  1. Just thinking over ideas for next year and one of the options is to supercharge the Z. I know very little about FI and would be talking with a trader on here to arrange all the parts I need if I was to go ahead. Anyway, the million dollar question. My Z currently has 79k on the clock. Would millage like that be a concern if planning FI, would the motor need rebuilt? I see tarmac do the basic kit for just under £4,000. I guess on top of that I'd need exhaust, uprev and some other bits and bobs. All in what should I be expecting to spend to see 400bhp? I know it's a noobish question but we gotta start somewhere right
  2. Fitted my tarmac sportz gt lip today, pretty happy with the results. Compliments other mod's nicely. Off to the bodyshop next for front end re-spray.
  3. Was a right pain in the ass fitting it solo . I'd recommended two people for anyone else fitting one. The 3mm tape I bought just wouldn't stick, in the end I drilled holes and screwed one end on first then fitted the other side afterwards. It's currently held on by 3 self taping screws on each side, it seem's sturdy tho. It doesn't quite sit flush all the way along but it still look's good and will do for the time being. I'll get the bodyshop to fix it properly when I get the paint sorted. Still more than happy with the result, set's the wheels off nicely and the cars starting to take shape. Can't help but thinking a big gay wing and side skirts would compliment it nicely..... It's literally never ending
  4. Exellent I'll give it a shot today. Fingers crossed I don't ruin it haha.
  5. I've got my tarmac sports gt front lip sat in the house and while I was planning on getting it fitted when I get the respray next year I'm getting impatient and fancy fitting it myself, just unpainted for the time being. A test fit shows it sits nice and flush already, just not too sure how to go about attaching it. Will some 3m tape do the job for a temporary fit or is that a bad idea? If it needs drilling do I just attach it first and drill holes behind the wheel arch then fit screws with a little washer? I've never done anything like this before but I'm pretty handy with a drill etc. Is this worth attempting myself? It's going to drive me mad waiting until next year haha...
  6. + 1 for goodyear eagle F1's... can get em under £100 a corner now too, best tyre for the money in my opinion!
  7. The Z is my daily and I travel to work 5 days a week so it's essential. I'm not worried about the odd day here and there but if we get hit by weeks of snow I'll be in trouble, it was amazing how quickly the conditions changed from normal to completely snowed under last Saturday. I could just put some money aside and see what the weather does I guess. Winter tyres have never appealed to me much, I could get a cheap run about for the same cost anyway and save on fuel etc. I remember lots of people continuing to use their Z's last winter, it seems things have changed a bit this year.
  8. I'm based in Newcastle. It's bright and sunny now, that's why I'm having such a hard time with the idea of spending £500 on a winter motor, especially when the Z needs work doing to it. I'll be completely knackered if the weather gets bad again tho. Arrghh decisions!
  9. This weather claims another victim! Sorry to see this buddy, hope it's sorted hassle free.
  10. Maybe I should just sell up, buy an evo and be done with it
  11. I'm running 265's on the rear of the Z at the minute, it was genuinely scary driving in it. The snow came from nowhere and caught me out as I was already at work when it started. Look's like a little daily is in order for the winter, I'm gonna be really angry if it doesn't snow again now mind
  12. This thread reminds me of a ride out I once had in a 500+ BHP supra with retractable number plates Seriously tho, be careful out there people. After a road sign randomly flying off the motorway and into my car the other day it made me stop and think, it's not the speed that's a problem, it's the inability to control the environment around us that's the big danger. I normally put my foot down a little on the road where it happened too and on this particular day I was going slow due to the weather. Had I been pushing on a bit it's almost a given that I would have crashed....... Or drove right past it due to missing the event entirely because of said speed Edit due to too much info on original post.
