Another little job being tackled in the Zed. A job I had been putting off for months as I've never dealt with carbon repairs. Had a fair amount of clear coat peeling on my driver's side door mirror covers. Caps are 4 yrs old so these things are to be expected I guess. Process as follows *pic heavy!! Process was warm up the mirror to help release the adhesive. Clean and degrease the mirror cap Wet sand the flaking clear coat, 400 then 800. IPA wipe to assess Roll edge masking tape applied Time to clear coat, found some e-tech wheel lacquer which should be up to the job. 4 dust coats applied with 10mins between Initial couple of dust layers Few more allowing for intervals 2 wet coats applied with 15mins between Left to dry for overnight indoors Masking tape removed Wet sand with 1500 then 2500 IPA wipe over and now to see if we can bring this kid back. Wasn't sure if I was attempting to blend a traditional clear coat or a gel coat, but here goes. Menzerna super finish with polish pad, 2 passes, then SF with waffle finishing pad again 2 passes. 1st pass 2nd pass 1st finishing pad pass 2nd finishing pad pass Chose to then do the final finish on the car as the rig kept moving about. Overall very happy with the outcome for a few hours work and using materials already to hand.

A very good watch if not seen already Lewis - recent UHP tyre test

I did the same, the smoke out the back I initially thought it was coming from the tailpipes and thought the worst. Turned out I hadn't put the dipstick back in fully, argh. The mess it made down the one side of the engine and under tray was substantial.

Time very well spent, very nice car. Love AF tripple

I find I'm able to eye ball the level better on the back of the dipstick oddly.

That's about right to be fair

You can better the Michelins for steering feel and outright dry grip however, or wet weather performance.

^ same, who wants ugly sidewalls..... I use to love the old Yokohama Parada Spec 2 as the sidewall design was minimal and took to tyre dressing fantastic. Had about 3 sets in different sizes over the years. I personally hate a busy sidewall design, all in the detail.

First time to tried I had to pull the lot off, second attempt applied it wet which was what's needed. Then heat applied to the edges. The bubbles I had then in the heat of the sun came out and any larger bubbles, I made a pin hole in the wrap and fingered the moisture out

They're GREAT, steering felt so much lighter and direct honestly even before coming off the drive. Loads of steering feel and sportiness on the road, really want to put my 19's back on but abit pointless just to sit pretty on the drive collecting dew dust Any of the top 3 UHP tyres, id say you'd be chuffed with - all down to price & looks.

My scrubbing video, please excuse the monotone Brummie

I noticed!! Looking into the details the 6's are a fair way beyond the 5P's as they should be. https://www.evo.co.uk/features/16838/continental-sportcontact-6-review-the-tyre-of-choice-for-your-sports-car Memories of a soft sidewalled 5P were quickly forgotten as the 6s flaunted better high-speed stability, most evident through a fast right-left turn that danced the car over a crest on the edge of grip. Hard braking with a small amount of lock on also revealed that the sidewalls were less inclined to fold, making it much easier to attack each braking point and trail the brakes towards the apex with consistency.

In OE sizes you'd save £140 choosing the Continental SportContact 6 over the MPS4S on Oponeo, still an excellent set of rubbers which is what I went for when replenishing my 19's last year. https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2019-Tyre-Reviews-UHP-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm

Starting to take shape!!! Looks unreal already!!! Can't wait for the wheels to drop

Ok that makes sense, the wrap has another top film that you peel of after application. This film gets scratches during application which is finally removed, without doing do it will look cloudy.

Love that new avatar pal!! Yeah, reads well that stuff as it incorporates PTFE polymers used in their flagship sealant. Wanted try it out last night instead of the paste sealant, but with the wind picking up stopped that bright idea.
