WackyWill - It was my reading that thread - that made me think i should actually start one of my fantastic experience !! I can't tell you how much it angers me - complete knobs on the road, track etc. I really would make everyone re-take their Driving Test every 10 years, and limit drivers on age to horsepower. Of course I woud not have wanted that when I was early in my driving days but then the roads were not as clogged up as they are now.

I didn't pay for it - just saved my Tesco Clubcard Vouchers, cashed them in to Everyman Motorsport for the Day. I do have a Tesco Credit Card with inbuild Clubcard which I use quite heavily as I manage to use it for work too and reclaim my expenses back ( I pay it off each month) and I rarely use in Tesco's itself. But it seriously works and does not take long to build up enough for a decent day. I will always wait until I have enough to get as much time on Track as possible to make it properly worthwhile and usually manage at least 2 Track Day Outing a year and often more. Have to say, I have been going to Everyman Motorsport for a few years now and Wow have they come on. Many more cars available. Yes, its busy, but it seems to work. No speed restrictions, no limited cars. Just have to be careful not to get drawn into buying the Video (£35)( or photographs (£25) - unless you want to of course. I would send Santa a Note if I was you.

I finally drove a GTR 2 weeks ago at Prestwold, only 4 laps, so about 8 miles. OMG - Do I want one or what though? Phenomenally fast, excellent uptake on the throttle, super paddle shift gearing, no hesitations. Absolutely fantastic. Exact Model – sorry I don’t know. I do know I attracted the attention of the Instructor in the other GTR on Track as I overtook his car.. ... He came up to give me a big thumbs up – for my driving technique and speed - apparently the one I was driving was 80hp less than his, but I managed to blitz his driver !!! Also drove the Porsche 911 (997 Tiptronic) Driven several before and was encouraged to drive this in Auto (Not something I would usually do- And won’t be doing again. )There was a lag – split second maybe, but it was there. Finally the Aerial Atom. This would have been better I believe if I had been a little taller and not so many cushions. A good experience – but not for me. I had a very bad experience in a Open Top car some years , so much prefer Coupe’s. GTR won hands down !! Think I will be booking one of these again, along with an R8 and McLaren next time - shame I will have to wait till Spring. I was asked if I had thought Racing – if only......... my funds would stretch that far. Might just be checking the running costs of the GTR though !!!

Regarding resting his elbow on the window - if this guy is as large as is being suggested, then he would need the window open - as surely there is just not enough room to do so ? This is not something I have ever known to be allowed on an Track Day at any circuit in the UK that I have visited. .

Very diiferent to what you currently have on your wall, but i always thought Elton John's - Capatin Fantastic Album Cover was superb.

I most of all have missed my MkII Golf GTI 16V - with bad boy big bumpers. Was superbly fast for the time and handled like a dream. Would have been worth keeping too for the amount of interest there is out there for MKII's Always wanted the Alpha GTV and the Capri 2.8 injection. Could not afford to run the Alpha and could not afford to buy the Capri at the time. I have a soft spot for the Hillman Imp as this was my first car - which had to be sold - as there was nothing further to skim off the head !!! :-) Am seeming to keep hold of my cars now - get too attached !!!

Massively varying tastes - inc Radiohead, Chemical Brothers and the like, Dance, Trance, some House/Rap. Reggae. All go faster music ........... !!!

