  1. Aidan, can you hold off sending the Cats to the scrap Merchant? I'll drop you a PM.
  2. Can you give me some more details... what mileage have they seen? Reason they were taken off?
  3. Anyone have one they no longer need? I fear my existing cat has started rattling. For 2005 (DE Engine)
  4. Mine also does this too! Thought it was misfiring at first but from some searching online it does not appear to be something to be majorly concerned about.
  5. hi folks, Had the Zed up on a ramp today to identify an annoying rattle at idle. I've identified to the driver's side catalytic converter or surrounding area. Symptoms: > Rattle is only audible at fully warmed idle (with air con off) > Switching on air con to boost idle seems to reduce or completely eliminate the rattle > Car is running fine otherwise with no warning lights etc. Car is 2005 with 75k miles and on original cat afaik. Without removing the heat shield, mechanic is saying that there is possibly a piece may have broken off inside the Cat itself causing the noise. We both used a long pry bar to move the heat shield to see if this was the cause but we couldn't eliminate the noise by doing this. Video with sound: Any input on what it might be is much appreciated
  6. I can imagine that heavy braking and overheating can cause this but I've been driving like a granny for the past 500 miles!
  7. Well if brand new discs need to be skimmed after 500 miles then surely the skimming is only a temporary solution?
  8. What is the likely cause of DTV folks?
  9. No spacers mate - completely standard. Like I said when I removed the old disc I cleaned around the hub flange - it seemed pretty clean. I'm just wondering if one of the pads are sticking slightly causing heat build up and uneven deposits. It's quite bad now so I want to get to the source of the issue before I get new discs or resurface my existing ones.
  10. Not on the new discs Neil - I rotated the wheel on the old discs just to check for any resistance. What are you suggesting - that the new disc might not have been true?
  11. Need some advice folks... Replaced my front discs about two months due to a noticeable wobble / vibration under braking... I ordered new mtec discs... when fitting myself, I inspected each wheel to check that the calipers were not sticking. Both front wheels rotated freely. When the old discs were removed, I gave the hub flange a quick clean. With the news discs fitted the disc warp / wobble was no longer there. Now within 500 miles of completely normal driving, city and motorway, the wobble / shudder has returned and is even more noticeable than the old discs. Any ideas what is causing this? (At high speed braking it is a pulse through the pedal and at slow speeds it's like a mild kangaroo / wavy effect when slowing down. Sometimes the pads squeal at very slow speed and I can hear the sound come and go as the discs rotates so it seems like they are warped. I'm out of ideas as to what's causing it..
  12. I have a rattle at complete idle when warmed up- disappears at 1k rpm.. likely to be the same? Sounds like it's coming from underneath across from the front wheel
  13. As mick said stick to Maxol stations and you should be fine. There's an app you can download too - pumps.ie, that should have all the petrol stations listed and distance from where you are
  14. Just catching up on this thread... fair play Bradders it takes some balls to take on a job such as that! Glad it all worked out in the end- I've been through slipping juddery clutch, and the expensive replacement process that ensues, and it's not a nice experience nice when it's all fitted and working though! Well wear
  15. It's not just a saving of 4kg it's 4kg x 4 wheels = 16kg in total, which is a sizeable saving in fairness. I changed from the GT wheels to Rays recently and it is noticeable.
  16. Mine is on original clutch ~71k miles. Whilst the engagement point is quite high, there's no slippage or juddering.
  17. Average from city and motorway driving: 22-24mpg Reset before a 200km motorway trip: 28-30mpg
  18. Were you in Zandvoort for the Japfest? Not sure how much damage you've done, but if the car is not moving engaged in 1st then as a start the entire clutch friction surface has been demolished!
  19. I reckon a lot of it is due to my seating position, I'm not particularly very tall (6ft) but I would the seat is about 2-3 inches forward than normal, it's my preferred position for steering control. It ain't a major problem by all means!
  20. Both hands are on the wheel. If you think that you cannot bend your elbow and not have your hand on the steering wheel then your seating position is too far back or else you have small arms. Not particularly, LOL! The Zed needs a proper elbow rest, it is a GT car after all.
  21. Long journeys - motorway cruising - left elbow accidentally pressing the hazard lights button in the centre console when resting your arm? Very annoying.. and cars behind me on the motorway must think I've an electrical problem with my hazards sometimes triggering sporadically! I'd like an elbow rest me thinks
  22. Re the LCD information 'gauge' that displays dte, temperature, mpg etc, there are obviously two buttons - one to cycle through the different displays (on top) and one to reset information such as mpg and trip meter (right below it)- if you hold the top button for 2 seconds it brings you back to clock - save you having to scroll through all the options!
  23. gleesmj I'm a hoor for the hashtag 350z search!
  24. I have a Sony HDR AS-10 action cam in my Zed. It has a 'steadyshot' function which eliminates nearly all the shake. Only downside is that for the steadyshot to be on, the field of view is reduced from 170 degrees to 120 degrees.
