Welcome! Lovely colour Zed! Feel a tad jealous when I see one All the best with it and have fun.

Reckon out of the garage lights they will look pretty good! Still tempted to refurb my Rays and give them a bit of a colour makeover.... love the dark bronze look on Gunmetal but doubt Rays would suit that colour. Photoshop later I think..... Put some pics up soon! Looking forward to the end result.

I was polishing mine on the main road through the village at the weekend, hilarious seeing some of the responses! Young person in BMW or similar (old or new) - be seen to show no attention to Zed at all. Older person in BMW or similar (old or new) - slow right down and observe the Zed Chavvy hatchback - glance, then floor it past Anyone in a far superior car (i.e the pearlescent white Gallardo that drove past- never see anything this exotic locally!) - give a knowing smile, floor it, double clutch for the corner and speed off to give a nice demonstration for you whilst grinning Old men seem to quite appreciate it too, or more appreciate a younger person taking pride in a car I think!

It is a very satisfying job and well worth doing, always done it to previous cars before attacking with other products. it took me less time to do the clay barring than it did the polishing- probably an hour? But you really can tell the difference. 10 seconds on one spot left it feeling like glass in comparison to the surrounding areas. The Zed is quite a nice car to spend time doing too, quite small and the panels are all nice shapes. makes the time pass a bit quicker

Thanks everybody I did yeah, took them in my parking spot at partner's house but they turned out okay! When the sun stays out i'll venture to a nicer spot!

I ran out of steam!

Hello With the dry weather today I had enough time to wash, clay, polish and wax the new Zed. Spent a good 5 hours on it. Typical the sun vanished as I grabbed the camera, but took what I hope are a few decent ones anyway! Overall I'm quite pleased with the condition of the bodywork for an 8 year old car! One tiny parking ding right on the door panel crease but I hadn't noticed it until today. No major swirl marks, just a few scratches on the front bumper passenger side but that'll be getting resprayed soon to rectify this (I'm picky!) along with the bonnet which has a few stonechips at the bottom. Got lots of horn pips and thumbs up from passers by, lots of double takes too- seems a young lady polishing a nice car is a rarity Found it tricky to get the shine on camera with Gunmetal paint. My last car was black and seemed much easier to get a deeper gloss, on an older car too. Maybe attack with a machine polisher next time! Here's the stuff I used if anybody is interested: Washed with Muc Off Ubershine shampoo Dried with large microfibre towel Claybarred with boggo Turtlewax clay kit Polished with Autoglym Super Resin Waxed with Dodo Juice Supernatural Headlights (and exhaust tips roughly done) polished with Autoglym metal polish And the pics!

Hello! Just wondered if anyone has come across my Zed before. Had 4 or 5 owners, originally registered very far down south and spent the past 6-ish years in the North West, most recently in Warrington area. Also been on a couple of private plates: L3* LRE N* BOD Thanks

Bikes - The "awesome" kind with no engines

Ha! You do see some sights in Morzine- I witnessed about 20 French guys dressed as girls / in thongs. Terrifying! ETA: they were riding in them too -
I think it was £1.60-odd at the M/Way services! Shocking!

Haha, thanks! And I'm pretty sure it was the stem that did the trick. I've had wide bars for a long time too, so wasn't that. Tried different shock pressures and sag, tyre pressures, some made a slight difference but then soon as I changed the stem I felt so much better. Think my weight was too far forward and felt weird over the bike so was leaning back a bit to compensate.... this was of course weighting the front a lot less... probably leading to the skitteriness. Those SB66s are known for being a bit like that anyway. But yeah.... I had a MASSIVE off on some washed out sand that had washed to the bottom of a bridleway with all that rain we had before Xmas. Face landed first in a XC lid and it scraped about 5 metres down the bridleway on gravely stuff. Lucky I didn't fracture any bone but I've some lovely little scars from it. Put me off the bike completely until I got the short stem put on! Hoping to take it to Morzine this year. Went last year and was seriously underbiked.... took a 7 year old 130mm travel Mongoose Teocali XC bike down the black and red DH runs at the same chat most were doing on DH rigs.... it survived! Not sure how I did mind. Hopefully be a bit better equipped this year -
Ooh thanks! Popped along and shared my bicycle

Here's my beastie, a Yeti SB66 in standard Yeti blue! First couple of weeks with it were a skittery, unpredictable nightmare on anything loose or wet.... changed my stem from 75mm to 50mm and the change was incredible. Absolutely love it now. -
I just got four large single ones off ebay, worked out about £6 delivered so will have to see how they go. Plus an extra large drying towel because I despise Chamois leathers!
-
Put £80 of Shell V-power in, not paying motorway service station prices ever again unless in emergency! Think I got just under 50 litres. Guess thats not TOO bad! Fingers crossed we can work that switch back in, will let you know what happens. Locktite is a good idea thanks

Now that looks stunning! Very good job done with that. Surprising how glossy you can get that colour! Gunmetal never looks that good in pics Will remember those next time I'm stocking up on stuff.

Mental note taken

Hello! Always loved detailing my cars and on Saturday I'm gonna set to work on my Zed for the first time. Got myself a panel pot of Supernatural this time and a couple of those red foam finger applicator things. Normally I use Simoniz hard wax in a tin, with a microfibre to both apply and buff out. Anyone used these foam finger pads before and do you reckon its best to use them to apply AND buff off, or simply just apply then use a microfibre to remove? Thanks Louisa

Welcome!

I'm a mountain biker... overly strong braking fingers

Cheers mike- is this from below? As in, stick your arm up through the underside of the dash? Cars at home today and can't for the life of me picture what that area looks like properly! Thanks a lot

Cheers- its going into my partners garage tonight and he's fitting my tyres so just wondered if anyone knew the quickest way to go about it without figuring it out for ages. Thanks Louisa

Hello! Forgot to mention that when filling up the new Zed when I collected it, it had 20 miles remaining so had to put £5 of regular unleaded to get me far enough down the motorway to the services. This was all fine, put a fiver in and drove off. Then came to fill up with Super on the motorway, pressed the fuel release button and it pushed right through the dash and inside, leaving me with a big hole, only just large enough to fit a few fingers through and feel the wires and switch flapping around inside! Wasn't even a firm push! Had a fumble around there and then but no way to get it back out and into place easily. Need to have a proper look this evening. Seen its happened to someone before with a newer roadster after a quick google, who said something about having to remove the OBDII plug which was a pain in the bum. Will some trim or dash need to come off to rectify this? Thanks!