Goodwood Revival Today and This Weekend. Live Stream.
Wendy replied to WhackyWill's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
Well, what an amazing 2 days at Goodwood Revival. Talk about brain overload with all the imagery of everything vintage. I doubt there were 10% of the people who did not dress up for the occassion. I managed 1940's one day and 1960's the next. One of my friends had a beautiful 1967 Daimler for which he had specialist parking amongst others of the same. WE must have spent 3 hours one day in this car park alone. So many beauthiful vintage/classic cars - I do not even know which my favourite was. The racing - was spot on - we took Grandstands one day close to the chicane. It is hard to believe how hard those cars worth a fortune were being pushed and also looked incredibly hard to keep under control. The BTCC boys were definitely giving it everything. Sad to see a few accidents with cars quite wrecked - but most importantly in both cases I saw drivers were fine. The shops, garages, the vinatge fun fair, The old style Tesco - with Green shield stamps, the Paddock, Seeing Jackie Stewart - everything was top notch. Despite the cost - I think with FOS this will become another regular on my calendar. Well done Lord March !! -
Goodwood Revival September 12th & 14th.
Wendy replied to WhackyWill's topic in National Events & Shows
I am going, for Friday and Saturday and will be staying nearby. Also been to the Festival of Speed masses of times, but a first for the Revival. Vintage wear is all ready. Glad to see the weather has improved dramatically. Already been expensive so far, expect it to continue throughout the weekend, but have little doubt it will be more than worth it. I have always arrived at the FOS really early and left as the gates are closing. Has anyone been to this event and FOs and able to throw any tips, pointers etc. Cheers Wendy Certainly looking forward to it. -
Agree, that Porsche tops it, beautiful motor.

That is brilliant !!

Difficult one this. Done 100's of thousands of miles as a pillion, see masses of incidents. The rider was full on speed freak, but good rider who I trusted - well up to 120mph !! (After that I could not hold my head on :-) !!! i cannot get my head around recording your riding speeds either................ I do not think it is easy trying to judge the speed of an oncoming bike. Due to my experiences I just accept they are all in excess of the speed limit and to never underestimate them. Sadly there are many drivers out there with little or no experience of bikes and bikers. Then many riders and drivers really do not read the road, the conditions or have much awareness generally of anything around them. Watching brake lights coming on necessarily on a motorway is proof enough of this - no reading of the road ahead going on there. Part of me - really does due to actions and speeding of the biker - think blame is split here.

I have used both 95 and 99 octane in my VR6 Corrado. The 99 provides significantly better fuel economy, but also the car is faster - without any doubt - it just runs so much better. False economy using 95 in my opinion.
-
As with most of the others - Drive it and enjoy it, or sell it - a Museum is a really good idea and buy something you will enjoy driving. I have a 96 Corrado VR6 - which hopefully will climb in value through the next coming years. It is garaged, but also driven as much as my 350z (and booked for a full respray next year) I also have Car pictures all around my house !! If your Mrs is not so keen on that idea - how about designating one room for photo's of the Cozzi

Looking getting 350z any ideas on good colours thinking blue or white
Wendy replied to 350zmadconnor's topic in 350Z General
Azure Blue is so cool, I often have my nails painted to match - much to everyone's amusement !!! I really was waiting for a 350z of this colour. !! -
I too had this dilemma when looking to purchase, albeit the Z4M was too far out of my price range. I test drove the 350z, the Z4 and the 911 (917) The 350 was my first break into the Jap world. I personally think its a fab looking car, its performance figures are good, nothing too scary on running costs and handles well on the road (apart from the wet !!!! ). Main thing here is you do get the feedback. Now owning one I am getting even more attached to it and its personality is growing. Glad I made this choice. The Z4 - always been a BMW fan, loved the M3's for their core driving styles and looks, but loved the Z4 for its looks and being a little different. Being more expensive at the time than the 350, I was hugely dissappointed, maybe this was down to not being the Z4M. The interior was boring as was the drive, it did not light me up, nor did it give me any feedback. The 911 - well of course that won in every way - but I think at the time the running costs put me off - I will have one - one day though !! Conclusion - I think you need to look at what you want out of a car. Looks, Performance, feedback, personality, running costs. Take them both out for a Test Drive - preferably one directly after the other. Make it simple - A Pro's and Con's List - if you are really stuck. For me - I still like the Z4, you have made me think maybe I should try the M version to see how that differs. My only problem is ............to buy one, the 350 would have to go and I have not yet experienced enough of the 350 scene and although I am saving right now for my next car, I really can't own 3 cars - Can I ?? !!!! Then I still need a Porsche - albeit I think now it would have to be the Cayman !!! Serioulsy what a wonderful delemma to have !! Enjoy your hunting.
