  1. Thanks for the comments gents... Not as popcorn inspiring as some of the builds on here, but it's a start.
  2. So this is by no means a major build thread.. just some minor fettling (famous last words). Pics show the car as I got it and some progression along the way. I have had the car a couple of months now and so far have completed the following and a few more bits in the pipeline. 2005 GT4. Completed: - good ol snow foam and de-stickering and general clean up - number plates straightened! - front drop links - service - DAB front discs and Hawk pads - Tein lowering springs - Spacers 20/25 - 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric2's - Wheel refurb in lightest shade of black chrome - Full hunter alignment - Mishimoto fans & shroud - Boot springs sorted - Headlamp correction To do: (in order of priority) - Stubby 4" - Gear knob - Drop in Apexi air filter - Exhaust & decats (Invidia Gemini + 60mm decat pipes, hoping this will be loud enough? just missed a Nismo one on here! boo!) - Plugs - Drivebelts - Z badges - Brake fluid upgrade - Braided lines (Hosetechnik) - new plates, clean simple - clear rear fog - Ding removal - Scratch correction & Gtech finish - replace OEM head unit (open to suggestion, must be clean and tidy fitment, no knobs etc..) - MREV2 plenum & spacer - manifold (DC?) - better clutch & flywheel? - throttle controller (apexi not available anymore..?) - remap - Blitz 60095 FRP rear spoiler (maybe) The car when I first got her, getting the clean up: After the initial bits on the list: (drop links, DAB front discs/Hawk pads, Tein springs, Spacers 20/25, 4 x GY Eagle F1 assymetric2's, Wheel refurb in lightest shade of black chrome, Full hunter alignment, Mishimoto fans & shroud, Boot springs sorted, Headlamp correction) Until the next installment...
  3. Just had a thought.. Looking at Invidia Gemini system with 60mm invidia decat pipes. Is this likely to throw a CEL even with the O2 fix on the pipes...??? http://www.clarkmotorsport.co.uk/parts/De-Cat-Pipes/60mm/HS02N3ZTP2 http://www.clarkmotorsport.co.uk/parts/Gemini-Rolled-Stainless-Steel-Tips-Cat-Back/HS02N3ZGIS
  4. Invidia Gemini & decat pipes... (350z) That wasn't on the list was it... I'll get my coat..
  5. Cheers Paddy, this is very helpful to work out costs.. Do you have certain suppliers state side that you have used in the past and liked the products/service..?
  6. I'm a seriously fussy bugger! Don't like the RDX stubby, seen them in the flesh now.. 7" is too big, definitely after 4". Other 4" options available here like Perrin shorty for example have a wide base angled to a thinner top part which looks a little odd, the password JDM is the only 4" I've found which is a gradual shape from the base, unbranded, clean. (Told you I was fussy!)
  7. Well I'm just about to cancel an order from https://conceptzperformance.com/ As I processed an order for the stubby went through the checkout etc, shipping detail etc and then only upon email detail of the order did they detail $30 shipping.. which would be $44.99 which I then I guess is subject to import tax..? This seems to me to start making this stubby a bit pricey..! I believe there are some parts suppliers who are used to shipping that calculate the whole lot for you, part, shipping, tax and the price is the final price you pay.. I've yet to find them yet though..

  9. Can any traders on here source Password JDM products..?
  10. Speak to some of your local specialists, decats is not an issue for people that understand your addiction..
  11. What are peoples thoughts, pro's and cons for a longlife custom exhaust system... At first glance i'm slightly dubious based on the examples they have on their site, but they will cover all the details I want and have quoted 650-750 for a true dual system including decats. The only two systems (budget taken into account) that I've seen are the Invidia Gemini or a 2nd hand Nismo system. I'm after the OEM style rolled tips, longer like the Nismo, just so it looks neater from the side. I want a deep quality tone but with a decent amount of noise. I will be having decat pipes too. The advantages of a custom system is that I can have the tail pipes however I want them. I can detail the kind of volume i'm after. They will have the car back in to change things if you are not entirely happy. My concerns are, quality of components used. The tone their box will give, don't want a tinny raspy system.. Items like using a nice slider joint over a flexi like on the Invidia etc etc.. Thoughts..
  12. Not after you've been jumping up and down on it Bradders! I have to admit it sounded good at the Ace, but I think the Invidia with decats will sound even better!
  13. So went to the Ace cafe meet but unfortunately no-one had a Invidia Gemini system for me to look at and have a listen.. Think this is the only system that ticks my boxes currently as per original post. If anyone near Watford Herts has this system and wouldn't mind me coming to see them, give me a heads up.. And secondly I have seen a lot of people interested in this system recently, give me a shout if that is you and perhaps we can speak to one of the suppliers to sort out some kind of group buy.. i'll be looking at the Invidia Gemini system with rolled tips + Invidia 60mm decat pipes.
  14. So I noticed the other that my mirrors are in different positions, drivers side folds out further than passengers side. Now I've noticed it, it's gonna bug me as they look different when looking at the front or rear of the car.. Anyone know how to best sort.. I assume if I just muscle it into a different position I could knacker the gears on the motor..?
  15. Wheels in motion in Chesham suggested I went in today anyway as I had the drop links done too on new tyres and have suggested I bop back in a month for a recheck free of charge.. good on em..!
  16. Just a thought but should I let the Tein springs settle in before getting a full geo set up do you think..?
  17. Wheels in motion in Chesham are another bunch that I'd recommend. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk
  18. So recently replaced my fans after them being caput.. decided to go for the Mishimoto rather than refurbing old motors on the basis the Mishimoto ones are lighter and supposedly more efficient, look quite good too. Can someone just confirm for me that the OEM is a two phase fan, only running at full pelt when temp requires. However in the nature of how Mishimoto ask you to wire the replacements in, they only run full pelt, nothing in-between...?
  19. Thanks to Ewen for my DBA discs, hawk pads and Mishimoto fans. Top service, reachable on the phone, good advice, no hesitation to use again and probably will be very soon Good effort Clark Motorsport.
  20. Does anyone know if these are the joints Invidia have now started to use over the flexi joints..?
  21. The only clamps on the Invidia are for the rear tail pipes ~ this is a good thing as it allows you to get the tips positioned correctly with your rear bumper and also if you fancy a change of tip it's an easy swap or if your originals get damaged again easy swap. Also the Invidia exhaust system has no flexi joints unlike that DC system. Hate flexi joints so much as they are so prone to damage & are a definite weak point on any exhaust system. After researching a lot before getting my exhaust system I decided the best one for me was the Invidia Gemini exhaust system with Berks HFC's from Tarmac Sportz. Sounds great, looks ace, excellent quality & no drone. Does the Invidia not have flexi joints towards cat end..?
  22. Liking this thread.. I have no. 164 and this is mildly justifying exactly the same. I'll post up some bits up soon..
