  1. No comments chaps - no wonder it took me an age to locate this thread. ? !

I don't want to spoil it - for those who have not seen the race, so no results but briefly..........

I thought the racing this afternoon in China - apart from the last two laps under safety car was some of the best we have had for a while. Some good tussels and brilliant driving. Felt for Button that was the lightest of taps, his fault, but still..

Can't imagine how Button and Alonso in the McLaren or Riccardo in the Red Bull are feeling. It's the third race. I would not be happy. They certainly are not the end of the Pit Straight they are used to.

Engine Blow for Vestappen - not used to seeing those too often either.

  2. Certainly the weather really helps with this event too. Sun shining, happy people and lots of lovely cars to gawk at.

We didn't even get lost...........and I was looking forward to the pre Shelsey 'warm up drive tour' !!!!

But parking in the Paddock was pretty cool. !!

Nice to see i8, this one in white which looks so different to the black one I reguarly see. Of course it not different, just the colour shows of differing items of body styling. Some good air flow designs there,

It worked well arriving much earlier too, although I was not thinking this when my alarm went off this morning at 5.45am.

I should be able to make the Hill Climb event on the 2nd, when Andy James should be there.....and the Porsche Club !! Yippee do !!! :D

  3. Poor and bad Pronunciation of our language.

When did 'something' become 'somethink' or 'somefink', 'anything' become and 'anythink' or 'anyfink' and on and on and on.

    Drives me nuts.

The getting into packaging lark - I have resolved.

I just get the scissors and cut, saves all the frustrations, cuts to hands, bad language etc. Works for me anyway !!! :)

  4. I got caught last week loitering behind a postbox when I was drooling over a Maserati GranTurismo

So embarrassed I had to own up to the owner who when he spotted me - I fell about laughing.

I had been waiting just for him to start it up - that sound- heaven.

He actually chatted to me for a while, with the car running, i could smell the fuel burning off, that was rich.

He very kindly burnt it off up the street. My location at the time Mayfair... obviously !!!;)

I used to as a child get taken out in the back of an E Type - 12 years old, no seats, so laying full stretch in the boot area.

My brother and I loved it. :teeth:

  5. So............where are any of the trips being offered to other 350 members ?

Think its horrid - everyone shouting out - I am off here on this road trip. that road trip.........where are the invites ?

I know there is Wales and The Lakes - not quite the same. Oh well.

Feeling grumpy - have VAT Visit - nothing that really concerns me - but how many questions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depart Portsmouth 20th June return Santander 5th July

Booking the ferry might be difficult at this late stage but all the hotels are booked but I'm sure they're not booked up.

    Thanks !! :teeth:

The first 2 links did not work !! ;)

You certainly have what look like good trips planned.

I look forward to hearing about the one which you depart on Sunday.

I think I already have several commitments for the June/July one, will check later and pm you.

Are you doing the Monaco classic ? I don't recall the dates right now, do they tie up to this ?

Actually I think they are May.

  7. I think the cinema would only be busy if the weather was grim, otherwise I would have thought it would be Ok.

I am interested in at least one of the events but maybe both.

    Await the details ..........

Could do a Shelsey meet, Drive/Lunch/Drive with later showing at Cinema.

People could join for all or part of the day.

I will try to have a look for lunch venues for lunch if you need some help.

Good one Ian for getting this going. :)

  8. I think having sufficient funds to get you through 4 months would be a good start. It's what I try to do.

I reckon in many a situation, a resolve could at least be close if not solved in that time.

I have been in this scenerio with one months back up (was too broke to have more at the time) and had to take mortgage holidays.

Thank goodness this was an option for me.

Personally if I had the funds to throw 25 - 30k at a Cayman, I would be purchasing one or a track/race car. (You could sponser me? !! )

But this purchase would not be to the detriment of my everyday living/life style, or travel - which is usually to rather differing destinations and not so cheap.

Just last weekend, I spent some time forecasting my Retirement Date options with/without State and Private Pensions pay outs.

(The latter is dire - my eyes are wide open on this though - I do not have children) and have always maintained I will downsize.

So in the above forecast, I was calculating sell dates, how many downsizes (not wanting to loose valuable funds to agents, solicitors and the like). etc etc. I really found this interesting to do and I know would bore some to tears...anyway

I decided I could snuff it at 82 !!!!

I think the thing I would say most, is if you don't know what to do with excess monies you may have at the moment, just try to put it somewhere relatively safe for now, a decision will come. Another house to rent out perhaps ?

  9. Really looking forward to this.

Was looking at some of the older threads and photo's especially on previous years. Some fantastic shots of both individual cars and views on the road. The drives out should be fun.

Hope it is sunny unlike a very gloomy day it is here today.

  10. That is looking good. What a fantastic upbringing.

It must have felt like a huge sense of achievement as a young boy to see it all finished, running and look grand.

So wish I had been brought up in the world like this.

I got sent to Girl's school and eveything, ballet, sewing - the lot !!

I rebelled naturally and made my summer School Projects on cars - which did not go down well with teachers or parents !!

I have even tried to do Mechanics courses in the evenings, but they are dreadfully basic.

I actually do know how to check my tyres, water levels and oil - thanks. They barely offer anything else.

Still love the garage enviroment though.

So, I just drive instead these days and appreciate car styling and the work others achieve, plus lots of Motorsport.

    In my next life though.................

  11. Not as sad as one of my Clients !!

So when Marissua were being sold and all parts became available on ebay, several of us were egging him on to buy into this historic happening.

He viewed the site and items and when talking away to us later, suddenly shouted across the office that he had accidentally bought a Front Wing for £1800.

He had clicked his mouse !!!!

So we now have a lovely Marissua Front Wing cluttering up the office.

He is not allowed to take it home, the wife went mental !!!!

I offered to store it on my garage wall, but he does not seem so keen !!!

  12. docwra, that all sounds great but are all zero hours contacts the same? I will admit to having no hands-on experience of them, only what I have read in the broadsheets (take a Tory and a Liberal one for balance  ) and most people are described as on minimum wage rather than £18 ph and upwards. I am willing to learn but I am not sure that your recruitment company is typical is it?

    My understanding is similar.

Zero hours, no contract, no sick pay, no holiday pay, possible no job tomorrow.

As Two Bears asks/suggest - are there a variety of differing Zero Hours Work offered by Employers ?
