  1. Good effort Brad Here's to many trouble-free miles ahead!
  2. Nice one Granville! Did your Mrs choose the S3?...... I thought at least you'd go for the RS3? Again, be interested to hear how it compares to the Honda. You'll have to do a Chris Harris type of review after you've ragged it over the next couple of weeks.
  3. Most of the action appears to be on the A487 from Dolgellau to Machynlleth. This is part of the "Mach Loop" where you can get a vantage point above the incoming jets as they fly down the valley...... We just seem to get the tailenders!
  4. We live in the southern part of Tactical Training Area T7 and are subject to regular low level (100ft) passes by Tornado,Typhoons, C130 Hercules and F-15 Grim Reapers from Lakenheath. Always crap yerself when they catch you unawares!!
  5. Excellent choice!
  6. you had to do it, didn't you ..... one thing on your mind - bloody typical ps welcome Ron You know me too well!
  7. Welcome to the forum Ron from a fellow sexagenerian!
  8. Similar thing happened to me at a filling station. I was parked up and a truck scraped all my panels from front to back. The half-wit appeared oblivious, and when I approached him he took a swing at me and kept advancing to hit me. I engaged a certain amount of back-pedalling and persuasive interaction from a colleague I'd just met there. Dumbo was having none of it and took off, not before I'd taken details from the truck and reg no. Luckily, I had a witness and it was a company car, so I just passed all the details on to my employer to sort out.
  9. Good choice...don't wanna be too low on the welsh B roads, especially around my neck of the woods
  10. Its a simple job, and buying one is cheaper than getting a garage to do it. But as you say, its a one shot deal. Can you imagine how many arch rollers are laying dormant in peoples sheds around the UK. Maybe we need a roller location map on here to save people having to buy them.
  11. I never owned it, but an Austin Maestro company car. Gearbox failed within 2 months from new and I wrote it off after 6 haha! Utter crap! .....followed by Defender 110. I used to get as anxious as hell approaching any kind of gradient as the old girl barely made it to the top. What do you expect with only 68 horses and and 2 ton! Always had a massive tailback behind me. She got fed up with being driven flat out and chucked a valve through a piston.
  12. I can recommend a garage I use all the time, but its 30 mile north of Swansea. I assume you'll be looking for somewhere along the M4 I had my Teins fitted and alignment done last year for a fraction of what you've been quoted there.
  13. £499!! Whereabouts in South Wales are you?
  14. ^^^ What Zeus said, as far as I'm aware also, its just the oil gallery gaskets. The HR has larger main bearings and reinforced main caps and supposedly 80% of engine components have been redesigned or strengthened to cope reliably with the extra 1000 revs.
  15. Don't hold back now Steve.....tell it as it is Believe me, I was showing a fair bit of restraint actually, considering the stress and anguish we suffered, through no fault of our own!
  16. Yes, be very careful when buying property, its a minefield out there....full of incompetent ''officials'' that haven't a clue....... I bought a plot of land with planning permission... only to discover after I'd moved onto the site with caravans that no, you aint got pp and dont bother re-applying because its in open countryside. Also refused temporary permission for caravans as it wasn't deemed a legitimate building site. WTF!!!! I was paying a mortgage on the plot so couldn't afford to rent anywhere else to live. Forced to live in caravans for 8 years while living under the threat of being evicted. This was how long it took to be sorted out and the house eventually built!! All with a wife and 4 children to consider That is what you call a living NIGHTMARE!
  17. You are best speaking to ioneabee, he lives in Pembs and should be able to tell you. I use a guy in Capel Isaac but it maybe too far for you, as its the other side of Carmarthen.
  18. Sounds like the motor is cooking on the motorised valve. Did you replace the motor head when you replaced the valve?
  19. Pete & Doogy, you've inspired me to go out and take some shots! Unfortunately, most of the wildlife is delivered to the back door by one of our cats. This week, a blue tit and today a racing pigeon. The retriever commandeered the pigeon and eat it, so no tea for her tonight.
  20. Greet her with... "Hi darling I'm back. I know its been a long time...you ready to be fired up?"