  13. Last year I bought a 1.2 fiesta to nip about in while the roads were bad and sold it around march time, I'm considering doing the same again this year. The Z's had a bit of a hard time this winter already, got stuck on a hill in the snow and managed to slide into a curb scraping one of the wheels, then there was the roadworks incident which has ruined my front bumper. It's got to the point where I'm scared to take it out in bad conditions It's a tough choice because the amount it would cost to buy a second car could also be enough to get the Z repaired and back in tip top condition, I'm also keen to get new parts fitted which I've had sitting around for a while now. On the other hand the mileage is creeping up to 80k on it now too so it would be nice to beat on a little 1.2 for a while and keep the miles down on the Z. What is everyone else doing this winter? I'm finding the Z a right handful in the snow, it's really bad. I was crawling home on the motorway when it snowed here, having to keep countering the back end sliding out with the steering the whole way due to zero traction
  14. Bad time of year on the roads! The wind is constantly blowing things onto the road around my way. My front bumper is ruined because of it. Gonna wait until the weather gets better to get the respray now.
  15. Take the money and accept his apology? Can't see what the problem is as long as he delivers it when promised this time. Congrats on the wedding.
  16. Nobody's calling you a mug fella, in hindsight researching the prices they gave you first would have been a good idea I paid £700 for an exedy clutch, lightweight flywheel/ fitment when I first bought the Z and about £500 for goodyear tyres, I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, just giving you some perspective. It's common knowledge on here not to take your car to Nissan, I've seen so many post's similar to this one, it's always a shame to see new owners getting ripped off. It's understandable why you would take you're car there but but unfortunately the main dealers are clueless money grabbers and you've learnt that now. £3,200 is a disgusting amount of money to be charged for the work you've had done, especially given that the problem is not fixed. It's a disgrace that they can get away with this sort of thing, while it may be pointless I'd certainly not go quietly in your shoes. Fingers crossed you get it sorted soon without too much headache so you can start enjoying the car! Good luck.
  17. Oh dear, poor guy. Lesson learnt the hard way here I'm afraid. One thing I never understand is why people come on here looking for advise then ignore any advice given and continue to make their situation worse. People here have learnt from the same mistakes and have the knowledge to help, listen to them!!
  18. I can only imagine how satisfying getting as far as you did would be! What was the name of your band? I'll understand if you don't want to disclose it. That's a funny story about the album production, in hindsight not a bad idea from the producer either I've had a taste of it, we've supported some "famous" bands, I've played on some big stages and we were getting recognition from various magazines etc, I've met a few people I used to consider idols, in a sense I lived my dream too, it just ended way to soon unfortunately and it felt like it ended just as we were getting somewhere. Had my band learnt how to control themselves and focus on the music instead of partying like rockstars I'm confident things would have been different. Do you still make music now?
  19. I never realized you were a musician Linus! The reality is it's very hard to avoid this sort of thing when you play in a band, especially if you travel and tour etc. Non of our band got involved in the hard stuff either but we pretty much hammered everything else, similar to your situation the people around us were doing harder drugs, I've lost two good friends to heroin and one to suicide. In the end the partying became more important to everyone in the band (apart from myself) and making music became almost impossible due to the constant state of everyone. The last straw was a very embarrassing festival gig where we stumbled through the set because everyone bar me hadn't slept in days. The drummer left and that was that. Sad really, we had potential to make a living out of it but the band couldn't get their act together. Some of my best memory's are of that band, when it was right, it was brilliant. Their's something empowering about traveling and playing live music, especially with your best mates, it's just very easy for it all to spiral out of control. I'm currently converting the loft in my house and making a home studio, got all the gear already, so for now that will keep me sane, will probably look to get another band going at some point but I'm enjoying the quiet life at the minute
  20. Reliability would be my main concern with the cayman as I'd be stretching myself to get one in the first place. If money wasn't an issue I'd rather it over the 370.
  21. Called off driving it today because the weather is awful here in Newcastle. I must admit it's got me fancying a little something for myself now. I'd love a new boxster or cayman but could never afford one. A 370z however.....
