  1. Well I have been car-less (except for the shitty BMW coupe, which was fun) for nearly a year now and it looks like the settlement with my ex may finally be happening. So I now have to replace all the cars that have been sold. They are, no particular order:- Nissan R35 GTR 650bhp for road and track Mazda MX5 mk2 supercharged for mostly track Datsun 240z rebuilt from the shell Now as much as I loved all those cars, I do not want to buy them again (well maybe the Datsun I dont want the expense of the GTR and I dont really care about being the fastest thing at a race track anymore. The MX5 was great fun, but the limits of the engine had been reached and would require lots and lots of money to go further. Lastly the 240z, well I barely drove and the restoration took 3.5 years!! Dont fancy that again, so will buy better next time. The budget will be £65-70k, so a decent amount to play with. Im not really into the modern day supercars, etc although I love the Astons, I know live in the South of France, where the roads are open and brilliant and I want to enjoy them more! Track (ish) - yes there will be another, but more like the GTR in concept, the all-rounder... good for road driving, long motorway cruises, short bursts around mountain roads and of course the track. MUST BE RWD!!!! Thinking has been along the lines of a BMW E36 compact and doing a 328 engine swap or Z3/4 coupe (non M models).... Something that is just pure bliss to drive.... here I am thinking about either another Datsun Z car, LHD, maybe not the 240z so its cheaper or a 964 911 or a 60s mustang, etc could also break this section into 2 classics, if the budget allows Torn on LHD VS RHD, especially for something that is used on track as I have only ever used RHD, but I am leaning heavily towards all cars being LHD. Money wise I would rather spend on the classics than the road/track car, so my budget is heavily weighted towards them Z and 911 Any other interesting suggestions or combinations.... bonus points for V8
  2. Unfortunately no deal could be reached, so this car is officially up for sale and we will be advertising at £25k
  3. thanks - love the pics! 2+2 looks good with stripes
  4. Awesome! Any pics of the 260? Love these things......... beautiful lines and sound! More info on whether I can keep will come next week
  5. Hahaa - many thanks! We are discussing it, so there may well be a deal on the table shortly.
  6. Supercharge it..... LIke my old MK2.5 It was absolutely brilliant fun!!! Should be able to find some pictures of it if you wish Time for that update
  7. Time for that update The car is technically finished, MOT'd, all rust is gone, paint work is AWESOME! However, the front suspension, the seats and the doorcards are still issues. As some will know, the car is supposed to be sold due to a split with my ex. However, I am very very tempted to keep it! I love the look of the car, it is exactly how I want it. What would be the guess at value of the car? Original UK RHD car, 3+ years of restoration 5 speed

    New Jimny

And then Liberty Walk got hold of it..... https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-japanesecars/liberty-walk-jimny/38544
  9. The full day sessions are absolutely worth the money!
  10. Let me guess, you did the "intro" Try their full day training, its brilliant and the amount of seat time is ridiculous! I did it with a friend and instead of sharing a car, they gave us 2 cars and 2 instructors and our own playground. Max revs in 2nd gear for entry is quite a feeling!

Hahaa.... baby G wagon..... I quite like it!
  12. I struggled with the transition of the FO8s, but soon that down great fun!!!
  13. GTR is a MUST own car for me! Had mine 6 years and loved it. Once I got it where I wanted it, the running costs were not too bad. 2011 car is serviced once a year, so I would be aiming for that, which is high 40s. Servicing is not that costly, it’s modifying and repairing that is expensive. AMV8 may well be next on my list, but I doubt I will be owning a car for a little while. However, I have looked at and am seriously considering another GTR for when I settle down in France, as an all round car, but not as a track car (that’s too expensive).
  14. Yes all running! Seats need some attention but that is it! They are just just waiting for the new suspension to arrive
  15. Ok, so the car is road going just need to sort out some suspension for the car..... needs to be a good road setup but height adjustable
  16. Have moved up north to my moms for a few weeks, then Im off to France Been more busy the last week than I have in the last while..... why is retirement so busy?
  17. Thanks all.... definitely will post some pictures Last day in the office today and starting to get nervous about it now...... FINALLY!!
  18. Cheers for the advice on where to go! Happy with any additional info or hidden gems. Adrian, definitely will do.... yes beautiful disaster comes to mind. French GF helps but will have other plans as well!
  19. Well as some of you may have seen from other posts of mine, I will be going overseas, to move, to travel, to explore, etc. Tomorrow is my last day and I am not sure why but I dont feel anything about it, maybe its just because SO much is changing, so much to think about that I have decided not to worry about it. But oh well, onto the good news.... I am officially retiring from IT work, tomorrow is my last day - 10 days before my 39th birthday!!! No idea what I will be doing with my life, but commuting, sitting in an office, having the same arguments with different companies about HA/DR and security strategies will not be it! The route:- 2 weeks in Lincolnshire (best part of the trip) to see my mom before departing 2 months traveling around France (joy of having a French girlfriend) 2.5 months in Japan (taking orders ;)) 2-4 weeks in Taiwan (less traveled and looks awesome) 3-4 days in Hong Kong (just because...) 30 days in Bali (well to relax of course) And then finally back to France (some time in June 2018) where we will be staying for about 6-8 months while we make some money and work on our next trip The Datsun 240z and Ford Escort MK1 will both be getting completed and sold (sadly :(), however it does mean that I can buy a few cars in France first will be an old twingo, after that something like a 260z (not as expensive), Alfa, etc and see what life in the south of France is like. All this does mean that I will become rather quiet on here, but dont forget, I will be watching...............
  20. Had a discussion with a few fellow GTR owners a few weeks ago and quite honestly, I think that the price in the UK is artificially high as there is 1 person that seems to keep buying all the good imports before they arrive, he has a large collection of R32s and R34s. Honestly believe that the prices of the R34s are a bubble, because even the "shitbox" ones are getting high money, which is just silly considering how much will need to go into it to rebuild it properly.
  21. R34 GTRs IMO that is a bubble Porsche old air cooled ones (I see them on the road quite a bit) NSXs most definitely Ford Cosworths

    ITS HERE....

I honestly dont think the pics do it justice.... I was always 50/50 on the DB11 from the pics, but when I saw it for real, it was awesome! Audi R8 is boring - looks like the TT on the road BMW 540C - I wouldnt even consider buying one, just a road going barge And lastly, thats yellow, not green..................

    ITS HERE....

I like aspects of it, but dislike others.... the grille is horrible and cheap! Exhausts I noticed immediately as well.... but good performance figures. I am guessing that it would be a similar price to the next GTR (which may or may not be hybrid powered and 700bhp) in which case, the price is quite good. Aston has more of brand image than the GTR, so I think it should do quite well. I prefer the old one though, so will find myself one of them soon (ish)!
