I don't think I would want to lower my car to be honest. It just clears the speed bumps in my area as it is. I will admit though, 20" alloys sound good. They would fill the arches nicely. I was cleaning my car today and noticed that the front tyres were 245's. Looking at the manual, it stated that the front tyres should be 225's and the rears should be 245's. I think the previous owner must of changed the fronts. Is there an actual handling benefit to running smaller tyres on the front and large tyres on the rear?

I currently have the factory fitted alloys on my car and the guy who had it previously fitted 10mm spacers so the wheels would fill out the arches better. From the information provided, I take it that 18" or 19" alloys are the way to go then? I'm assuming that anything large wouldn't fit. I believe the offset of the factory fitted alloys is 30mm, so is this what I should look for when choosing new alloys and is it to do with making sure new wheels will fit over the brembos?

Thanks lmc. I checked out the Rare Rims website and they had one of those virtual bays where you can see what the alloys will look like on an image of your car. Most helpful, thank you.

Thanks DoogyRev. What really took my fancy with the Invidia Gemini exhaust was the fact that it sits really flush on the underside of the car. Hence why I am thinking about getting one.

Quick Question. I noticed that you can get the Invidia Gemini exhaust with either Titanium Tips or Stainless Steel Tips. Is this purely a styling preference or do the different tips change the characteristics of the exhaust sound/tone?

Hi Guys, I am considering changing the alloys on my 350Z GT4 however, I have a couple of questions and would like to hear your opinions. 1. I've been thinking about getting larger alloys with lower profile tyres. Would this work with the GT4 and the handling or would it be better to stick with alloys and tyres of the same current size? 2. If I do change the alloys, I'd like to stick with a five spoke configuration. I do like something a little out of the ordinary or even a coloured (except black). Any recommendations? Thanks.

I have read this thread with interest. I find that one big problem that people can have when driving a zed or any other type of sports car is over confidence. A few years ago I owned a Toyota Supra and I really did love driving that car. The thing is, the more i drove the car, the more I started to believe that I knew it's limits. I would hit a bend at 50 and cruise through it with so much grip, the car running the camber perfectly. I found that I was able to push it just a little bit further each time. All the while becoming more convinced that hey, I am a great driver and i know this car. Until that one fateful evening when I turned my car into a bend that i know well and lost the back end and couldn't correct. Consequently slamming the car into the verge, before spinning almost 360 degrees and coming to a halt about 50 yards further down the road. That experience was a huge lesson in humility.

I'd take the mechanic at his word about it. I've known him quite a while and he's a mate too. He described it as being a W shape, so I'm sure that's the one in question. If I can get another one of these braces, would it be worth covering it with some sort of waterproofing agent prior to fitting? Might last a bit longer before it starts rusting again.

Hi All, My new brake discs and pads which I purchased from the Cougar Store where fitted today. The guy who fitted them for me did point out that while he had the car on the ramp, he noticed that a support brace/bracket on the underside of the car was rusted quite badly. I haven't actually seen it myself, but if it's as bad as he says it is then trying to clean it up and underseal it, might be pretty pointless. In which case, can anyone tell me if it's possible to get hold of replacement parts for the underside of the 350 and if so, where? Thanks.

Based on the information provided by 14N, it's a Japspeed K2 exhaust as it has just one big silencer. I haven't had the car long anyway and naturally I want to put my own stamp on it. I have to say, I looked at the Invidia Gemini exhaust as mentioned by tony.r123 and it looks well lush. Didn't think the price was bad either.

Sorry, my apologies for posting this in the wrong section. I have a 350Z. The make of exhaust currently on the car is Japspeed? I don't really know much about exhausts, so is that a good make to have?

