Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions chaps.

I wish I had an Aston to put them on !!!! My Corrado is good - but ...............
-
Umm you have given me an idea. I will look and see what they were when new. You can't use the German style ones other than at Shows. They do look the best though.
-
Guess I asked for that !!! Anyway, it was the walls fault. !! Last bump was about 12 years ago - in the Corrado about the same amount of time of ownership - one of those dammed posts that cannot be seen when reversing in. Amazing how a £120 repair for a tiny mark wakes up your senses for the actual size of your car. !!
-
DAve - I do only have two cars !!!! While the Corrado is in the Bodyshop I can hardly be working on the 350 - unless of course you wish to loan me your 370 !! I would look after it, drive it properly etc !! Anyway, I did get the scruff on the lower rear ns wing - where the wall at the end of my drive decided to launch a foot forward at 6am a few weeks back !! Was not impressed !. Just now to get the bonnet resprayed - due to the lacquer peel. Then a massive clean. Talking of Scotland .........onto another thread.

Hi All, My VW Corrado is finally painted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is not on the road or anywhere near complete, I saw her yesterday, body painted before any of the finishing bodywork refit, touch ups etc etc - and she is looking really good. Orange peel seems about right although I have not been over her with a fine toothcombe - she was still in 'work in progress'. I am very pleased so far. In the right light the purply tinge comes through as it used to when I first got her - some 14 years ago, that brought a pretty good smile to my face. The colour is a Aqua Blue - easily mixed with Midnight Blue in the VW range. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished result and getting her back. Yes, I know - photo's - one day I will get round to photo's !! I have had loads taken by the bodyshop as I also will be going for agreed valuation. She's on 207k, I am aiming for 300k before she needs a replacement engine. I stand a fair chance too - I serioulsy look after her, including giving her a good drive !! . She has never used oil and still doesn't, I do and have for 14 years given her 6k oil changes and always ensure of 80degrees as a minimum oil temeperature before 'a drive'. Anyway - Number Plates. The Bodyshop are suggesting new number plates always add hugely to the overal appearance. I have a tendancy to agree - so wondered what the general view was on styling or not on number plates. I personally would just wander off and get some new new very ordinary plates and wonder if I could be missing an opportunity for something a bit different. Perhaps some photo's or links if you don't mind. (Sorry but I hate bling on my cars, - I do quite like some on others though , something quite stylish/different is more my thing !!) Oh and what about the Euro flag - yes/no/ is it an option even ? Thanks in advance.

I was only discussing engineers at the weekend. There is a huge shortage of Engineers worldwide in a variety of fields, so I am led to believe. Accounting won't take you around the world - whereas Engineering certainly can. Nothing wrong with a back up plan - but thinks the earning potential hugely greater with engineering and way more interesting, challenging - IMO. !
-
That must have been scary, glad you are OK. I would ring re the roadworks sign, people manage to claim for pot holes so who knows you may get yours repair costs paid- fingers crossed.

So Dan - what happened ?? I see you do not have the title Moderator ?? !! Is it you are not sensible enough !!!!
-
Just interested -........... How many Mods are there on the Forum. ? Is there a Family Tree ? How are new ones selected and what do their roles involve ?
-
Oh Wow, Thanks Guys. I was really lucky, a girlfriend took me to York for a Spa Weekend - How nice and thoughtful was that ? Happy Days !
-
argh - that is so sad. I too remember my first boyfriend. Strangely thought of him yesterday. ! I too was rather expecting photo of a rusty old car too though!

Snow is not the only issue, frosts and ice are a key factor, water displacement is greatly improved too. I can easily get stuck in my village, so little option for me. Changed mine to Winters yesterday.

Very envious as Japan is also on my wish list and getting near to the top now along with Chile. Have you tried many of their varying strange foods ? How are you finding the prices compared to the UK ?
-
Don't mean to be dim, but this is not obvious to me. Why ?
-
OK, makes sense. To confirm then M40, Junction 8a is Oxford Services for those that are not aware. Dave - just confirm this works ok for you.
-
Dave, I am happy to meet at 9am at Oxford Services as Ogman suggests. That is a far way for you though to get to for 9am. You sure that is OK ? I will bring Scottish trip details - well that I have done so far anyway. Ogam/Everyone else AmyZed has the event as starting at 11am - till 4pm, we will be there mega early ??? 10 - 4pm is a long time chatting and eating in the cafe !!! Do we really want to be this early ? Am I missing something ? If not..... thinks I will be bringing my car cleaning stuff and spending the time there to spuce up my car seldom having time otherwise.

Is a reason for not getting these struts from Nissan Main dealer and choosing SGS or ebay ? Expensive, I note people stating ? Am I gathering around the £30 ?
-
Cool, I have just clocked, my Google was allowing for traffic which is bad this morning. So its only an hour which sounds better. I still reckon 9.30 am good though. I note too - Nic has another thread for this, but taking the M1 which does not make sense for me being 10minutes off the M40.
-
I am at the Banbury Junction on the M40, so probably the most South for yourself and Nic anyway, so could meet at Franke And Benny's which is 2 minutes off the M40. I have not been to Ace cafe before. Google I suggesting it is 1hr 35m - obviously we will improve on this, so how about 9.30am with depart at 9.45 I we are to be at Ace Café for 11am
