  1. I know... Would resetting the ECU be worth a try or could that just kick up more trouble
  2. Please reread what I said about the gauge being useless. I mean it, it's crap. Stick a meter across the battery, if nothing else it will rule it out if the battery is fine. Don't have any way of checking the battery at the moment, don't have the tools with me. Have had no issues with starting it up in the morning or any battery related indications so think the battery is fine
  3. I have the torque pro app and bluetooth connector, so could i check the ECU with that diagnostics? the voltage is up at around 7/8 full from the gauge so couldnt imagine it would be that far off!
  4. Started it up, and the ESP light stayed on, along with the other yellow light that looks like a car skidding across a road Then 1 minute in to driving... the handbrake light pops on, and has stayed there for the 10 minute drive. What do all of these mean!? I looked at a few other threads... some mentioned brake fluid levels... mine are slap bang in the middle between min and max. Had a P3 service done by H dev 2 weeks ago. They mentioned 2 things relating to the brakes : the inner brake nipples are seized, and my pads are at 27.9mm, when they should be 28.4mm Don't know if that is of any help in diagnosing it.... but seems to be an awful lot of warning lights just to randomly pop up to warn you that your brake pads may be a bit under the limit.....
  5. Have found a company that do basically the same head uni for £250... all parts for £60, and fitting for £70, PLUS the guy drives to you to do it! So that is quite handy! Am glad i posted this on here, saved myself the best part of £200 If it weren't for the fact H-dev quoted me £950 to carry out drop links, compression arm bushings and brake repairs.... I'd be over the moon right now! May have to put this new head unit on hold for a month or 2 as this repair quote is an unexpectedly big hit in my already stretched 350z expenditure! I SHALL GET RID OF THIS DAMN CASSETTE ADAPTOR SOON THOUGH! One way or another I will find the money to get this old fashioned head unit replaced! Anyone know if there is any demand/value in 2nd hand original 350z bose head units?
  6. Where did you get this done? I must be looking at the wrong places.... have been to 2 different audio specialists now and they seem to be wanting either high rates for fitting, or selling extremely expensive equipment and offering a reasonable install price!
  7. No worries mate! If you suddenly move house down south in the next couple of weeks let me know!
  8. Who fitted your unit? Would ideally just like to find someone who i can just pay reasonably to fit the parts i supply!
  9. I'm in the Berkshire/Surrey area, am happy to drive about there if there is anyone with good know how out there ! Seems like quite a split opinion on whether it is worth it or not! Could get a good head unit and parts for £300 all in if i fitted it myself, so the £150 labour does also come with an extra £125 in costs effectively! Do agree that 3 hours seems like a long estimate for car audio specialists to fit a head unit!
  10. Mmm, well had £250-300 in mind for the head unit. Saw a nice sony one in another store for 250. The main thing is the 150 in labour.... is it a difficult job for a electrical novice, and someone with little know how... and is it difficult to get it all looking neat and tidy after fitting? Asked them about me sourcing stuff and them fitting but then they charge 75 per hour if you do that and it wouldnt be capped at 150 so if it took 4 hours would be 300 in labour
  11. Hi, Went to john kleis today as im looking to get a new head unit fitted into my 03 350z gt. The price breakdown is : £349 for the pioneer X2600BT head unit £75 for parts, inc fascia, cables etc £150 for estimated 3 hours labour They say it takes 3 hours as it is obviously difficult to fit the unit, etc and then to get it looking flush and right it also requires an extra hour or so to make it all look good from the front. Do those prices sound reasonable? Was hoping i could get it done for more like £400.
  12. Jesus, thats bad! Deepest condolences... whoever did that deserves to have that done to their face to see how they like it. Am surprised nobody would have seen/heard that happening as it looks like it wouldnt have been a quiet encounter!
  13. Had this happen this morning for the first time and am glad to see someone else has had the same problem! the windows on these 350s are a ****ing pain all around! Guess they're not exactly designed as winter cars Will wake up 10 mins earlier for work tomorrow with a bucket of warm water at hand!
  14. .... this is the first car ive had that has this much "joy".... £350 service & fix up the other day.... with other issues with banana arm bushings and brake pads identified and still to do! Just thought I'd post though for anyone with similar problems that i did the process in the YT video and it has indeed fixed the subwoofer issue.... and it only takes about 10 minutes with the right tools! Simple but effective!