I have been thinking about changing the exhaust on my 350. When I bought it, it already had an aftermarket one fitted, but it isn't what I want. I have found plenty for sale, so locating them isn't the problem. Basically the exhaust currently fitted has one annoying feature above anything else. One of the pipes that goes into the backbox, dips for some reason then rises again. There is nothing where the dip is that it needs to avoid, but because of this, it does scrap speed bumps, etc quite regularly. So I'm looking for an exhaust that is a bit more flush to the underside of the car. Trouble is, I can't tell from pictures of exhausts how they will ultimately look when fitted. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Hi All, Now that I own a 350, it has obviously become my pride and joy, however, one thing I am still trying to get to grips with are the gear changes. When I first drove it, I noticed that changing gear felt very mechanical, which I have no problem with at all. But it is very different to previous cars I have owned and has made me rethink my gear changing techniques. For a start there's getting used to short shifting and I also find myself being overly gentle with the gear changes. I expect I am over analysing it, but could really do with a few pointers. I'm not the greatest driver in the world, I will admit, but I would at least like to drive my 350 in the right way, if you know what I mean. Thanks.

Hi All, Just been having a look at the Spotted and Flyered page and I have seen a few posts saying that some people haven't really been that sociable when they have been spotted. I will confess that I have passed another Zed in my area a few times and the guy driving it has waved and I haven't responded. Can I first just apologize to whoever it was for being ignorant? I haven't had my zed long and I'm still getting used to being a part of the Zed Community. Some people (not zed owners) might think it's all a bit silly, but I have to say that I think it is fantastic to be a part of something with other like minded people. I've already found this forum for instance to be such and amazing knowledge base of information and even if you can't find the answer immediately, you simply ask your question and somebody out there has the answer. It's also a great portal for locating parts and contacting suppliers and you feel that you can trust them without question because they are also on the forum and are clearly supporting it. I know the above isn't useful in anyway, but I just thought it was worth recognizing the importance and value of the Zed Community and of the forums such as this that help bring us all together. Thanks.

My GT4 is a 2005 Model. That's good to know if it's the same as a standard 350Z of the same year. I just didn't want to go and buy parts, etc without being sure. Thanks

Hi All, Can someone help me with a query? I own a 350Z GT4 and I very often browse ebay looking for replacement interior trim, exterior trim, parts, etc. The thing is, I don't see many things listed as being for a GT4. There listed as fitting a standard 2005 350Z, which is the same year as mine, but I don't know if that necessarily means that the trim or part I am looking at will fit my car. If someone could shed some light on the differences I would appreciate it as I don't want to go and buy something without knowing for sure that it will fit. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. With regards to the difference in the weave pattern, it probably would have been better if the gear surround matched the stereo surround, but I'm just happy to have it finished to a good standard, although I don't think I will be using the same company again.

Hi Guys, here are some pictures of the second attempt. I went for a black carbon finish instead, decided to keep the interior pretty neutral. Definitely and improvement on the first attempt. What do you think?

Hi Guys. Well good news, I got the centre console re-wrapped and it looks a million times better now. Will take some pic over this bank holiday weekend and post them up.

A scalpel was used to cut around the apertures, but what was even more amazing was that the edges of the vinyl on the door handles was filed! All the vinyl has now been removed, but as I suspected, if you look closely you can see bloody file marks on the trim!

I will admit that I didn't know a great deal about vinyl wrapping before I looked into getting the interior done, but the word "wrapping" to me implied that the edges and apertures of any trim pieces would have the vinyl wrapped around them. If I had attempted the job myself, that's how I would have done it anyway. Would I be wrong in assuming that?

Hi Guys, Got an update for you. I spoke to the guy who did the work today and he basically admitted that yes, it was a poor quality job. He put it down to the fact that he ran out of time that day. Well, I got to him at 10am and didn't leave until 6pm and that wasn't because the job took that long. The guy also does remaps and while I was there two or three people turned up during the day and he would just leave my job to go and do remaps for them and he wondered why he ran out of time! Anyway, having discussed it with him, he has agreed to redo it. Okay, I could get it done somewhere else, but I am willing to give the guy another chance. He is local to me and I like to support local firms. If he can step up and do a good job then I will be happy to recommend him to my friends. Initially I did go for a yellow carbon fibre wrap to match it up with the exterior colour, however, having seen the finished product, I found it to be a little too garish for my tastes. So I have asked him to redo the job using a black carbon fibre wrap as I've decided to keep the interior relatively neutral now. I will of course, quality permitting, post some pics of the finished job.
