Sounds like the clutch has run it's course and was beginning to fail when you bought it. 'you have to get used to the clutch as its a heavy duty one'.sounds like he was spinning you a line and knew it was on the way out. Hey ho, that's life and as others have said talk to one of the suppliers on here and replace the clutch. As it's been slipping I'd be inclined to replace the fly wheel too while the box is out. Research locally, perhaps try a social media site such as Nextdoor and ask for mechanic/garage recommendations. Make sure you specify recommendations from personal experience, not brother Joes best mate. You maybe pleasantly surprised. Just a thought, is this work because of an MOT failure or the garage taking the proverbial? Good luck with it.

Ditto, have one on my 04 DE. Ark exhaust drowns most of it but keeping the revs up especially will definitely help. Nothing to worry about, it’s one of those no pain no gain scenarios. I soon got used to it.

As others have said maybe the offer isn’t attractive enough given the current financial situation for some.
