  1. Just thought id butt in!! Firstly i wouldnt let ANYONE wrap my Zed for 950.00, a good wrap, no cutting on the car, decent vinyls (i recommend Avery, better than 3m and Hexis) and 3 days work will cost you between 1700-2000. No less. As for prepping the car, bodywork should be in tip top condition, no cheap spray jobs or youre gonna lose your paint and usually it will take around 4/5 hours to get clean and degreased. As AliveBoy rightly says, only use bubblefree wrapping vinyls, not standard, although even bubblefree will fail just as quick as a normal vinyl if it isnt post heated. It has 2 memories, 1 as it comes and 2 after you have applied it to your car. Once you heat it to the correct temperature it forgets the first memory and conforms to its latter shape. Lights, door handles etc etc should all come out too...if not, then theyre cutting on the car. Obviously its up to you what you do, but i do it for a living, i get fed up with hearing all the negative stories about car wrapping...its a great way to mod your car if you want it...its just a shame there are people out there that think its easy and anyone can do it, when really they have no clue as to its strengths and weaknesses, its application and its limitations. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
  2. Wondering if it would interfere with the strut bar?
  3. I would have thought not as im presuming they've already updated it. But im no expert!! Ask Wasso.
  4. If you ask VERY nicely you might find someone on here willing to take a look who might be local, its not unheard of. And just imagine the drive home in it When I bought my VX220 it was a hot balmy summers evening, I had 170 miles ahead of me, roof down and away I went. Got home at 11pm with the roof still off! It was a BRILLIANT drive. Thats a really good idea, top marks!
  5. Ooooohhh that yellow one Stick with your nice blue one!!
  6. Take your pick!! http://www.pistonhea...004&YearTo=2005
  7. Wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Dont do Autotrader either, id go to Pistonheads, lots of very nice Zeds all within your price range. For £7000 you should get a good 05 car bar a few stone chips etc. Go standard too, you can do all that yourself and at least youll know the mod history as YOU will have done it. Check its service history too. Remember 06 cars are a higher road tax bracket too. Part of owning a Zed is the wide range of little bits and pieces you can do to it via the trusty and knowledgeable sellers on this forum, youll get a far better understanding of your car, youll know its history and if you take the advice of the guys on here, youll have a pretty reliable bullet-proof car!! P.s Remember to check on the old insurance, i'm with AXA, costs me about £320 a year comprehensive cover. Good luck!!
  8. Q: Can I apply Paint Protection Film dry? A: No, it must applied with the recommended solutions. Q: How should surfaces be prepared before application of the PPF? A: All surfaces must be cleaned prior to film application. Be sure to use a cleaner that will not leave a residue, such as 3M Glass Cleaner. On repainted vehicles the paint must be thoroughly dry and completely cured before any attempt to apply film to the vehicle is made, in order to avoid film bubbling due to paint outgassing. Check paint manufacturer's instructions for recommended cure time and method. Q: Is there a certain temperature at which PPF must be applied? A: The film should be applied when air and application surface temperatures are between 55 degrees - 90 degrees F (13 - 32 degrees C). Surfaces may be heated in order to raise the surface temperature. This may be done with a portable heater, heat lamps or hot water. Q: How do I remove bubbles underneath the film? A: If the bubble is close to the edge, spray soap solution onto the film and squeegee with a fast, firm stroke. If the film is not fully tacked yet (early in the application), the film can be lifted just past the bubble and reapplied using standard application techniques. If the film has tacked, then use a diabetic syringe to fix the bubble. Q: How do I fix a bubble using a diabetic syringe? A: Prepare the diabetic syringe by bending the needle to a 45 degree angle to allow for insertion of the needle at the base of the bubble. If the bubble is filled with solution, insert the needle and extract the solution using the syringe. If the bubble is filled with air, fill the syringe with alcohol solution; insert the needle into the bubble; inject the alcohol solution into the bubble to expand the diameter of the bubble; then extract the alcohol and the air using the syringe. Q: How can I fix or prevent the edges on the film from lifting? A: To help the wrapped edges of the film stay securely in place after application, wrap a Detail Cloth (3M Part No. 06020) around the squeegee and use firm strokes. If the edge is wet, let the application dry an hour before tacking or use a heat gun to speed up the process. Q: Can PPF be applied on a vehicle that has had the paint touched up? A: 3M recommends that any repainted surfaces on your vehicle be professionally and fully cured before applying paint protection film. If you have touched up scratches or chips with a tube of "touch-up" paint and then apply paint protection over it, the film will protect that area until it is removed. If the paint protection film is