WOW - someone has been busy
-
In for the updates! Good luck with it!
-
See the link to my 240z in my signature its got flared arches and 17" wheels So yes, I will happily reproduce that in LHD! With the future idea being to maybe replace the engine with a RB25, just to save the standard engine for resale value of course

No doubt.... Z4 coupe is still on the list, needs to be compared. 3l coupe sounds pretty good to me!
-
Yeah, the Z3 coupe They are lovely and the M sport ones are a bit on the mental side! But they are almost collectors cars now, so not really worth buying. 2nd car would be something alongs the lines of a 240z or an old 911. Im leaning towards the 240z and pocketing the remainder of the cash for later. Maybe get an old mustang in a few years time....
-
Yes £65k is the budget for 2 cars to do it all.... What the coupe?? I remember them when they first came out in South Africa, loved it back then. Then was reminded about them a few years ago when I saw one at a Thruxton track day....
-
Hahaa, you dont want to know the state of it a year ago..... Yeah, they are quite rare and becoming difficult to find. Still needs the finishing touches, but gives the new owner a chance to personalise it - otherwise its solid!

Thanks for approving

The Datsun 240Z was the first Japanese sports car to be commercially successful internationally. It was the demonstration that Japan could build a fast, reliable and enjoyable car to drive and that Japan had become serious competition for European and American vehicles. This car is an UK original, RHD original Datsun 240z. Its 1 of about 125 in the UK with about 50% of them being declared SORN. The car was originally silver (see pictures for original condition) and was in need of restoration. I bought the car from a gentleman in the 240z club (Z Club) and continued to drive the car for 6-8 weeks, before deciding to take it off the road and complete a shell up restoration. This was a much longer process than original anticipated, taking a little over 3 years and sadly during that time circumstances changed quite drastically, hence the car being up for sale. The restoration is completely documented with over 250 photos. The car has been completely stripped down, media blasted to reveal ALL the rust and everything was repaired, rewired, everything. The car itself:- * 2.4 Straight 6 Petrol Engine 150bhp * 5 Speed Manual Transmission from a 280ZX * Brand new Mishimoto radiator * All new window rubbers * All new rubbers and bushings * Hilux brakes * Flared arches * 17" black Rota wheels to fill the arches with brand new tyres * New black fender mirrors * New black bumpers * New black front spoiler * Front strut brace * Rear strut brace * Clear front indicators * Clear side indicators * New front windscreen * Brand new headlamps The exterior is painted to a very high quality in Nissan GTR red! Unfortunately due to the change in circumstances the car cannot be completed, however it is roadlegal and has a valid/current MOT. The bad points:- * the interior needs some work to complete the restoration (the seats need a refurb and the dash has a missing component) * the doorcards need attention * the front suspension has not settled to the correct height after being rebuilt (it sits high at the front) I am sure I have forgotten stuff on the car, there was no expense spared on this restoration! The car is currently in storage in Horsham and the price is £25,000

Just found out that with access to the LHD market, there is a Z3 3.0l coupe which seems like a winner! https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=260933088&damageUnrepaired=NO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&isSearchRequest=true&makeModelVariant1.makeId=3500&makeModelVariant1.modelDescription=coupe&makeModelVariant1.modelId=51&pageNumber=1&scopeId=C&action=topInCategory&searchId=e57471ff-0b3e-ea83-f858-44fe6689a132

I like them, but Im not sure enough to buy one.... new cars arent that exciting for me..... although this could well be a future choice!! https://drivetribe.com/p/new-corvette-c8-confirmed-to-be-CHCCZgIDTLOrW2dDHZHA4w?fbclid=IwAR3xLSrb9xVEgCWCJ1Dx5-oyOo45TfDJMNaPWXEhS9Y5tRxfJmXclfJ77rY&iid=WGEut5G1TUqoPVBli8GfjA

Dont like the size and need LHD Hahaha BMW Z3 needs to be reliable, classic not so much, but not JAG level True
-
Exactly, after the GTR I am tired of having to be above 100mph to have the car doing something and the way it pulled to 190mph was just silly!! Want fun, not too fast, RWD.... not too pricey Its not about being faster, just the thrill of driving! I drove a 964 turbo in Japan and the pedals were horrible, the clutch was weird and the lag was horrendous, but when the boost came on it took some time to get used to driving it and I think it would take a lot longer to learn to drive fast on track, etc. Im happy with that...........

Had a friend whos F Type had a complete electronics failure (steering, brakes, lights hazards, everything), so would never buy one! Cayman is an option, definitely
-
And on the 240z VS 911 discussion....
-
or versus this..... didnt realise they came LHD https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/jensen/interceptor/jensen-interceptor-coupe-series-3-only-50-579-miles-special-summer-price/8831853
-
How reliable are they? When compared to the likes of Porsche 911 (964) or a Datsun Z (240/260/280)...
-
Soft and ordinary is acceptable That is easy enough to change! Been out in a friends Cayman, they are rather good! I did see that, but I am want/need LHD
-
Sadly no, my ex wants it sold as is
-
Wouldnt doubt it, I just cannot get on with the front of the 996 and the interior.... besides on older 964 is on the list Drove a 964 single turbo which was great fun! Thats my only concern, is the price of the M cars. Out here in France the prices seem a little better, but quite honestly a 200hp 1300kg RWD car is good for me. Has the weird looks, but not the M pricetag... some bolt on mods are available and worst case there is a supercharger option.... and I love superchargers!
-
Hahaa - be a bigger project than the 240z was! I do love them and oddly I like the hardtops.... Not a fan of Lotus, a friend has one and its constantly off the road - he compares them to his old Alfas Not sure what the new ones are like.... Ok, so I may have to test the Z3 M Coupe VS the Z3 Coupe....... will add to the list of potentials! I like the newer Porsches (997 and forward, but not the 996 - no doubt its capable though). Not that interested in flatout performance, keep in mind I had the GTR and it was just insane! Its more about driving experience, fun and usability (road and track). Unfortunately the Z4M is pushing the money too high on that side.... I would prefer a Z3 Coupe with the remainder of the money spent on a old 911 or Datsun Z or Nissan Hakosuka, etc. For that sort of money I would prefer to go Porsche 997 as the main road car......hmmmmmmmm
-
Not a Bentley fan Hahaa DBS's are "only" Interesting.... I have had a 350z, its also a heavy thing!
-
Z3 or Z4 coupes are coming up on the top of my list, seem to be very good all-rounders and I may be able to pickup a Z3 Coupe 2.8l LHD here for EURO 10-13k The area around Marseille is awesome with the beach roads and the Alps not too far away. Honestly cant wait to get a car out here!
-
I like them, but I have never wanted to own one. Would love an R34 GTR, but they are just too much money these days. Hmmmmm, interesting.............
-
Definitely high on the possibles list! But would like another car for the rest, but do agree that it would be ideal for most things!
