Last year i went to join Keyser at Combe for an afternoon session, i dont think there was anything else on that journey that i could have bumped into slowing the progress: Horse Box Caravan Tractor Artics Coaches Learners Roadworks Least of all the driver that absolutely refuses to overtake at the head of any queue. On the flip side of that i went to the same place this year, but left at 6am, made pretty good progress but still had a fair bit of traffic to circumnavigate.

Ah so WRC is on the rise again, apparently the wales rally had the highest spectator numbers by far for years and maybe this is the first manufacturer to jump on releasing the new breed of "rally reps" and i hope so, they do look so much better than recent years (mini clubman etc) I see no significance with rally reps and jdm sports cars though, joint venture or not, the new Supra is where a Z car (if there is one) will be pitched at more so, imho, not a rally rep.

Totally get that and its great we all like different things, but what you want is going to sell in the numbers required to justify a new model, well certainly not in this price sector as you say and whilst i definitely dont want to live in Gangzoms utopian dream of the future of motoring i would much prefer a 4pot turbo with flappy paddles to stem the tide in the meantime, i dont see it ever moving back to sticks and proper engines as you say. I think its mentioned elsewhere, the Toyota Supra will be a good yardstick of what we may expect from the other Japanese manufacturers in this sector, but if they literally have nothing on the designers board now with regards to a new Z car, what are we realistically looking at for production in line with the op's question, 5 years, you have a while to decide op

Roughly 1500 sales in the whole of the eu in 15 & 1500 in 16, sorry dude, thats pathetic numbers for a car that was released in 2012. I dont really think its any different in the BMW chat thread, what are "people" buying cars based upon, cost, mpg, looks, drive, warranty etc etc I am afraid i bet the overall drive is towards the bottom of the list, dare i say looks would be higher up. I agree though, absolutely zero point in realising a Z for the sake of having a Z car in its line up, but i dont see a 4pot turbo being a poor car just because of that, price point and looks will come into it heavily.

The purist isle in which you reside (maunal, na, rwd) is about as popular as big capacity na engines these days, (check the ref you gave of gt86/brz sales), most mainstream manufacturers are moving to smaller capacity boosted engines, so why not a new Zed, keeps the model alive and will appeal to the mainstream/sales. I ask out of interest, not argument.

The Disco looks like its had a stroke and before the sensitive on here get all anxious, my friend who had a stroke was the one who came out with that comment. I am not sure i get these crossover thingys either and agree if you are going the 4x4 route, just get a big daddy Range, having said that, i think the new Velar looks awesome

I think you have answered you're own question You do seem quite animated by the "looks" of a car judging by you're frequent threads on the subject, maybe thats from you're background, but i really wouldnt be too concerned, there really isnt many cars on the road that look good imho.

So why no gravel traps anymore, safety or cost to repair cars, being cynical i would say its the latter under the guise of the former, to me track limits should mean track limits, not some huge tarmac area where there really isnt too much penalty for running off the track. The ruling is a bit vague too, some places they seem happy as long as they dont deem it a time advantage, as Ekona says, just make it simple, all wheels off the "track limit" every corner at every track, 5 sec penalty. I know i bang on about MotoGp when it comes to F1, but if anyone has the inclination, check out the weekend just gone race at Philip Island, simply stunning motorsport!

Maybe its an older generation theme as perhaps we remember the roads when they were less congested and policed, my golden era was late 90's and motorbikes, cant help but look at national speed limit general a and b roads now and think, f*ck that, i am glad to be in my daily bus , but i imagine to a younger driver its all they have ever known. Maybe a lot is do with the areas we live, Ekona mentions Wales and elsewhere the peak district, i guess if you live in more rural areas the opportunities to enjoy a drive are still available.

So without searching and really not ever going into London, what do other vehicles pay, buses, taxis, delivery trucks etc?
-
Mtec for the win, didnt notice a huge difference between them and DBA discs at twice the price and if you dont want squeal, just stick to nothing drilled or grooved.

