  1. Unless it's making a noise they should last the life of the engine from what I hear, ...the chain that is. The tensioners though may need changing due to wear but again it's not something you hear done very often although it might happen more often now with the cars getting older/higher mileage. The chains though can stretch and if that did happen your timing would be out so it should be throwing up the EML/error codes or at the very least be rattling I'd have thought as if the chain has stretched the chain would most likely be hitting the casing in that case (which causes the rattle from what I gather). I guess with the mileage getting as high as yours is it could be an issue but as you say the timing chain and tensioners have already been done at 90K miles by the previous owner then I really wouldn't worry about it (imo). Some more "related" threads: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/59171-possible-timing-chain-needs-changing/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/71799-timing-chain-noisechange/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/65092-cam-chain-change/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/68978-cam-chain-tensioner/
  2. Just been reading about this Concept motorbike from BMW. I'm not into bikes really but I do appreciate most anything with an engine especially if it looks as cool as this. Copied & pasted the blurb from the article below.... Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/bmw-self-driving-motorbike-concept-is-so-safe-you-dont-need-a-helmet-you-absolutely-do_uk_57ff407be4b0010a7f3dbb50?
  3. Love how it looks from the rear Whitevanman. Personally I'd leave it de-badged but up to you.
  4. Cant log onto the link ATTAK. Z. There you go.
  5. Definitely need some more pics. Looks pretty good though.
  6. Yeah but just look at the state of that thing you drive now... That's a tad harsh. I mean I didn't think it looked too bad, ...well that was until he added the aeroplane wing. ;)
  7. Not just Zeds, ...my black S3 isn't looking too pretty today either. Going to give it a good clean this weekend so it'll be clean for at least one day.
  8. Could be a problem with the synchromesh which would then just get worse & worse overtime. Might be looking at £500 plus labour for a gearbox overhaul if it's something like that I'd imagine. Could also go with a used gearbox but again still won't be cheap. There is the chance though it could be something made out of nothing, ...the gearboxes can be a bit notchy especially when cold. It can be quite common: My old Zed for example used to have problems going from 1st-2nd and from 5th-6th but after I had the gearbox oil changed and some Molyslip added it was fine afterwards even when cold. The thing is though if the seller has thought enough of the problem to put it in his advert then I'd imagine the problem is fairly apparent when driving so it may well be the synchro which is obviously expensive to sort. Plenty of gearbox related threads on here to read (there are more but here are a few): http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/42412-notchy-second-gear-when-cold/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/100329-how-strong-are-the-gearboxes/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/24069-5th-gear-synchro-problem/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/55220-350z-gearbox-issues/
  9. Maybe worth a PM to Baidan as he does mention the cars going Friday so maybe it's not too late, ...unless he's signed something with the dealer. Worth a message though I'd say if you're serious.
  10. No probs. I figured as much. Look forward to the video/s.
  11. Just thought, what about the Nissan Elgrand? Seen one a few weeks ago that a member bought so it just made me think of it now. Found this one on Pistonheads & there are others (it's a little over budget): http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/elgrand/nissan-elgrand-highway-star-petrol-3-5-automatic-8-seater/6271630
  12. Very nice. Fyi I deleted a few "double posts" that you made.
  13. What did Lexx have? ...Ford S Max I think it was. The newer ones will be out of his budget but I bet the older ones could be had for his budget. Can't really recommend anything as I've never had anything that is basically a bus.
  14. My old man thought the same as you, ...you'll find that after snow foaming & jet washing it still won't be clean unfortunately. It will get off some of the road dirt/grime but ultimately I still think your car will look unclean once it drys. Best thing (imo) is to; jet wash, snow foam, jet wash, two bucket clean/sheeps wool mitt, jet wash and then leave to air dry if you don't want to chamois/towel dry it (you will no doubt get water marks though still). See what the others say too.
  15. No problem. Good luck with getting a Zed.
  16. Replied in your other thread Op. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/112106-after-a-car-thoughts/page__st__20
  17. Very easy to replace the single exit exhaust with a twin again. Plenty of options available from the professional traders on here like Torqen, Tarmac Sportz, the Cougar Store & more all in the "Professional Traders" area. You could also go for a secondhand option as they do also pop up on here as well as eBay etc. The old system would sell imo as it's a decent enough system plus it looks in fair condition & some members will always want to go for a louder exhaust. You also have enough posts to make a for sale advert in the "350Z parts for sale" sub section. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/213-350z-parts-for-sale/ This will give you some ideas on new prices depending on whether it's a full system with the Y-pipe or just a centre section & back box: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/101158-350z-single-exit-performance-power-package-pre-order/ No idea on the garage front in Derby sorry but any competent independent garage will be able to remove an old exhaust and fit a new one.
  18. I'm no "professional" but it looks decent enough for the money. States that it has had the cam cover gaskets fixed, new clutch & flywheel so that lot won't have been cheap to do which is a great selling point. MOT history shows a lot of advisories in the past but I'd have thought most of them have been dealt with by now: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ Some decent enough mods done as well like the exhaust, brake discs, aftermarket headunit & more. I'd say take it for a test drive to see how it drives, check all the service history/paper work & if all looks good then I can't see why you wouldn't want to buy it. Buyers guide here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/110679-youtube-350z-buyers-guide-fixes/ Service schedule here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/31110-service-schedule-for-a-350z/ Good luck with whatever you decide.
  19. Not that there is anything wrong with the Mondeo, just that it's not quite as exotic or rare shall we say as the McLarens or Caterhams of this world. Best bet for posting pictures is by using Photobucket. Guide here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/103472-how-to-add-your-photos-to-the-forum/ Plenty of us on here do love our car detailing so always happy to read a good detailing thread or learn some new techniques from those in the know.
