Capri 2.8i was much worse than the Zed but the Fiat X1/9 was downright dangerous. You'd think that with only 80 or 90 horses and plenty of weight at the rear it'd be fairly tame but I once spun leaving work and had another 3 half spins on the way home . Zed ain't great in the snow though especially if there's more than a couple of inches on the ground. Pete I had a couple of XR4i's and they were probably as bad, if not worse than my Capri. But then since I had a long commute I bought an XR4x4 (2.8V6) and had more problems with that - I think the idea that it had 4WD made me over confident. The good old days ...

Step Children and relationship break ups....
Ponsonby replied to nowhereboy's topic in Off Topic Discussion
He can't. This woman has bounced him around like a basketball, having him dangling on a piece of string. Will she, won't she? He needs a clean break so he can gather himself together. She's been irresponsible and selfish as far as her child is concerned by having him in and out of the kids life. Any blame for what effects it's had in the child can be heaped on her. The O/P has brought the child up as his own and probably loves the child as his own - in which case why sever that relationship? No point hurting the innocent party (child) if a) you dont want to or you dont need to. The outcome depends on the relationship with mother / child and also the OP's own mental state. If he cannot handle it then fair enough, no criticism from me. However, I get the impression that the OP wants to maintain a relationship with the child so am just offering an alternative point of view to the 'run away and try to sleep with as many women as possible' scenario. I have a child with an ex wife, split when child was around 6. My new wife had a 4 year old when I met her who I have brought up as my own so have seen both sides of the coin. On a side note TT, I was very bitter when I split with first wife and had a serious mistrust of women. I took councelling because I felt it was the only way I could have a good relationship again. Can really recommend it if you are still struggling - gets rid of the demons. -
My 370Z 7AT has 'snow mode' so I now use it in snow instead of my 4x4

Step Children and relationship break ups....

Depending on your mental strength, there is no reason why not to have contact with the child if your ex is happy with that. Just because you are not the man for her does not necessarily mean that she does does not value you as a father figure or good influence on the child. Just don't keep the contact with the child in the hope that you will get back together - treat it as an entirely different relationship. You could still do fun things with the child, football, car meets or whatever activities you used to enjoy together - in fact it will probably be more fun because you will be forced to think of more new and fun things to do. Just collect the child and go out, do not sit aound in your ex's house. Be aware that your involvement with the child may become less with time particularly if a new man comes along. However, by this time you will have adjusted to things, may have a new person in your life, and can console yourself knowing that you did your best for the young one. Good luck. -
So they will go to massive expense to dig a tunnel. You will then drive through with your loud exhaust at such a resonant frequency that it vibrates the stones above and they just shatter.....

Same problem here. Been with Admiral for years on a Multicar paying a nice low price for both my cars. The quote I had for both on renewal a couple of weeks ago was nearly £800. Shopped around quite a lot and eventually got it down to less than £500 for both which is still significantly more than before. Not sure of groupings but do have a gut feeling that my 370 is higher insurance than my 350 was.
-
I went for the best of both - a Z and an SUV Can't fit the kids, dog, camping stuff etc, in the Z. And my SUV does 40mpg pottering around and 55+ on a run. If you had taked the OH into a cheaper SUV then you could have kept the Z as well. I do like the Discovery Sport and was tempted myself but to just have one of those and no Z - nah!

Would love to meet Milla but I would probably be incapable of sensible speech. Beautiful lady who just seems to get better with age. Richard Branson Rowan Atkinson Brian Johnson (AC-DC) Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)

All the ladies I know love a spa hotel. Perhaps pay for each with a +1 for an overnight stay and evening meal and a treatment voucher. They can choose their own treatment, pay extra if they want more etc. They will most likely have free use of gym, sauna, hot tub, pool etc. With a +1 they can take a friend or their partner. They will remember it far longer than they will a few extra quid in their pocket.

Yesterday was known as Blue Monday and for someone who is over protective of my cars, worked out to be that way for me. Took my 370 in for MOT. Always take it to a local performance / modified car specialist because they are extra careful with the cars and the other people who park there are of a similar mindset and park carefully too. As I am sat waiting, my car is still parked when someone parks next to mine and swings their door open hitting my car. I rush out, call her a 'dozy cow' and inspect for damage. Her husband who had arrived to pick her up comes storming over but immediately backed off when I gave him the death stare. Fortunately no damage was done to my car and hopefully by my reaction the lady will 'respect' others property in future. Got home and decided to check my wifes car online to see when her MOT is due. MOT fine but tax out of date by 2 months! No problem, we will sort online but where is her V5? Everything, she says, is in her car folder she is not stupid and keeps everything together. Driving license turns up in her handbag, service history in side pocket of car, MOT in boot of car and everything in the well kept folder is 3 years out of date!! No V5. She has had the car around 14 months, phone DVLA and address was wrong when registered by dealer so V5 was returned. So we cannot tax it for a few days till all sorted out. No way is she driving the 370, would rather cut my left testicle off, so reluctantly agreed to let her use my 4x4 (12 months old, pristine). Convinced myself that all would be OK, feeling fairly relaxed. Got home from a meeting to find my 4x4 parked in the middle of the cul de sac looking like it had been abondoned there. Rushed into the house to see if there was a problem but wife was making a brew. When asked why she abondoned my car in the middle of the road she didn't, she parked it at the top of the drive. There is a reason why cars have a handbrake! Scary thing is that I often park the 370 across the drive behind the other 2 cars - what a lovely job the towbar would have made along with an interesting claim to insurers for both my cars together. Its going to be a long few days ......

