I'm new the whole 350z/370z and when I hear something that doesn't make sense, il ask the question. The ecu doesn't dial out any gains seen once it's had chance to learn the extra air going in and out of the cylinders. Ecu see's more air, resulting in a lean burn so adds extra fuel to maintain ideal normal driving afr. Using super unleaded fuel which arguably is better than when the car was launched for the UK market back in 2003, all helps with high rpm ignition timing and boom gains in power. If with bolt ons the ecu manages to control the afr in a way it see's fit, most gains from the remap for n/a vehicles generally come from advancing the ignition timing. That's my 2p anyways. What's the standard base ignition timing for the early DE's? David

Both, you'd hope that a reputable outfit would have fairly accurate figures. However dyno hoping isn't great as there's too many variables. Any figures from a solo dyno visit is to be treated as a guide and if you as a customer feel that the figure is close to accurate (as Steve does) then you kinda have to take his word for it. Ie local knowledge of other cars whereby collectively results seems fair. Not always possible but it's advised to stick to one place to try and gauge gains throughout the modding venture. That's why rolling road meets can be useful, as both modded and standard cars do their runs. If a well maintained standard car puts out standard power, then the results from that day foul play aside are about the best your going to get in terms off accurate brake, hub or single drum inertia dynos.

Comparing figures from two different rolling roads isn't a straight comparison, too many variables.

just dont believe a standard DE on the same dyno would make anywhere near whats shown on the OP...... furthermore ive never seen/read it happen either and Steve's has so...... yet to see any evidence of bolt on gains being dialled back to stock bhp/lb-ft once the ecu has had chance to settle down ie the same way that OP has had time too between the point of bolt ons and the dyno run.

you're hypothesizing and creating random bhp figures and expect a straight answer to a random through away figure...... i believe next month at the same dyno Steve's car will again make the same figure all things being equal, ie dyno setup, air temp, wheel alignment, no brake drag, wheels, tyres and tyre temperatures all the same of which have an effect on whp. YES Steve's car would make the same fugires in a months time. answer based on actual figures, not guess work. David

Here should be OK long as Steve don't mind....... Point 1 - No, tuning isn't mods by numbers every engine response differently to bolt ons. No gains, not event standard cars maintain its power forever so why would one with bolt ons..... an uprev doesn't mean you'll maintain gains forever either as natural engine wear and tear will always occur regardless. Point 2 - I've yet to see any evidence to confirm your thinking. My question is simple, on a reputable rolling road has any 350z DE with bolt ons ever produced more than 276bhp? *mods fitted weeks before dyno visit. David

My previous related posts have today again been confirmed to be correct.....Furthermore I have never seen a standard DE put down 290bhp+ on ANY rolling road.

That's the stooopidest thing I've ever heard. The plenum spacer allows the engine to breath better, the same as an enclosed intake, HFC or an exhaust system. A free flowing exhaust allows for more fresh air into the cylinders too, ie intake and exhaust both complement each other so to say the above statement is ridiculous. The ecu does not dial back gains shown from bolt on mods, all the ecu is trying to do is maintain the factory mapped AFR which is fine. For example high rpm 13.5 AFR with standard intake and exhaust denotes standard power all things being equal. The same AFR with bolt ons creates more power. tuner maps a standard 350z and logs the figures. Uploads the same map to a full bolt on zed, which would make more power? David

Very much doubt this particular rolling road is wrong by circa 20bhp, he wouldn't be in business for long if he's so far out on figures surely. 290bhp+ from breather mods on a DE is common place anyways tbf, on different dyno up and down the country. With a remap, peak power from what I gather generally see's gains of 10-15bhp on a healthy engine. Love this car David