  15. Having put 2 litres in yesterday, i left it parked flat at work all day for 8 hours, and got a clear reading. the 2l i put in it took it up to 1/4 above the low mark. I topped it up with 0.5 litres and am getting it serviced tomorrow. I noticed 8 specs of oil though on the floor when i was pulling out... these were small drops all scattered in different places that either seemed just infront of where i parked, or at the front of the car where it was parked I am unsure whether this was dripped residue from the dipstick that had blown onto the floor... or whether it was coming from the engine. I am hoping it was drops from the stick but have a feeling it could be from the car. I have parked it up now on a flat surface and put a large piece of cardboard underneath it, which i plan to check for marks in the morning. Would it be best to run the car for a bit to expedite any oil drips? or will that not work, and shall i just leave it for a while. This whole thing has been such a nightmare, and Keyser.... I really hate you right now.... you've just added massive worry to an already terrible day! To my relief though the engine doesn't sound like this so phew in that sense
  16. Yeah, understand why there's been quite an uproar if a lot of people have had engine problems due to oil recently! Guess when i get it serviced I'll have a better idea of whether there is any damage done, will mention this and have it checked out, but seems to be running fine for now, and think it was just the incline and the freezing weather that really starved it this morning (considering how little there was), lucky it happened really on a momentary conditional basis earlier on alerting me to it rather than later down the line when i found out from my engine clunking out on the road!
  17. Let it cool down and have periodically added more oil. Have now added 2 litres, and the dipstick appears to show its now a quarter of the way up from low.... so it must have been really low to start with this morning. Need to use the car this evening and all week for work otherwise i would have just grounded it and considered calling someone out. Am going to get a full p3 service next weekend anyway and have all the oils changed then, but feel confident it should be fine for the week. This has taught me the importance of checking oil levels regularly in these cars....
  18. I did not base my choice solely on the (spot free may i add) guy at halfords, but also what i could see, being that it looked below the L mark. If i did have 1 litre of oil in there... and am now up to 1.75 litres... then that's better than I've had for the past 750 miles or so that I've been driving it (based on 1L per 1000miles) and ive only had it for 800 miles, so THAT was my reasoning for deciding to do that, and drive the short 5 mile trip home, knowing that i will have the most oil in my engine since i've been driving the thing, so the odds are those last 5 miles won't have done any extra damage oil-wise as i think the previous 750 will have been the worst for it. So that i could then let my car sit and cool down, whilst i sit and warm up! In terms of me being able to easily drain and replace the oil in the time this thread has existed... You've seen the chaos that has been kicked up in this thread just surrounding me topping up the oil.... a thread about me draining the oil alone would span 10 pages of questions! I'm rubbish with all this stuff! Thanks for your advice however and im sorry if i came across as quite short in some of my replies, i do appreciate your view, has just ben a stressful morning! Thanks, that will be helpful later on! Hopefully if i can get a clear view of how much oil is in it if the dipstick isn't too much of a bitch, then I'll be able to gauge how much more needs to be put in based on that!
  19. R35lee. Got 5l for £24.... would have cost the same for 2l! Ekona..... i have a pretty good idea as to what is in it as being @*!# all..... i have concluded this because of what i have seen vaguely on the dipstick, confirmed by the halfords guy, as well as the low pressure and fact the oil light was on. I chose 0.75l as it is not a large amount..... but if my oil was low enough to trigger a light should give me enough for the 5 mile trip home where i can sit in the warm and wait for the engine to properly cool down before checking the levels and finding out for sure where we are at. I highly doubt that 0.75l is going to do any harm considering the symptoms If i can get a clear reading of where the oil levels lie in 4 hours time, ill top it up. Otherwise ill look into draining and refilling.... either way i have a 1.5 hour drive ahead of me tonight as i need to get back to where i work
  20. Fully synthetic mobil super 3000 formula fe. The halfords guy said it did look pretty low but again seems unsure with these dipsticks... have put 0.75litres in and am gonna drive 5 miles home and let it sit for a few hours so i can get a better reading
  21. If the damage was already done then i would have bee ****ed no matter what. I drove it to halfords with everything running fine in terms of pressure and no oil light. So any damage sustained would have been accrued over the past week, and the morning when i drove it when the light flashed up for 2 seconds. And am going to use 5/30 synthetic oil in it, as that seems to be what is recommended from what ive eead

  23. Did 5 checks.... after sitting for an hour... is difficult to tell, but from the looks of it it there was no thick oil even within the low limit... but have got it to halfords now and am waiting here for 30 mins to let it sit and have one of them check out the oil level themselves! Didnt realize these cars could get through a litre of oil every 1000miles.... have done 800 in it since i bought it under a month ago! Hopefully ive caught this early before it developed into a big problem
  24. Did 2 readings and the results seemed difficult to read. I will leave it 30 mins, read up on the oil checking techniques then do multiple readings to ensure i absolutely know where it is at.... the stick had so much oil all over it it was difficult to determine where the line was but a couple of wipes and redips/rotations should help from what ive seen