removed, it is possible that the paint around the non-professional touch-up paint could peel off. Q: Why doesn't the pre-cut kit fit correctly? A: The kit may not fit correctly because it may have stretched during installation or have been improperly aligned on the vehicle. Due to the nature of the kit cutting process, there could also be some variation in the size of kits. Q: What is silvering and how do I get rid of it? A: Silvering is a whitish/silver color that appears under the film and is most noticeable on darker colored cars. If insufficient squeegee pressure is used during an application, small amounts of air and water mix and form micro bubbles underneath the film. The remedy is to add a little more soap to the water/soap solution to help the squeegee slide more easily while using a firmer application stroke. The extra soap also gives the installer more time before the adhesive tacks to the surface. Q: What are lift lines and how do I get rid of them? A: Lift lines look similar to silvering and are caused by lifting the film and putting it back down after the adhesive has already set up and tacked. To fix a lift line, lift the film a few inches past the lift line, spray with the alcohol solution and then re-squeegee. To prevent lift lines, add a little more soap to the water/soap solution. This gives the installer more time before the adhesive tacks to the surface. Q: If the film will not stick during application, what should I do? A: There are a number of reasons why film may not stick. Always use proper cleaning and preparation techniques that are standard in the industry. For example,do not use contaminated cleaning towels. Do not get overspray from other processes on the surface to be cleaned. Incorrectly mixed solution can cause low or no tack. Q: There is a partial palm/finger print under the film; how can this be removed? A: Fingerprints can be avoided during installation by keeping your fingers wet. After the installation is complete, the material must be replaced to correct the issue. Q: Can I print on PPF? A: PPF was not designed to be printed. Q: Can PPF be installed on motorcycles? A: Yes, PPF can be installed on motorcycles. Q: Will PPF work on windshields? A: It is not recommended for this use. Q: Can PPF be installed on headlights? A: In the United States, Department of Transportation safety standards do not allow for any film to be placed on headlamps. Other countries may or may not regulate.
  9. Im making this especially for people like you who arnt confident in applying large graphics, it will be in reasonably manageable sizes. You apply this product with a soapy water so you can re-align it if you need to. My advice would be to get someone local to you to apply it if youre not confident.
  10. I can do a nismo front but would need to find one to be able to template it properly!!
  11. At the moment its for the standard oem front spoiler but i am going to make up a kit for the wings and bonnet edge. Just takes a long time to get right, im putting this on my zed so its got to be pretty spot on as im a fusspot!!...plus if im selling it then it needs to be good, i dont want people being unhappy with what they get...at the end of the day, ive put a lot of hours into this and i want it to be a popular product.
  12. Just an update on the stone chip kits, im looking at selling each kit for about £140 if i can get enough buyers and it may be available at a slightly cheaper rate, i'll post a photo in situ. It will come with instructions and i'll throw in a 'special' anti scratch squeegee!! Will post a pic of the kit which will consist of easier to apply bite size chunks. Im not only doing Zeds as ive had a fair bit of interest from the RS boys too, in fact i can do any model as long as i can template it. I can also do custom shapes other than front spoilers but the waiting time will be a little longer. Let me know if youre interested and i can go from there.
  13. Hahahaha, Hey try Oponeo online, I got my 19" dunlop sport max tires for £170 each rather than £250 each, arrived in 4 days!!

  18. Remind me to avoid hitting your car hahaha!!
  19. Blimey!!! I know what you mean. Men seem to like their cars more, when i got my zed, most of the comments from women that i know were 'got a mid-life crisis then!!?' Ummm no, i just like cars!! Its like people that dont indicate or say thanks when you let them out, people that use your car as a buffer when parking and people that use a chainsaw next to your nice new car, i just think of them as thoughtless. 'Thoughtless' covers a big variety of things and generally i dont like thoughtless people full stop. In fact i am one of the most thoughtful people in the world!!! haha
  20. Unbelievable!!...actually its not is it!!
  21. Thats not a bad point!! Actually what if mobile phones can have sensors in them that show direction/movement etc we should be able to buy something that goes into the car! What do you recon? Remember, this was my idea!!Funnily enough, if i go to a car park, i always take a photo of the cars either side of me!! so that i have their number plates just in case!! sneaky eh!! think you'll find most mobiles already have those sensor in them Dont think she'd be able to use a mobile phone...especially THAT app!!...she cant even reverse!!
  22. But...but...but....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
