Yeah, good point. Mine has only ever had Optimax and Ultimate and gets plenty of boots to blow out the system I also do hardly any bumbling round town/sitting in traffic journeys, so ought to have less build up than most there too.

Had the TerraClean done yesterday, was £108 in the end, VAT on top of the £90. It took about an hour and a half. They disconnect the fuel system, plug in their magic black box, pump the super fuel through it for about half an hour, leave it to do it's thing for about 20 minutes, then pump more through and flush it all out. Reconnect everything, take it for a little drive, check everything is all good when they get it back, and boom it's done. I'd had a chat with a few people beforehand and was intrigued by how much difference I would notice after. My dad actually had it done on his 2010 Auris diesel earlier that morning and said he could tell the difference in the first 100 yards. Noticeably smoothly, both at tickover and climbing the revs. Things like a little hesitation at 2k rpm were smoothed right out... so my expectations were high given that mine is an 11-year old engine. Surely there had been a lot of carbon and gunk build up in that time... To be honest, I was underwhelmed with the first drive. I probably expected too much. I don't think I could tell much difference. Sometimes I thought it felt lovely and smooth, but I can't be sure I'm not just trying to feel it. And really, I never had any complaints about it before. I didn't get it done because I could feel imperfections that I wanted to address. On the second drive of it this morning I did notice a bit more - probably because it's my familiar commute. The responsiveness and smoothness of motion, particularly at lower revs in higher gears, is noticeable. But on the whole, there is nothing night and day about it. I wonder if it's because the Z engine is so damn good to start with. Being a large capacity V6, it's a naturally smooth and responsive unit anyway, right? Much more so than in your "normal" cars and especially diesels. And mine is still in banging condition after 11 years. Chatting to the garage owner there, he's only had his TerraClean for about five weeks, so they haven't had a whole lot of feedback yet. He's run it through some of his own vehicles like the old company van and some battered 20yr old Mondeo diesel. On coughing, spluttering, smoking heaps, there's a massive difference. On mpg and emissions too. He was eager to hear back from me with my feedback from a good condition performance car, so it'll be a shame not to have a more rave review for him. I'd be interested to hear whether others here have a similar experience with their Zs. Maybe it's just me missing something! It might be that I notice a difference in mpg after a while, though that's unlikely too since I've always done my best not to think about how much fuel it goes through! Having said all that, my motivation for doing it wasn't so that it would feel like a new car. I wasn't expecting to jump into another 20bhp or something brand new... It just seems a good idea to do whatever I can to look after the life of the engine. Apparently BMW and Subaru (not clear on whether this is manufacturer or dealer) are recommending TerraClean as part of every annual service now.

Let the Forum know when you have done it.. Absolutely, I've just got some other bits to sort out first (Cobra exhaust being priority 1) Oooh - ok, definitely keep us posted on this ! I'd really like to see a dyno pull on it, just to see if there are really any differences like that as well. Mine is going down to Abbey in a couple of weeks for UpRev, but it's a shame I don't have any figures from pre-TerraClean to compare it to...

Booked for Wednesday in Bicester, £90. That was quick!

Thanks everyone, appreciate the feedback. Think I'll look into it...

Yeah I'm kinda hoping there's someone who has already been the guinea pig so my Z doesn't have to be test subject!

Anyone had this done? Got any feedback? Recommend/warn off? Looks like a no brainer good idea for 10yr old engines... http://www.terraclea...bout-terraclean *edit - I had TerraClean done and posted the review lower in this thread, but thought I'd post here too for anyone opening new to find: Had the TerraClean done yesterday, was £108 in the end, VAT on top of the £90. I'll get the polish out! That's as it came off the car. Hasn't had any effort making it look nice yet

Hah, typical!

Mid & rear have sold Y-pipe and cat pipes still available

Too much? I've no idea how much any of this stuff is worth, so open to offers... How's £30?

Yeah, it's far from new condition! You're #6 in line for it though. Seems to be popular! Just waiting to sort courier with #1 before I mark it sold

I tried, but the filesize limit won't let me attach more than one and the 'insert photo' button they didn't show up... just that square graphic you get when pics don't load *tried again with the first one - still not showing above? You need to tweak the settings on photobucket to say 800x600 then they will link up fine Ah, cheers!

