  1. So how do you apply the 'uv hardcoat'? Can you tell its been coated at all?
  2. Ok, Im interested to know how many on here suffer from headlight yellowing and also what causes it. Its either UV rays, heat from the bulbs...or both. Ive got an idea to solve this problem...if its UV related. Im looking into producing an 'optically clear uv protective headlight wrap' which can be placed over the headlight face to protect it from future yellowing. Obviously you'd need to polish your headlights before fitting. So, just wondering if anyone would be interested? It will depend on whether it is a UV problem though as if it is a heat related issue then im not sure this will work. Any input on this would be appreciated!!
  3. ...and remember, wrapping is about doing it the best way possible, sometimes you will find you need to join the wrap so really, there is nothing wrong with wrapping your mirror in 2 halves as long as you can hide the join somewhere, let one piece overlap by a couple of mill. When im wrapping, sometimes id rather use a join knowing it wont fail somewhere done the line rather than taking a chance and having the customer return unhappy...which, so far has never happened i might add!! Just remember, post heat post heat post heat...if you dont do this, it WILL fail around tight curves and areas where you have stretched the vinyl. Sorry to say that there are a lot of wrappers out there that cut corners, dont post heat enough and also cut on the car...hence why the trade has a bad name, especially on forums.
  4. If youre wrapping a mirror then id cut off a 500mm x 500mm square of material leaving you plenty to play around with. I wrap for a living so you need plenty of excess to allow you to stretch the material around the mirror without having to over stretch it which will put stress on the vinyl and give it more chance of failing.Use a good vinyl. We always try to use Avery Supreme material, head and shoulders over the rest such as 3M and Hexis. In fact for me, Hexis is a no go. Any probs or questions feel free to ask!
  5. To hold its shape the wrapping material HAS to be post heated. I post heat to no less than 95 degrees when wrapping. And ZZZ is right, if you're not a wrapper by trade it's best that you get someone to help you, you WILL need a heat gun rather than a hairdryer though.
  6. It should do, if you use a good quality film, ive never had a fading issue so far.
  7. Seriously, id avoid the 3M route, its good but not that good, youre paying for a brand, Avery is the best by far, especially on a zed where you want a high gloss finish on those sexy curves. We are 3M affiliated wrappers but most will tell you that Avery Supreme is the best of the bunch. http://graphics.averydennison.eu/en/home/products/vehicle-wrapping-materials/cast/supreme-wrapping-film.html
  8. Don't worry about it lifting. If it's done correctly it won't lift.
  9. We charge no less than 1600 upwards to wrap a car. I'd think a zed would be in the region of £1800 + vat. Anything less than £1600 don't touch with a barge pole!! Also when getting a quote, tell them you want it wrapped in Avery Supreme. By far the best film for quality and shine. Beats 3M any day. I wouldn't use anything else on my zed. Hope this helps!!
  10. Hi buddy, yup i can make you one, most of the kit will fit with a tweek at the bottom where the lip starts but would need to template the actual lip itself. Not sure where you are? Whether i come to you or you come to me? Or id need to find someone from here that has one that i can copy. Gotta say i do like this lip, may think about getting one on mine! I'm in Aylesbury bud, don't mind doing a road trip to see you for a template. Yeah they do look lovely. Wasn't so keen on all the other styles of lips/splitters. Ahhh well if you dont mind doing that then im up for producing something for you. Although id need time to produce the kit.Id also be interested to see your lip tbh!
