looking at used for now.... want to keep the costs down. Please PM with what you have
-
Have decided to keep the 350z for a little while and fix the few things that are getting to me. So with that in mind, I am looking for:- * decent exhaust - no drone, not too noisy (track day limits) * coilovers - entry level stuff, adjustable, decent brand * wheels - 18" with tyres (good quality and condition), not rays, ideally something that sits flush to the body, without spacers Thanks

best place to rent a GT86 / MX-5 / S2000 / Cooper S?
grahamc replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Other Cars
True, I know audi offered my missus the TT for a weekend test drive -
thanks all I like the current look.... the big spoiler, will be detachable so will only be put on for track days and events

More pics... luckily had a little sun yesterday

Have decided to sell the 350z... missus would like another mini (ideally a cooper S) or Honda Integra. The car is:- -2002 Fairlady model imported from Japan (cheap tax ) -black cloth interior -around 65000 miles -momo steering wheel -Alpine touch screen headunit -I think we are the 3rd UK owner and the car was imported around 2005/2006 -MOTd (last done in June) -TAXd (but this no longer matters) We bought the car late last year (around October 2013) and immediately sent it off to be fully detailed and for the engine bay to be cleaned. Abbey Motorsport then did a service and fixed a load of little issues all of which is detailed on their receipt. They have also dynod the car and fueling and power is spot on, will get a pic of the dyno graph. Kaizer Motors has recently (mid January 2014) done the wheel alignment, balacing and sorted out a bad rattle in the door (missing screws). The negatives:- -The previous owner did the servicing himself, some receipts, but no real service history. I recently had to have the dash clocks changed as the speedo was under reading MPH. This has been documented by Abbey Motorsport who did the change (previous clocks mileage and starting mileage of the new clocks is all documented on their receipt). Price:- £5500 ovno - I am in no rush to sell so will not be accepting silly low offers. Will consider PX, but not on over-valued cars.... Im based near Redhill in Surrey. And the updates since this was originally written..... Well, its been decided that this car is now up for sale..... I have too many projects (GTR, 2x MK1 escorts), we need a commuter car and I want to focus on the classics a bit more. So whats changed? -Akebona brakes (from the 370z) have been fitted and they are AWESOME!!! -BC coilovers have been fitted -Cobra cat back exhaust has been fitted -18" touring wheels have been fitted -Carbon gear knob has been fitted -Sparco detachable boss has been fitted (quick release easy on/off of the steering wheel) -Kaiser Motors has done a full service What needs to be done? -New front numberplate needs to be fitted -New front lip needs to be fitted -Small scuff on the front bumper needs to be fixed -Sly has a spare key for the car, just needs the original to cut and setup Pics Pre detail:- Post detail:- Engine bay (post clean):- Steering wheel (well you get the idea):-

Similar, yes.... inspiration came from that car.

I'm interested in the suspension. Can you tell me more about age, mileage and where you are?
-
They are immense on the track.... There is a clip earlier in the thread Thanks! Had been at Slys for a while...
-
no problems, thanks
-
honestly no idea.... probably non, 2002 fairlady...
-
Thanks all Thanks Mark, please include the prices of the KW kit Thanks - could you PM me a price on the TEIN kit?
-
good question.... no idea, probably not which rules them out. So where is best to get replacements?
-
Ok, the time has come to replace the tired, yellow and cracked headlamp clusters on the fairlady... Where is best to get a set from? I have found these:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380821629848 Thoughts, anyone tried these?
-
Well after getting a load of rattles (interior) fixed and the wheel balancing and alignment done, the car is much better to drive now.... the only thing is that the suspension is just rubbish. Its very harsh, crashy, doesnt take bumps very well, etc. So need ideas on what to change to that will be good for comfort on the UKs potholed (to hell) roads.... I dont mind fitting coilovers, just needs to be comfortable. Will be changing the wheels and calipers as well, so may as well do the suspension at the same time. I have run the BC coilovers on my previous impreza and they were quite decent albeit a little rigid. Car is 2002 jspec fairlady.
-
thanks all! Will get more pics up over the weekend note sure... 500 for the bootlid, 175+vat for painting, 65+vat for fitting...
-
TomS I have MPSSs as well as the winch ARBs... Just want comfort to be a little more comfortable and race a little more useable. I just cannot justify the price if the litchfield suspension.
-
Thanks all - yes its epic on track!!! Such a monster!!! Future plans (in Feb/March with the next service):- -custom rear spoiler (going to be big!!!) -2012 suspension is going on, better ride, better race mode -potentially AP discs and new pads all round (my standard brakes are holding up well, so might hold off on this) After this:- -lightweight front seats -half cage (with rear seats stripped out) -lightweight exhaust -induction kit -remap -track wheels and tyres (18" with r888s)
-
Thats coming later Mount will go around the number plate, bolt directly to the chassis (not just the bootlid), will be detachable and will come out around the boot lid and up to the height of the roof.... Sly is going to make the mounting plate, just need to find a specialist to make the spoiler.
-
After a long wait, the bootlid has been fitted Thanks again Sly (I know Im impatient).... Car is a little dirty, but you get the idea!
-
Going to have to give that some thought..... I really do think the power delivery is what I am having an issue with. If the 350 felt as responsive as the TT I would be happy with it...... for a little while! Modern diesel are rather good, never actually expected it
-
I agree mostly... I think its also the way the power is delivered that I am not liking. I took an Audi TT quattro diesel for test drive yesterday, 170bhp (sports exhaust) and I was quite impressed with the performance and the way the power is delivered. I think its more the NA engine thats getting to me.... would a few small mods (decat, filter mod, spacer and a remap) make much difference? Issue with the dash gauges, they have since been replaced and the fuel consumption is sorted.... consumption was actually not a problem - trip counter was. and that
-
Update, car was dyno'd at Abbey.... power and fueling are spot on.... just had an issue with the dash gauges, so they have been swapped out and looking much better now. Performance must purely be down to me being used to the GTR
