  1. Hi All, I'm thinking about getting a new clutch and flywheel and just wanted to know roughly how long it takes to fit the new parts on a zed. I know how much my local mechanic charges per hour and just want to get an idea of the sort of labour cost I will be looking at to get the job done. Thanks.
  2. Hi All, I'm looking into getting all 4 wheels refurbished on my GT4. The wheels haven't been refurbed since I bought my zed and there are patches on the alloys where the lacquer is flaking and there are also some curbing marks. I also want to get them all repainted as they are looking a bit tired. Can anyone give me an idea of what the cost might be? I just want some estimates so I've got a rough idea. Thanks.
  3. I replaced my steering wheel with an after market one and that was over two years ago and I've never once had a problem with the MOT. My only advice would be, once you find an MOT Station who don't have a problem with an aftermarket steering wheel, stick with them. My local mechanic uses the same one for me all the time and as they know my car now, they don't query it at all.
  4. I have PM'd Alex, but he doesn't have any in stock. Thanks anyway.
  5. I need the Passenger Side Door Pull with or without the insert. Don't think it makes a difference, but just in case, it needs to fit a 2005 GT4. Thanks.
  6. Hi All, Quick summary. I had a go at spray painting my door switch panels 6/8 months ago and it didn't go well. My inexperience coupled with my lack of preparation and finishing didn't produce great results. Recently I posted a thread asking for some advice and to everyone who gave me some feedback, thank you. I gave it another go and below are the results of my endeavours. Needless to say I'm well chuffed. It's not 100% perfect, but following all the advise given, I was able to produce something that I'm pretty proud of. I took a lot more time with the preparation. After sanding, I cleaned the panels with some alcohol to remove any grease and oil that might still be present. This certainly helped when I applied the primer as it seemed to adhere a lot better. I also left the panels to properly dry off overnight and sanded them back slightly before starting on the main coat. After applying the main coat I again left the panels to dry overnight before applying the lacquer. As I mentioned in my previous post, I do all the spraying in a shed and the last time I sprayed the panels, I left them in the shed overnight. This time after finishing each stage, I brought them into the house as it's a warmer and that seemed to help enormously with the drying process. I shall be fitting the panels in the next day or so and will take some pics once fitted.
  7. Thank all, I appreciate all the advise and feedback. When it comes down to it, it's just my own personal preference. For me styling wise, I just prefer directional tyres. Yeah I am interested in performance to a degree, but I have always had a bigger interest in styling.
  8. Oh Sorry Ekona. The ones on the Supra were Avon ZZ3's. I believe they aren't available anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. Thanks brillomaster. Just taken a look and they are a reasonably priced and definitely the sort of thing I am after.
  10. The fronts are Nexen N8000 95Y (225/45/18). The rears are Nexen N8000 100Y (245/45/18).
  11. The tyres I currently have are NEXEN's. The reason for getting them was down to budget. I was out of work and didn't have a lot of cash to spare. Plus my local tyre centre did give me a good deal, so couldn't really say no at the time. I suppose everyone has their own opinions on these things. Personally I had a great experience with directionals on my supra. To me the car just felt a lot more responsive. Plus for me, and it's a minor thing, I just like the look of directional tyres.
  12. I had directional tyres on my mk4 Toyota Supra and I just found them a lot more response and grippy. I find with the tyres I currently have, that the car feels a bit wayward, if you know what I mean. A little more steering correction is needed and my zed tends to feel a bit light in the corners. There no sense that the tyres are gripping well making me a bit more cautious.
  13. I'd like to buy a set of decent directional tyres for my zed. But whenever I look for any online, I find a nice looking 225/45/18 for the front, but annoyingly the company who do them then don't do a 245/45/18 with the same tread pattern. Can anyone give me some recommendations for directional tyres that are available in both sizes? Thanks.
  14. Oh cool, thanks Ekona. I'll have to look into proper bucket seats then. I think my choice might be a bit limited as fitting in them could be a problem. But if I do find something that works, I will certainly get in touch with Hide n Seat and see if they can help me out with a retrim.
  15. Thanks Neilp. The less work involved to fit them, the better. I don't mind my current seats, but they don't really cushion you and I will admit, I've always liked the look of Bucket Seats. The picture below is the sort of thing I would like as I have a UY GT4 and the yellow would fit really well.
  16. Thanks for the feedback guys. It would of been great if there was somewhere close to where I live, but as you say Ekona, in the grand scheme of things a six hour drive would be worth it to make sure that the seats I get are comfortable, as I will be sitting in them quite a lot when they are fitted. I will check out Merlin Motorsport, thanks Jetpilot. Even if they haven't got a massive selection they may at least be able to advise on the types of seats available and give me a few useful pointers.
  17. Hi All, I was reading a recent thread regarding bucket seats and it's something I fancy looking into. I do have a few questions though that I hope someone can help me with. 1. Will any model of bucket seat fit in a 350Z? 2. Depending on the answer to question one, are any additional accessories required in order for them to fit on the existing rails and how easy are they to install? 3. Finally, does anyone know if there are any stores in the Somerset area where I could go and look at some seats and maybe try them, as I'm not exactly on the trim side and wouldn't really want to fork out for a pair online, without making sure I'd actually fit in them first. Thanks.
  18. Hi All, I expect you've all had occasional squeaks and noises from inside your zeds and I've been experiencing that recently, coming from the boot. On inspection, I noticed that the plastic panels on the rear strut brace and just behind the rear speakers don't seem to be fixed at the bottom and they do tend to knock and vibrate a bit when driving. I could tape them down, but just wondered if anyone has had the same issue and fixed it in a different way. Thanks.
  19. Good idea. I'll have to put the word out that I want a dipping kit. Thanks for your input Gareth, I appreciate it.
  20. Thanks Gareth, Your post is really informative and helps a lot. Basically I want to have the door switch panels carbon dipped as you did (they look great by the way). It is something that I would like to try, but if the kit you bought for £50 wasn't great then a decent kit may cost say between £70 and £100 and at that price I could probably get a professional do the job. I'm certainly still interested in giving it a go and what I might do is buy a basic kit and start experimenting with smaller items and if I find that I take to it quite easily then I will look at getting into it more seriously. For now, I think I will get a quote from AquaGraphix and go from there. Thanks again.
  21. Hi All, I was going to have a go at respraying my door switch panels, but then I came across some videos on you tube of people doing DIY hydro dipping and would like to give it a go. I do have a question though before I look into it further. Most of the clips I found don't really go into the preparation and finishing of the item being dipped. The people doing it just seem to dip the item as is. Is there any preparation needed besides cleaning the item? Also, what about after? I know you have to rinse the item off afterwards, but do you then need to apply a couple of coats of lacquer to protect the pattern or is it not required? Thanks.
  22. Was it you veeg33? Glad to hear that there were no serious injuries. Was it a right off?