I must be a freak as well. Back in Gym yesterday thinking that I would have lost strength but 'easily' lifted more than usual and no aches or pains today. Usually try to train 3 to 4 times a week, normal diet and no 'extras'. Not really trying to bodybuild as such, I can't eat enough, just trying to maintain a reasonable body shape and weight as I get older (mid 50's).

I am not aware that any have a heated front windscreen??? There is a button for front screen next to the button for rear screen demist but this just puts heater blower to full, aircon on and directs all air flow to screen

A few months ago my daughter just quit her job in London and moved home. I was not impressed because I have always believed that you should line up another job before you quit the one you have. Two weeks later and she had found another job in Birmingham and sorted her rented accomodation. Her new job pays the same as the London one, she is not spending a fortune on commuting, her rent is significantly lower and she loves her job. The move paid off.

I can see what is going on here. Convince your daughter that your 350 is better so she will swap and you can upgrade to a 370 - tsk!!

I am 53. Last year when I had a 350 and when getting quotes for car with modified exhaust there was little difference in the premium. Now have a 370, looking again at quotes if I modify the exhaust and also looking at approx. £130 hike in price.
-
Or thinking of just modifying standard exhaust for more sound??

If the lights are 12V and running from a transformer the wire will be very thin. It will probably pass through the seal of a door or window, I would pick one that is not going to be used since opening and closing will probably break the wire after a while - if it does break then no drama's, it is only 12V. The transformers are usually cheap and nasty and not suitable to be located outside. Don't go bodging your outside light, not worth the risk.

From Rx8 to 350z soon hopefully
Ponsonby replied to LukeA's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Try to get an HR 350 if you can afford it - interior is much better than earlier models and more on a par with the RX8 interior. I have had a couple of RX8's, a 350HR and now 370. Had always vowed that I would never buy a new car - until the RX8 was launched. We were out visiting friends, popped into a Mazda dealership just for a look and came out having left a deposit. -
Fortunately, the government is still able to afford cuts to corporation tax, to help those who "need it most". Corporation Tax is a tax on profits, not a tax on money leaving a company and going into someone's pocket. Reducing CT means that more money can be retained in a Company and used for growth - or just for keeping a company going while times are tough. Some of us set up our own companies, worked 80 to 100 hours per week for several years, put our houses on the line to finance it. You will not hear any objections from me to paying tax on my income but CT has always been frustrating. I hear so much on the news deriding company owners but the majority of us play fair and pay sensible salaries. For those that are lucky enough to have enough left over to pay themselves a good salary, why not, they probably put the hours in and took the risks - risks that not many others would dare to take. We have been royally stuffed by Brexit and had we not been paying much CT over the last few years would have been in a much better financial position to ride it out. It's only a couple of years since I paid more Corporation Tax than Facebook. Weirdly I wasn't able to also pay the same £35m in bonuses during that period. Maybe my "profits" were lower than those of the internet monolith? Maybe I wasn't working enough hours growing my own business? It is where the tax is paid that is important. Had the £35M in bonus been paid in the UK then tax would have been paid on it. However, in the case of these 'giants' they move the money out of the UK and will (should) pay tax on it wherever the bonus is paid. So they make the money in the UK and pay tax to some other government which is clearly not right. They also avoid paying CT whatever level it is set at. Do you set a CT rate to 'try' to extract more from the tax avoiding 'giants' or do you set a CT rate that helps honest large businesses and small businesses.

I am 5'11 and 14st and have no problems. There does not appear to be much padding between the seat leather and the bar and suspect that this could soon become squashed or worn away, particularly if you sit on it while entering the car. I have a technique where I put a hand on the sill plate and swivel over the side bolster because I soon realised that it could become damaged. Did not have to do this with the 350Z, seats are contoured differently. I would suggest going to see a seat trimmer. They can replace damaged padding, may be able to add more and can use something more dense if necessary. A relatively inexpensive fix.

I agree, looked and sounded fantastic. Went straight on the internet looking at 240Z's for sale. Ouch, expensive.

As the title says. More 4 at 9pm.

I think that the US will be just fine - most of Trump's business assets are in the US. What is more scary is the fact that he may have the power to make or break other countries. He will be the most powerful president in living memory having both the presidency and both houses. Scotland has had it for building wind turbines overlooking his golf course and we have had it for petitioning to ban him from the UK.
