf MK4 GTI, Fiesta ST, Type R EP3, MR2 Roadster, BMW 320....you name it I've pretty much had it! I've always loved the 350Z and I'm now in a position financially where I can buy one and enjoy it. In no rush to buy, done that before and ended up with a rust bucket...my long list of cars has given me alot of experience with 'Greats' & 'Crates'. I now carry a paint thickness gauge, OBD diagnostics scanner and a keen set of eyes whenever I look at cars. Budget between £7500 & £8500 and hoping for an '05. Ideally would love a black 350z with blue coming close second however will settle with the more common silver/grey if in good condition. Willing to travel for the right car, done a 440 mile round trip to pick up my current MR2. Couple of questions, please be patient I'm still getting to know the forum.... > Is it worth paying the extra in tax for a newer model? > (regular question on all forums, I know)..I'm thinking around 23mpg average?, not a big issue just want to see the punch coming. > I'm hoping the 350 will live up to expectations and be fairly bulletproof as long as it is maintained? It will be my daily driver so would just like to know of anything major to look out for. Anyway, enough of my rambling! I Look forward to speaking to all you enthusiasts!! Cheers