Exactly, track days and consider myself very average at it and dont take offence, but i would include 100% of members on here average. 2 seconds for us lot is a fluffed gear gear change or two, braking too early or too late for that matter, not getting the exit just right, let alone other parameters like tyre pressure being absolutely spot on and if its absolute gospel would i pay 75%+ more for the same car for 2 seconds, not a chance. The link is a good comparison, the figures are very similar across the board between the two, so make of it what you will, but there is nothing that would suggest to me the HR is significantly faster or significantly better handling (along with driving all variants), they are very very close with any data we have, check out the the Tsukuba times elsewhere, a Cayman S and 370z both timed slower, now we all know which are significantly faster than a 350z
-
One, two, jeez that was a massive amount of time reading that, never mind in the context of 70 seconds, let alone 110+ seconds at Oscherseleben. Each to their own of course, but some black and white figures in the context of the topic might help the op
-
Lets be honest, faster yes, but its so minimal its not worth the extra outlay in a lot of opinions. http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/4hlj6ji1eu27 .2 secs quicker to 60 1 sec to 100 .5 over a 1/4 mile and barely 2 seconds over the varying tracks, i cant say i noticed a huge difference between de. upreved or hr and with the figures above, i am not surprised.

Only learned of this today, any thoughts? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/features/new-european-ruling-means-changes-insurance-law-do-really/

Do an advanced search on ebay dude, i think you might be pleasantly surprised between an advertised price and what they are actually selling for, as redzed found out

Beautiful

So if it carried any other name than NSX, would you still say its a "bad job"?

http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/dl62pf4g2d0n I didnt think i would be, more than a minute around the ring

I would love to hear what you think and a cheeky pm with the price he paid would be interesting if ok to ask.

I wonder how many Golf R's are specced with a manual box vs dsg from new, i would bet its weighted fairly heavily to dsg so i just dont consider that a selling point except to a very small percentage who still revel in changing gear handdraulically if you like and there arent many of you Doc is on the money when it comes to choices, wives, kids, image, new etc, but if you want a GTR from a personally prospective i wouldnt even consider the Golf, but then i dont have to justify it to a wife and kids, dont care about image, the only consideration would be new vs old, i dont even care the Golf would be as quick staright line as on the track i doubt it would see which way the GTR went.
-
Absolutely, for a car thats 25 years old and built in Japan it has aged extremly well. I would love another, but, the age is also the problem for me now, the dreaded (possible) onslaught of tin worm, tired brittle wiring looms etc which is a crying shame, such a pity the Rx8 wasnt a worthy replacement imho of course. Unless there is a real break through in tech and ever increasing emissions targets, i doubt we will see another rotary either.

Thanks for you're views, ever driven one with a charger?

Personally i would say the GTR price has remained pretty firm for some time now, there may be the odd rogue/import floating about cheaper but £35-£40k is where they have been for at least a couple of years, but as has been mentioned to me (and above) whilst pondering my next car and the GTR being on the list, they are now reaching that age where "things" are starting to go wrong (earlier cars) and those "things" arent cheap, so a £40k car could quickly turn into a £50k car, 25% extra would be quite something to stomach in a budget. Personally i now wouldnt touch one unless it was from a decent garage with a comprehensive warranty, which will probably bump the initial price. So i think prices will drop as more and more dogs enter the marketplace and as Ekona says, when the next model is released, pending on spec and price, they will firm up. I agree ref RX8, but personally the RX7 fell into the wrong hands and they mostly got chaved up which was what drove the prices down, most serious buyers always budgeted for a rebuild at some point I would love to know how Honda have done a "bad job" with the NSX, they are fetching hefty premiums and long term order if you buy through a dealer, plus they have pretty good reviews from what i have seen.

I recommend getting the Lotus out on the track, it will come alive
