So it was the best car for you, not necessarily the best car available, which is what i am saying, i care not a M3 or Cayman maybe be better, they are not for me and that doesnt just come down to the badge, looks, servicing, cost of repairs also weighs heavily on my mind when it comes to Ze german brands.
However, i admire your selection criteria.
I personally think buying a car is a lot like choosing a girlfriend, you want the best looking one you can find to suit your budget, performance/running costs etc are never going to be cheap but it looks good so you dont care....if you choose a girlfriend on the merits of performance/running costs/comfort etc we would all be going out with munters, you can be sure they would perform way better than most lookers and they wouldnt cost an arm and a leg and with be easy to get on with!
Back to the op, everyone will have opinions, best summed up as others have put, find something you like the look of in your budget, make sure you get a decent test drive or two and make a decision on what you like best
