Zeds have a viscous LSD so it's not really an issue. It's more of an issue for clutch type diffs as they could be damaged, the Z one is just fluid. As for a trustworthy place, go to your local council run test centre, they aren't allowed to do repair work, so they will only flag an issue if it's really there.

I've heard that the "book" time from Nissan is around 5 hours, so your guy saying 6 to allow for issues is probably about right. Er, any competent garage can change the clutch and flywheel on a Z. I did it on the road outside my house and I'm not a mechanic by any means! The only "specialist" tools you need are a torque wrench for the flywheel bolts and a clutch alignment tool which normally comes in the box with the clutch. single mass flywheels can cause issues in some cars, but the 350z generally isn't one of them. It's just a little bit more noisy than the dual mass one.