Used but working fine. I've just removed it to put the standard filter box back on. Collect from Witney, Oxfordshire OX28, or arrange courier. £30

Used but working fine. Out of my 03 Fairlady, but I think the same ones work in any Z? Collect from Witney, Oxfordshire OX28 or arrange courier £70

*Edit Still got some of these exhaust bits to clear Fujitsubo system that came on my '03 Fairlady, as I've just had a full Cobra system fitted. I've no idea how long it was on the car before I bought it (I've had it 18 months). It's not remotely new but has all worked no problem since the day I bought it. You should get an idea of the age and wear from the images. I'm in Witney, Oxfordshire, OX28. Y-pipe - £40 Cat pipes - £100 Give me a shout if you have any questions or want more photos

Got my Cobra exhaust, full system, bought from and fitted by CS. I wanted the knowledge and experience of Zs & these systems over any random local mechanic. Very happy customer. Well worth the 180-mile round trip! As everyone else I've seen comment has already said, awesome service, helpful, friendly, genuine advice, fair prices. I can't recommend highly enough. Thanks Mitz!

Cheers!

I've got an 03 Fairlady and am pillaging an air filter box from an 06 UK GT... I've got it in my head that they only have the dual air box assembly from 07 onwards, so the 06 should fit my 03 fine.... right?

HKS Super Filters In Stock DE/HR
anglais49 replied to Ewen@Clark Motorsport's topic in Clark Motorsport
You are still thinking about it WAY too much! Just buy any of these panels filters, HKS, PiperX, K&N or cosworth... I live for overthinking! Especially with stuff I don't know about When different brands make essentially the same product, I usually know which is better or just which brand I prefer. I don't like stabbing in the dark when they're all new! -
HKS Super Filters In Stock DE/HR

Is there any difference between these, K&N and Pipercross? All similar prices... -
Decision time, and as ever I need help from people with more of a clue than me... 2003 Fairlady Now has: GReddy air filter - no idea which one, hopefully there's one standard kind! (image attached, hopefully) Standard JDM Fujitsubo exhaust system No up rev, no plenum spacer Plan to very soon get: Cobra non-resonated, de-cat exhaust full system Uprev + plenum spacer ...so a filter decision needs to be made asap. The primary motivation for all the mods is.... well, to be honest it's just for the sake of it. I was thinking more about getting a better sound out of it when I started. I'm quite happy to have performance gains too, I just don't want to blow loads of money chasing another 50bhp that won't change my life. Despite the best attempts of Mitz/CS to explain it to me, I still don't really know what I'm doing... The advice in this thread was quite useful http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/80394-air-filter/, suggesting taking off the aftermarket filter, replacing with standard box and buying a better filter. Same thing Mitz said.... But I have more questions: 1) What is this GReddy filter? Is this cold air intake? I presume it must be since (cold) air must just be coming through the grill and into the filter? Why would I want to take off this one and put a standard box back on? Why is that better? Why did a previous owner put this filter on in the first place if it isn't better than just dropping a better filter into the standard box? 2) What difference is my current GReddy filter making to the noise over a standard box? Might sound like a dumb question, but I haven't heard it with standard, so I can't compare. 3) Let's say I put the standard box back on, it looks like I can choose between: K&N - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-Air-Filter-For-Nissan-350Z-2003-3-5-33-2031-2-/400381234298 Pipercross - http://cougarstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_17&products_id=53 Is there any difference? I'm about to spend £800 on the exhaust and another £600 or whatever on Uprev & plenum spacer, so skimping on an air filter for the sake of £40 is pointless when I'm already spending £1400. I don't mind spending more if it's worth it. But what's worth it? What do I get for my money?... 4) Loads more of these mushroom looking filters from £150-450: http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/products.aspx?CategoryId=dd876c45-6d4a-41df-bc25-7c19903fe703 http://cougarstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_17&products_id=55 Why do they cost more yet look similar to the filter I'm advised to take off mine and replace with a £40 filter. So confused. 5) I have a mate with a 350Z who has blown a lot more money getting loads done on his, including cams and some sort of air intake that takes it from the down near the ground rather than up at the front. I can't find any examples of this but assume it's much more expensive. Worth it? Someone with a clue please save me from myself! I don't like having options
