  1. I'm not sure about the Nismo exhaust vs the regular one but I have test pipes with and otherwise standard system and it doesn't sound that great, strange raspy rattles and sometimes just sounds broken. Could just be because mine is a few years old now.
  2. I just fitted test pipes....big mistake...just a note for those of a civilized disposition, short tails and test pipes are TOO LOUD! The test pipes were a pain in the butt to fit as well so as a temporary fix I'm going to put the standard back box on until I can get a full exhaust system to quieten it down (not something I thought I'd ever say haha). However I'll hopefully have a big update for y'all in a week or two
  3. Although I have just noticed this lightweight tax disc holder... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Richbrook-Tax-Disc-Holder-Lightweight-Aluminium-/261609313155?pt=UK_Car_Interior_Accessories&hash=item3ce9215383 for the OEM plus look
  4. I'm gonna try this mod tonight, my eye always catches that tax disc holder and I can't help but think its just needless weight. After removing the back box and soon the cats, it seems pointless not to do it as well.
  5. It's an overly simplified view of course, but as the worst of the depression hit in 2008, and the economy is recovering, the demand for this kind of car would hopefully increase.

    TPMS

I don't think we have TPMS because I have a late 2010 GT pack with connect premium and it did not alert me to my flat rear tyre, while our American cousins almost always have the light on because it is so sensitive to varying pressures.
  7. Haha I know that feeling. I've got short tails on and I park up against a wall, morning cold starts are deafening. I'm concerned that when I have fitted the de-cats it'll actually be....dare I say it.........too loud It is good when you're out at a meet though, and its time to leave, the note puts a lot of bigger cars to shame
  8. Probably also responsible for the ridiculously low used price of the 350z. Hopefully the low sales figures in this country will keep the 370z prices up. I live in Aberdeen and I see Caymens every day, I hardly ever see 370zs. The Nissan has no brand appeal (unless you've got a GTR) so people buy the Porsche. I think that has an effect on the price, helping to make the 370z the bargain that it is.
  9. Good build thread, different to most builds on here which are more focused on looks, but the pure performance based thing you're going for has worked really well!
  10. Posted it in 350z by accident my bad. You do get cruise control with normal uprev maps (where you get the 5 different ones) But the 1:1 throttle map isn't compatible with the cruise control unit, so you are then unable to use it. As far as I know with the 1:1 map you cannot switch between the 5 maps like the others but i don't know that for sure. Ok try this, it works every time for me this way.... in second gear at about 2k rpm, change into first with syncro-rev on but don't take the clutch out. So the revs should jump up (the syncro-rev we know and love) and you still have the clutch depressed. Now give it a rev. You should find you need to push the pedal further to get it to rev, small inputs do less than they normally would. And when it revs its faster than normal. I'll get a mate to film this with a comparison to normal revving.
  11. Looks awesome, for a very brief second I saw the thumbnail and thought you had fitted eyelashes to it!!! A perfect match for the Nismo colour scheme!
  12. I think the extended one is just the same size, its just it fits to the car without the GT spoiler being in place.
  13. I would be keen for that! The only problem I have is getting there....I only have one day holiday left before new year and I need that for Christmas, maybe I could pay in advance and drop my car off at the location the night before and pick it up the following evening, I have a lightweight flywheel but its not fitted yet, I take it that wouldn't make a difference anyway? I also bought the de-cats like you recommended, not fitted yet but will get them fitted beforehand.
  14. Hi all, local yob here, I have noticed something interesting (read: pretty awesome) that seems to be a result of the syncro-rev. So I'm sure you've all revved your car (those with exhausts anyway) and been slightly disappointed that it takes so long for the revs to come down (no? just me?) as Ferraris have that awesome throttle blip roar that dies away instantly and sounds awesome. Anyway I always thought this was just down to the massive heavy flywheel Nisaan fitted to the car for NVH reasons. HOWEVER If you are drive in first gear, until the revs are maybe just over 2k rpm, then dip the clutch and rev the engine (don't ask how I discovered this) the revs die away very very quickly and it sounds AMAZING! With my exhaust the burble sounds mean. So it seems that the syncro-rev is cutting the throttle totally to bring the revs down as quickly as possible back to the 2k rpm they should be.....which means that the ECU is softening the fall down of the revs when the engine is free revving. This actually makes sense, because we all know V6's aren't the smoothest engines, and having the engine rev up and down really quickly would cause the car to rock (already does a little bit) so it doesn't seem unreasonable for Nissan to implement this. Now the question is.... how to remove this, does an UpRev fix this? I remember Mark at Abbey mentioning that there is a map that allows 1:1 throttle positioning, presumably that would do the trick, anyone have this and can comment? The 1:1 map wouldn't be ideal due to the cruise control no longer functioning but I have a lightweight flywheel ready to fit and I'm that much of a sucker for throttle response (yob) I might be willing to do it. Have fun testing this out Cheers, Dan
  15. A better option would just be a pair of eBay decat pipes. Then if you want rid of the last remaining silencers just have a local exhaust place weld in pipe, shouldn't cost you too much.
  16. What's the volume like on these, its hard to get a judge from YouTube. I have AAM short tails at the moment and they are a little too loud but I don't want to go too quiet
  17. With sikaflex, clamps and LOTS of pressure. Haha, no I don't mind! It is a great combo (although I would say that) The best bit about the Evo-R lip is that it doesn't affect clearance, so if/when I go coilovers I won't be worried about trashing it...might need to remove the GT chin though. Just don't copy my wheels tho
  18. Little update, my diffuser from Tarmac has arrived Looks like I need to lower my exhaust a little to get it to it perfectly. Hopefully it won't be a huge deal but the bolt I need to take offr to space out looks pretty corroded :/
  19. As above, saw the front of is as I was coming down Rosemount place and realised it was lowered, then drove past and noticed the Vossens, very nice!!!
  20. No secret, its just a really nice wheel, I'm hoping it will look a lot better than this photoshop: Here on an audi
