Much better place for it than where the standard Vortech filter is usually placed and also a larger surface area so better again, ...but you know all that.

I really can't say why it's not working for you but all I can say is that I used to have a Pioneer double din DVD unit in my old Zed which was fitted locally by an audio specialist. It was wired up with the original Bose equipment which all still worked plus all my steering wheel controls still worked with the unit. It's a "festoon" bulb you need, around 36mm long I believe. If you just want a standard bulb then you should be able to walk into a Halfords branch locally to pick one up.

You could buy a small bag for (I'm guessing ) £10-£20 odd and that'd be enough easily to stink out a car/room if it was Skunk. So not enough for a slam panel George unfortunately.

Hydro dipping AKA water transfer printing is definitely your best bet for this imo. I had it done on my old Zed a few years ago by "AquaGraphix" and it was around £70 including delivery for them to prep, spray, dip & lacquer both my door switch panels plus the grab handle strip. I knew someone years & years ago who used to hide his weed inside his steering wheel where his airbag should have been. Still, it didn't stop him getting caught by the Police with a 1/2 ounce of Skunk & getting into quite a bit of trouble.

That's far too easy and I'm sure he would have found it by now if it was in there. Could be underneath the ashtray, maybe just beneath the steering wheel column or somewhere else slightly less obvious like hidden behind the dashboard maybe.
