Thanks for all the advice. I was a bit of a late starter when it came to cars and modding. It was several years ago when I got a Toyota Supra MK4 that I really started getting the modding bug. But even then I would get qualified mechanics to do any work on the car that I needed. I'm not ashamed to say that these days I'm totally hooked on the world of car modding and cars in general. I love it and I have a real passion to want to learn more. As sad as it may sound, I spend a lot of time on the forum just reading articles and finding out as much as I can.

Now you have mentioned about left and right being based on when your sat in the car, I can see where I made my mistake. Thanks.

I bought them new from Tarmac. They have stickers on denoting left and right and I assumed that would be based on me standing in front of the car looking at the engine, but I did wonder if perhaps it was based on when I am sat in the car.

Some of you may remember a post that I put on the forum last week about an attempt I made to fit a roof spoiler, that didn't go well. Today I attempted to install a set of bonnet dampers and wouldn't you know it, that went wrong too. I thought I had fitted them okay based on an article I found on here, but once fitted, the bonnet only seemed to open to just over half away and I couldn't open it any further. In the process of taking them off I managed to knacker one of them and also chipped some paintwork off of the passenger side wing. Needless to say, that's it. I am never going to attempt to do any more jobs myself. It might cost me, but I'm going to get my usual garage to do all the work from now on.

Can someone help me with a query? I was due to have a new headunit fitted today, but this has been held up due to other problems. However, the guy who was going to fit it for me highlighted something about the patch lead. It was with reference to the ISO Connector (Item D) in the attached pic. He was querying it because there was only one ISO connector and not two. I'm not to up on these things, but apparently he said one connector was for powering the headunit and the other was for the speakers. I do have the Bose set up by the way and my guess was that the speakers would be powered by the new head unit so wouldn't need the ISO speaker connector. Is this right or am I totally barking up the wrong tree?

I was due to have a new double din headunit installed today, but on taking the console off, the guy installing it for me noticed that there were no mounting brackets. The guy who had the car before me must have taken these out when he fitted an aftermarket single din headunit. Does anyone have any brackets going spare or know of somewhere I can get some? Thanks.

It's fine. I've just PM'd Tarmac and asked for a price on a different roof wing.

I've never been really confident when it comes to doing jobs on my zed. But a short while ago I purchased a roof spoiler from Tarmac and decided that today I was going to have a go at fitting it myself. There was already one on the car that the previous owner had fitted so the first job was getting that off and them removing all the dried adhesive left on the window. It took a while but I managed to clean it all off. Just before properly fitting the new one, I lined up the new spoiler on the rear window just to work out the positioning etc and found that it ever so slightly over hung the rear window by a fraction. So applying a small amount of pressure just to get it to flex a little, I was hoping it would seat properly on the window. That's when I heard the crack and on inspecting the spoiler I found that it had snapped at the mid point and had exposed the fibre glass underneath. So today has just gone to prove why I should always take my car to the professionals who know what they are doing. That's the last time I ever attempt anything. LOL.

Absolutely raging..someone tried to brick my window

Hope you manage to get it sorted without too much trouble SkylineV35. Some people have no respect for other peoples property. -
Hi Guys, I'm sure I saw a post on the forum not so long ago regarding Bonnet struts (can't remember exactly what they are called) that fit either side of the car meaning you can do with away with the existing bonnet support. I can't recall where i saw it, but would like to buy a set. Would you recommend them and if so, do any of the traders on here sell them? Thanks.

I would like to add my thanks to the Cougar Store too. I bought my Zed last year and finding this forum was a godsend in itself and after finding my feet, as it were, I made my first purchase from CS and have to say they were extremely helpful and friendly. I have recently made some additional purchases from them and as always they have been very helpful and happy to offer advise. Thanks guy, really appreciate it.

Thanks GMBallistic. I appreciate the info. I've just this minute arranged to order a set of the Berks HFC's from the Cougar Store and an UpRev Mod is already on my list of things to do.

I'm no expert, but if I run the car and look under it, there is a noise coming from the where the cats are which could be as you say where one of the cats has collapsed. Just after I added my latest post to this thread, it did suddenly occur to me that my new exhaust doesn't come with cats. So as GMBallistic says it wont make any difference. This isn't a bad thing though as I have been reading a number of threads on here about the Berks HFC's and I do quite like the idea of replacing my existing ones with them, so weirdly it couldn't have worked out better. LOL.

With reference to the steep hill thing, all I am saying is that the first time I went up that hill in my zed, I stayed in sixth. I wasn't thinking about it, it was pulling great and if there had been a need to drop to 5th or even 4th I would have done so. I don't purposely go out of my way to make life difficult for myself. I have cleared the CEL and will keep tabs on it. As I mentioned, I am having a new exhaust fitted this week anyway, so I will see if that cures the problem.

Hi Guys, I may have a breakthrough regarding the issue with my car. I plugged my ODB2 adapter into the car and ran the diagnostic check. It returned the following error code: P0430, TW CATALYST SYS-B2 I'm guessing it's an exhaust issue of some kind. What is the fault exactly, can someone advise? Thanks. P.S. I have a new exhaust that I am due to have fitted, so will this resolve the problem anyway?

Oh Crap, sorry. The first time I posted this my sodding computer threw a paddy and I couldn't find the post, so I didn't think it had saved.

Dorset would be fine. Where exactly in Dorset are they?

Is any body on here from the south west, in particular around Somerset? I want to get my Zed looked at, but the way my regular garage are carrying on, it's almost as if they don't want the business. I don't want to be driving to far. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Whenever I pass another Zed I like to wave or flash my lights. Mainly though I am wondering if they are a forum member. Funnily enough I passed a blue one on my way into work this morning. Lol.

I think i might have worded it wrong when I mentioned about the car not pulling when I am in sixth gear doing 40/45. It's not going to pull tremendously well at that speed I know, it's just that it seems to be struggling more than usual. For example: There is quite a steep hill close to where I live and normally with a good run up to it, I can be in sixth and the torque of the car alone will easily get me up that hill without me having to change down. I went up that same hill on Wednesday and I ended up changing down to fith and almost had to go into fourth before I reached the top. I'm sure you guys will appreciate that the more you drive your zed, the more you can instantly tell when something suddenly doesn't feel right which is the case with mine.

I have one of those ODB Connectors and the software. Would that show up any faults with the sensors or any other faults come to that?
-
I'm a bit frustrated because I'm 100% sure there is a problem, although my mechanic says that all is well. The ride just feels a lot rougher and the engine just doesn't feel like it's pulling like it normally does. The garage did put some fuel cleaner in my car today just in case it was some dirty fuel I put in. They said it wouldn't hurt, so I am going to drive it around over the next few days and see if it gets any better.
-
Really appreciate the info, however, can someone just explain how a sensor can make the car suddenly feel quite sluggish and why this sensor in particular?
-
What is the MAF Sensor and where is it?
