White 370z, Harlow, Sunday, 11.30am (ish)
-
Firstly, all uk 370z's have viscous limited slip differential as standard. Secondly, the rate of clutch wear depends on your driving style. I've had 2 x 350z's and a 370z and (so far) I've not had to replace a clutch. Some people can make a clutch last for ages. I've not had my car on the track, but even if I drive in a spirited fashion on the roads I can make the oil temperature get quite high very easily. If I were going to track my car (and I'm not) I'd seriously consider an oil cooler, as well as uprating the brakes, of course. If I were you, as you're able to spend 18k, go for a GT version (not to be confused with the GT Edition), 2010 or later, because the audio upgrade is significant. If you're lucky you could get a 2010 GT pack version for quite a lot less than that - I did, and that was over 2 years ago Good luck.

Coincidentally, I saw one on offer in Aldi today. Might not be what you're after. They're doing tools too. https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-13th-march/product-detail/ps/p/25hp-air-compressor/

The fuel filler flap locking mechanism is very flimsy - I speak from personal experience. Having annoyed a fellow motorist with my driving style, I decided to lock my doors internally. I promptly forgot I'd done this and stopped at Tesco for some petrol. Got out of the car and the filler flap wouldn't open (presumably the internal lock will let you open the car door, but keeps the filler flap locked). Didn't realise why it wouldn't open, got frustrated, pulled it and 'ping' - broke the little plastic locking piece. Luckily the little plastic piece was sitting just under the fuel cap, so I took it home. When I got home I simply removed the filler flap lock assembly from inside the boot, drilled two small holes - one in the little broken plastic piece and another in the end it had broken off from and connected them back together with a small double-ended screw (ebay). An unintentional bonus is that my lock is now much more secure because it has a metal screw running right though it. ...or you can pay $95+shipping for a new part from Courtesyparts in the USA - or probably more from Nissan UK. Hope this helps someone. Here's a picture of the whole assembly (the bit that breaks off is on the left)...

Cheap DAB radio/MP3 player for your Z?...
chubbster replied to chubbster's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
I shall use it next time I go somewhere and let you know how it performs. Currently I've only gone into town and back. -
I've just taken delivery of a cheap portable DAB radio/MP3 player... It was £32.98 from Amazon. The earphones are cheap and the clock function doesn't work properly, but I don't care because the DAB function is excellent (60 crystal clear stations in my area) and it works really well in the car - just plug it into the aux socket. I think my USB socket will charge it too, but I've not tried that yet. You can buy it for £29.98 direct from the company (Clever Gadgets) in Bristol - LINK HERE - but don't expect too much in the way of customer support from them, from what I've read. Also, you'll need to put your MP3's on a micro SD card, which is not supplied. For me this is a cheap and effective solution to the problem of not having DAB radio in the car. Plus, as it's portable, it can be transferred to whichever car/campervan I like. Read the Amazon reviews before you buy - some fussy people have issues with it, but for me it's fine. Just sharing the love

Thanks very much for taking the trouble to do this. Sounds lovely to me

Your comment about annoying the neighbours has nearly sold it to me. I really want one now. Can't wait to see/hear the latest vid - I assume it will be 'drone-related'?
-
Yes, this is the key question for me too. The price, quality and acceleration noise seem to be good, but if there's any drone when I'm just pootling along, or even under gentle acceleration, I might not buy it. So, as Ekona says, be honest - is there any drone?
-
In case you can't find the answer by searching, either here or on Google, cargo nets from Poundland or Aldi are just as good as the overpriced 'genuine' Nissan ones - and being lighter they improve your fuel consumption, allowing you to afford Tesco Momentum. imho

Brilliant idea - thanks mate. I'll let you know how I get on. -
Beautiful White 370 GT-Edition in Bengeo...

This is really starting to bug me - I saw it again in Hertford town centre - and it's looking nicer every time -
Hi Darren - in addition to what everyone else has said, don't forget that you also get better fuel consumption from higher octane fuel, so the price differential ends up being almost nil (I did the maths a few years ago). Plus, as I'm not as polite as the rest - why on earth did you buy a racehorse if you're thinking about giving it cattle food?
-
Nicely spotted mate - It's always good to have an extra rear view mirror. Could be good for a laugh every now & again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless I'm very much mistaken, isn't this kind of conclusive proof that he's not pyschic? In fact, you don't need to even be psychic to know the equation C2H6O + Z = X Zed Edited to correct a typo

 - cobblers Do I detect that you may not agree entirely!?! I've got a silver car, it's coming up to 4 years old and the paintwork is in brilliant condition. I look after it, but I'm not obsessive. My previous Z's had swirls everywhere within 12 months or less. So I stick with what my eyes are telling me - the paint is good (much better than previous Nissan coatings). The swirls just are not there - but I don't want to divert this guy's thread, so start a new topic if you want to carry this one on.

Ditto with my last 2 sales. There's always a bit of concern in the back of my mind, because I'm not seeing real banknotes, but both sales have gone through without a hitch. I suppose you need to feel you trust the other party too, don't you?
-
Hi Rich, I've not been on the forum for a while, or I'd have answered sooner. I've owned Z's since 2004 (2 x 350z's and a 370z). As far as fuel consumption is concerned, the 370z is marginally better than the 350z, but only very slightly. The reviews you've read that state it's worse are just plain wrong. So you don't need to be worried about paying far more for fuel, or filling up much more frequently - you won't notice much difference. The first time I drove my 370z in a 'spirited' way I noticed that it was significantly quicker/more powerful than my HR 350z. I think you might be quite happy with the power upgrade from your current car. I find that the 370z doesn't handle quite as well as my 350z's did at higher speed (the 350's used to be confidence-inspiring at higher speeds), nor does it go in a straight line as easily - I'm forever getting unwanted feedback from the steering wheel and having to make tiny adjustments. This never happened in my 350z's. Grip levels are similar in both cars (not good under harsh acceleration) and depend on your tyres. The gearshifts are pretty much identical. If you don't like the 350, you wont like the 370's. Personally, I like both. Nice and solid/positive - not 'agricultural' at all. Cabin noise levels are still bad - but in addition the 370z doesn't have the lovely exhaust note of the 350z. The trim/comfort/satnav/audio/ipod connectivity is much better in the 370z, especially from 2010 onwards. I dare say some people will disagree with something I've said, but then again, I disagree with some of the things others have said here too. Personally, I'd go for it - and good luck mate. ...oh yes, the 'self healing paint' is good too. No swirls to worry about. It won't stop stone chips though.
-
It's not even like he had nobody to replace Lloris - Brad Friedel is an excellent goalie and he's built like a brick sh!thouse - I'd feel sorry for ANYONE who clattered Friedel, accidentally or otherwise.
-
Boas' decision to let him play on was just about as good as his regular (and ridiculous) decision to keep Jermain Defoe on the bench for most of the time in Premiership games this season, when Spurs are totally unable to score goals in open play. Personally, I still bemoan the departure of Harry Redknapp and I don't think AVB's up to the job. Hope I'm proved wrong.

I don't suppose your car was originally supplied by Marshall Nissan, Cambridge, was it? -
This time it was a 350z - nice looking car with dark wheels (it was night, so I'm not sure if they were black or not). Anyway - nice looking car.

Welcome. I'm in Herts too. I think you'll find the official name is 'sunset orange' (just in case you need touch-up paint). Temper orange was introduced in 2007.
